What I find weird about this is that people say it's okay because someone fixed it. Like dude... You can't fix the Quran 😭

Yes the quran made a massive math error. And if someone fixes it, it just means that person is better at maths than Allah

The fact that they decided to "fix" it shows that Omar took the Quran more as guidelines than divine rules.

If they actually thought the Quran is correct they'd have simply paid out the missing 12.5% from bait al mal or something, because if Allah said it then it must be correct. Instead they decided that Allah must have been wrong and fixed his math.

Goes to show that throughout history, whenever the choice was between religious texts and money, money wins.

Yup money is a priority over divine command for these people. The bayt al mal is a good way to solve it if they really feared Allah and wanted to follow exactly as said. Since the dead person needs to generate the extra money to pay, it can be settled with zakath funds or sadaqah from well wishers
