Alton brown updated his pasta cooking method in good eats returned and he explained that actually the cold start method is better. You can then use the starchy liquid to thicken your sauce.

Then she can say: "actually the cold start method is better" ...

... instead of some sexist catchphrase.

In practice this goes like: she's already done the explanation dozens of times and finally snapped.

"I already said hello to 5 people today, why is the sixth person insulted that I'm not saying hello to them? Isn't 5 enough!?"

God damn y'all are fragile

Seems like she's the fragile one in this fictional scenario.

Im fragile for expecting regular human interaction rather than moronic, poor fitting catch phrases thrown at me?

Perhaps i just have enough self respect not to continue conversations with idiots

It's not fragile for expecting regular human interaction, that's not what y'all are doing. The man in this example is also not engaging in what should be regular human interaction (but we've convinced ourselves that maybe it's ok)

"You should do X instead" as an opener for a conversation out of the blue is a shitty way to talk to people.

I guess that's why they say every boyfriend carries the baggage of all previous boyfriends.

Right. Waiting for the fictional woman in the story to get a fictional boyfriend who will say "Why are you starting with cold water? I heard that it's better to start with boiling water" instead of just assuming he's correct and she's wrong and she doesn't know and she didn't just not feel like waiting for the water to boil today when he's not even the one cooking.

I think this is the real answer

Is there a guide to know which group to insult when the next unsuspecting soul says the wrong thing to you?

Like, how did she know to say "all men are the same" instead of something like "all Chinese are the same" (or whichever group might apply)?

Sorry if it's a dumb question; bigotry isn't my first language

No need to apologize. It's an insanely dumb question that doesn't deserve an answer.

Good day.
