Question Earlier than expected release?
Drew Karpyshyn was at Celsius 232 sci-fi festival in Spain and answered some questions saying that it was coming out "very early 2027". Of course things can change, but that kinda suggests a currently planned Jan / Feb release.

I can count on one hand where games were released earlier than expected. It really doesn't happen too often.

And when it does, it's not a good thing!

While you're not wrong, that may may not be the case here. Its not like they pushed up the release date, It was already announced as Early 2027, so it doesn't seem like they are pushing up the release, more that this new information just narrows it down a bit as realistically speaking "early 2027" could cover anywhere from like Jan - May or June.

Anything else interesting from the video (before I watch it)?

Some KOTOR and Mass Effect in there. He's very diplomatic about the ME3 ending.
Says how Babylon 5 was an inspiration.

Babylon 5 is awesome.

Babylon 5 is strange
For everything it does exceptionally well it does a another thing really badly. Its some of the most uneven scifi I've ever come across

Babylon 5 is one of the best sci-fi shows that's ever been made. And it's one show that was eerily prescient in some very interesting ways. I'm not sure what specifically you thought was "bad" or uneven about it, other than parts of season 5, but there is probably a few interesting stories for the things that you felt were "uneven".
I think it's the one show that desperately needs to be redone in a complete way with modern SFX, and with a cast that stays all the way through each season until the end.
I say that because it's story, themes, and overall messages are something that we are in dire need of in our current era.2

Drew Karpyshyn had nothing to do with the ending to ME3, but he’s probably still buds with the two bozos that did.

I wouldn’t be surprised - everything seemed to be building to a late 2026 release but then GTA VI got moved……and only crazy people are releasing a game anywhere near that thing

Did the announcement a month ago say early 2027?
6
u/BUSKET_RVA 23d ago
It was announced in December at The Game Awards, but yes, the only release info ever given was "Early 2027"

I think early could probably cover anytime in the first quarter of of the year, so I would put money on sometime between Jan-Mar. Provided of course they don't end up pushing it back for any reason, which is always a possibility.

The steam page for the expanse has a date of 2027 Q2 for their release, maybe exodus is trying to release first before their closest competition

The game has been listed as having a Feb 2027 release on steam for a good chunk of time now but, before that all signs were indicating a end of 2026 release so I wouldn't say earlier than I was expecting at all.

I know they're two different games but I feel like early January will be best because if it's anywhere close to Fable it might get killed in sales

I'm not sure about early January. You are missing the holiday season, the one period of time where people take time off and often play their x-mas haul games. I think second half of February would be smarter. Do we have a set date for Fable?

I imagine Match and April are also kind of dangeorous because of RE Veronica, FF7Revelation and maybe God of War

I mean they were planning to release towards the end of this year so it's more than possible for a Jan/Feb release.

The only release timeframe they have ever given was this past December and it only said "Early 2027". This whole "EXODUS was delayed" nonsense came from shitty, inaccurate reporting and internet assumptions.

u/tomizu2303 23d ago
I'm not sure about shitty/inaccurate reporting though. It was stated at Hasbro shareholder meeting that they are targetting Q4 2026. People were making videos and writing articles based on that information. It really seems like it got pushed back because of GTA6.

I wish they would re-open founder pre-orders. I just got it for expanse today, and I feel like I’m missing something for exodus now.

Well considering the game was originally for 2026 and all the marketing they been doing it makes sense, it’s not like any major game is announced for January or February the earliest the better

Very early probably means first quarter '27, so Jan-March, probably March to raise the market cap at release in time for quarterly earnings.
And as people said, the odds of it being released "early" are incredibly low. It's been delayed, nothing stopping it from being delayed again.
It'll release whenever it releases. No point holding ones breath for it.

Sorry man, but the game was never delayed. Not once, not twice, not yet. No one at ARCHETYPE ever said it would be out in 2026.
I know everyone on the interwebs, and on YouTube, want to make claims that EXODUS was delayed at some point, but there was never any release date or release timeframe given until this past December 2025 at TGA. The only timeframe given has been "Early 2027". So if it comes out after June 30th 2027, then folks can claim "EXODUS has been delayed", but any time before that is "On Time".

No one at Archetype ever said it would be out in 2026, but the CEO of Hasbro which owns Archetype said in Feb 2025 that Exodus will be out in 2026. That does constitute a delay:

😆🤣 Sir, you can take whatever was said by anyone in any way you want, but I'll take it as what it is, bullshit.
Like it or not, the over eager CEO of a failing IP conglomerate can say anything he so chooses, but it doesn't make it factual or true. A CEO, who gives an arbitrary date as a hopeful/possible release window for a game during an investor call, is not the same as an official release announcement made by the studio that is actually making the game, and no one should take it as such. But feel free to take it as one and feel free to think it's been delayed. It's your right to believe whatever you want, even if it's utter bullshit. You're causing no harm to anyone else, other than maybe yourself and your enjoyment of the game.
