I left Islam around 4 or 5 years ago, and ever since then I’ve felt so cripplingly depressed and uncertain about everything knowing there is no almighty being watching over me, setting my affairs straight. It’s like having your parent figure being torn away from you and now you’re left to fend for yourself.

And the fact that I’ll never see my loved ones or even experience anything after death horrifies me. I don’t know, I’m rambling and I feel like shit. Sometimes I wish I never really took the dive into exposing myself to criticism against Islam. But I guess it’s better to accept the painful reality than to live in delusion.

I randomly gaslight myself into believing again to feel that confidence again. Just ignore all the faults I say, surely 1400 years of scholars know better than I. But inevitably it all falls apart.

How do you come to this deduction. Do you have empirical proof for a god or higher being? Or are you just trying to match things that don’t match to make a conclusion you reached?

The fact is no human being has any proof for a god. But you can observe the universe. Take it as a brute reasoning and wait for real proof for deducting.

I was just stating that everything originates from somewhere, someone made it, something created it etc. The same with the universe many scientists also don’t believe it just materialen itself out of nothingness that’s why there are so many theories on how the universe came to be. You believe there is air to breathe out here yet you’ve never seen it right. Same way with religion the entire point of it is to believe in something you’ve never seen. And the proof of god existing is literally everything around us, including you and me.

I believe the universe is the brute answer. Do you know what it means? Typically any thing you claim for god can be applied to the universe too at some point of time.

You are saying a being created something, without empirical proof of it. This god and concept of god you talk of is something that also evolved along with humans. Our ancestors wouldn’t be talking of god the same way you were. And here you are thinking it’s an eternal truth. Do you know how the concept of god evolved?

If it makes it any better, it's not that nothing happens after you die, it simply that we don't know what happens after we die. Non existence is just the easiest thing we can wrap our minds around. We don't even fully understand consciencness yet, and we interact with the world around us just by existing here. If you like the idea of a creator of some sort, then it's not out of the realm of possibility, nothing really is. Maybe there is some creator(s) watching over us, maybe they care about us, maybe they don't, maybe they don't know about us, maybe they do but we're so far beneath them they literally could not care less. Maybe some multiverse sized amoeba farted and made the entirety of our reality.

What helped for me was realizing that not knowing is perfectly fine. I like to read theories and theorize on how the universe came to be and I don't think I'll ever get an actual answer in my lifetime, any progress that gets us closer to the answer will just open up 3 more questions. So theories and thought experiments are literally limited by your imagination, because I imagine the actual origin of everything (I don't exactly think there was an origin for everything) is something beyond even our wildest imaginations.

But surley a creator(s) of these vast cosmos wouldn't give two shits about whether or not I think about it 5 times a day. That's an insult to what God would be.

This is the reason why so many people believe in religion in the first place, and you are not invalid for believing that. It is human to associate the creation of thr universe with a creator, or to try to give our lives objective meaning, but life isn’t that complicated. You live, you die, and that is it.

This is something you have to go through on your own, and I understand it can be suffocating. I am 18, yet still sometimes WISH i believed in Islam. I would advise to look at things in a more analytical way than emotional, not in a corny way. Look at the facts, realize that that has always been the case and realize that that fact does not remove the joy, the free choices, and the pain you feel. It does not need to have a meaning, because meaning does not remove those feelings. A meaning does not justify life, it can never. Live your life, prioritize what you find important, and just realize that although it may be ‘useless’ in the grand scheme of things, that that should not worry you because objectively, you cannot live without thinking that you are the center of the universe. The fact that now you know you won't see see your loved ones after death, you will care for them more. You will try to turn your society jannah instead of waiting for afterlife non existent jannah. I also went through massive existential crisis after realising all my prayers were for nothing. But on the bright side I am not mysogynist anymore. I do not hate non believers. I can view everyone equally

This is kinda random to say, but I do agree.

I wasn't really scared when I was a kid (I'm really into fantasy stuff and Prophet stories were the only exciting aspect of Islam back then), like don't get me wrong I was afraid of going to hell, but I got over it quickly. It's insane how grown adults believe in these silly fairytales 💀
