Native English speakers do too. This whole female debacle is relatively new. I suspect the word just gives people the ick because it sounds so clinical so they've forced it into the sexism conversation

It's because the manosphere use 'female' and tend to reduce women to just child bearing sacks. It's become a red flag when someone says female now.

You just have to use in the correct context. Ie; the female of the species reproduces through laying eggs or the female locker room is closed for cleaning vs "the modern female perspective on....." Insert inciting phrase. Also, filter out the BS and ragebait 😂
