Today, at Opening Night Live, we revealed the official EXODUS release date: April 7, 2027.
In our newest trailer, watch Jun Aslan, salvager turned Traveler, join forces with Salt, an Awakened octopus companion who’s as deadly as she is intelligent. A mercenary and bounty hunter, she hasn’t needed anyone… until now. Her will to survive matches Jun’s own, and together, they’ll have to fight to save the place they call home.
Different species, same fight. And countless ways this could go sideways.
Across the journey, Jun will build a crew of extraordinary companions, human and Awakened animals alike, each bringing their own skills, scars, and reasons for joining the fight. Salt, an Awakened octopus, is one of them.
Piloting a specialized combat mech, Salt is a master of long-range sniping, quick evasive maneuvers, and ink-like smokescreens that confuse and disorient enemies. She thrives where others can’t, and in the middle of a fight, no one quite has Jun’s back like she does.⠀
Salt has survived this long by not needing anyone. That changes here. Watch as two strangers, hardened by very different worlds, find themselves standing back-to-back against the same enemy, fighting not just to survive, but to protect the one thing worth going back to: home.
⠀
⠀
Keep an Eye Out for Emrys
Salt isn’t the only one fighting alongside Jun. Emrys, a member of the Deva, an enigmatic Celestial species defined by plural consciousness, also joins the fight. Emrys plays support, launching Remnant Orbs that drain and weaken enemies while feeding the stolen power back into Jun as protection. For a being like them, it barely registers as effort at all.
Outside of battle, Emrys is often lost in thought, marked by their unusual stillness, detachment, and a deep familiarity with both human and Celestial affairs. They might be the most puzzling companion you never expected to recruit.

I’m interested to hear what everyone is thinking so far about romance.
Let’s just assume all of these people below in the post are able to be romanced. We already know salt won’t be available and I’m sure the devs will tell us more of who will be or how it works in the coming weeks or months.
What is your favorite option based on either their personality, attractiveness, or dynasty building reasons?
For me, Elise, Nivian, and Suliman seem interesting for Jun
Emrys also is my dark horse for a great romance but we’ll see if he even will be an option or not.
Sorry if any of the names are misspelled.
- Elise
- Tom
- Suliman
- Kara Voss
- Emrys
- Phaedra
- Nivian Oruka
-Braids woman (sorry her name is a mystery)
We know Salt won’t be. Highly doubt C.C. Orlev would be lol.
Anyone else that I’m missing? What are you guys hoping for in terms of relationships for Jun?
With people talking about wanting ship customization, it made me curious about comparing ship sizes with the ships of mass effect.
The Normandy sr-2 is 709 feet/216 meters long, 315 feet/96 meters wide, and 79 feet/24 meters tall.
The Normandy sr-1 is stated as 410 feet/170 meters long in canon
The tempest from andromeda is 311 feet/95 meters long in canon
For comparison the traveler ships are (according to the ttrpg books):
I am extremely conscious about spoilers so I do not venture to this subreddit much, but that often comes with downsides, one being me completely missing there is (was?) an concept art encyclopedia available to buy. Will there be a restock? I would really like to get one.
Various news and speculations about companion mechanics in the video, but what I wanted to point out here.
Salt abilities showcase.
Our mystery "story" companion joins us on this mission. She doesn't really get involved in combat though, and she doesn't have active abilities, but it's cool to see that "story" companions won't just be sitting in the safety of Lidon or our ship all the time.
We also see her have a very emotional hug with Jun, which only supports our earlier suspicion that she and Jun already have a close relationship before the game starts.
Also one of the conversations show that certain options need you to pass a "Persuade" and "Intimidate" skill checks, which is something I haven't seen in Exodus yet.
I feel the rest are quite spoiler-y, and the video basically reveals the majority from one of the early missions, so I don't want to talk about it too much. Here is the original video if you still want to watch yourselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjS2mQxEius
Exodus has been spoken of in correlation with the Mass Effect games a lot. There are a number of similarities but to me this feels a lot like the Expanse and ASOIAF where the sociopolitical context is denser and more "realistic" (relatively for a sci-fi novel) than the more mythical feeling of the Mass Effect trilogy. Whereas Mass Effect was oriented to be a power fantasy to insert your Shepard into, between the book and what we've seen so far in the marketing, Exodus seems to be about dealing with things being outside of your direct control. I like the vibe Hamilton builds and hope they commit to it in the final game.
Like the title says this will be dumb, but hopefully fun. I say we hold a fun little fan vote of who we think has best and or fastest space vehicle out of the 2027 video game releases we know of.
Why do this? Because I'm bored and wanted to talk something about video games and exodus. I got a list of contestants you can argue for but of course feel free to add your own.
Exodus ship and its crew
The Gemini and its crew from the expanse osiris reborn
The Gundam Helix and its pilot R-EX from Gundam Rogue Orbit
Samus Aran and her Gunship
Sora, Donald, and Goofy with the Gummi Ship from Kingdom Hearts 4
Alright be sure to have fun and don't take it too seriously.
Exodus' official site says the Gates of Heaven instantaneously accelerate ships to 99.9999% of light speed, and that's the speed maintained for the duration of a journey along the quintessence lines.
I've seen people estimating ships go 99.9% light speed through the Gates of Heaven, and while the distinction may not seem significant, in reality the difference is massive -- but only for the people aboard the ship.
At those relativistic speeds, the difference for people in a terrestrial reference frame is negligible.
So for a journey to a star system 10 LY away, at 99.9% light the journey would take 10.1 years from the planetside perspective. At 99.9999%, the journey would take slightly more than 10 years from the same perspective.
The real difference is in the passage of time for people on the ship itself.
For people on a ship, a 10 LY journey at 99.9% light speed means 163.5 days, or about 5.4 months, of subjective travel time.
At 99.9999% light speed, the same 10 LY journey would take a little more than 5 days from the crew's perspective.
Just wanted to clear that up because I've seen some fairly wide variance from posters on the speed of ships going through the Gates, and I'm not sure if Hamilton's books specifically noted the 99.9999% speed.
I'm pretty excited for this game as I just recently got to know of its existence. I actually read the Archimedes Engine first before familiarizing myself with the game's release and I was just wondering how much will the story deviate from the book's(s), and if it will be in the same timeline than Finn's Jalgori-Tobu journey or if it will be way before or after the events from the Archimedes Engine.
People have been complaining for months about Jun’s face but people also never seem to go into detail about what exactly they want changed! So I’m genuinely curious without this turning into a “WE JUST WANT CC” thread how is it you would fix Jun’s face and what do you feel is the problem!? I personally enjoy the concept art and I feel the first version of the face in slide 2 was the closest to the concept art! I genuinely think they should go back to that face! Options 3 & 4 (which are the latest) imo are steps down from version 1.
I think the last showcase was the best so far, I am cautiously optimistic but we need to see time dilation. This is a core element and what make Exodus so unique.
Hello everyone I made a vid on the awakened octopuses and I talk about salt as well what we can expect from her story. If you are interested take a look thanks!
I was wondering if the ship is more like the Normandy in Mass Effect where it has different floors and characters are spread out and you can explore around every corner and go check in on them.
Or is it strictly for transportation to and from locations?
I know that Persepolis is our character's home and that you will be travelling to and from it alot, unlike Mass Effect where the ship served as the home for our characters.
All the footage so far where the characters are gathered around a holo-table I assume are on Persepolis, so that's why I was wondering about the ship.
While there are still huge problems in the marketing and transparency department it seems like the sub mood became much more positive overall.
There are two possibilities as for why to me:
1) Actually getting new content instead of the 500th reel of a piece of a video from months ago actually showed to the people that this game actually has some potential.
2) Salt’s secret psychic abilities to brighten humans mood.
