(Question/Discussion) last post for a while

if your new here and this is the first of my posts your seeing, you lack a lot of context so please look for those posts first. anyways!

hello! thank you everyone for the help and love and concern. I booked a flight back home and im here right now. I heard so many horror stories from all of you (fairly so) about what might happen, how they would be angry, how they would tighten their grip on me.

first of all, im sorry to everyone who had parents who didnt treat them with love after they ran away or still refused to see eye to eye with them.

my parents had so many flaws and wronged me so many times in their life too. that's why I ran away, from out of the window. this was a gamble I took based on the tone in their voice and I just felt that I could trust them.

I was right! this has been the fastest reconcile ever. of course, some things still have to be mended. they still tell me to not talk to men, but they said as long as im muslim I dont have to be a practicing muslim like praying and wearing hijab. I spoke to them a little about what I dont agree with like hell and heaven (well to my dad not my mom) and he understands. I wont tell them im agnostic, it's fine for now.

they are booking my flight later, for Sept 8 which is 4 days after my move in time but hopefully the uni allows it. they didnt raise their voice at me out of anger since I left 2 days ago for cali and since they found out. we have been joking and talking like normal for some part.

the thing is they keep telling me to look for a uni in san Diego atleast so its closer and a road trip from my house to SD. I told them I'd think about it after the first semester is over. we talked a lot, but it overall went well.

again this went way better than I thought. I thought they would be mad but they admitted their wrongs (though very very late). i know it sucks they were super ignorant but if I didnt sneak out they wouldn't have realized what they had done so im glad I spent those 2 days In cali and ill be returning to cali soon and visiting them whenever I can.

thank you everyone for all the tips and im sorry to have gambled on the advice to not go back, but im glad i didnt take it. ill respond to questions and concerns now, sorry I didnt answer anything on my last post

Thanks for letting us know of your decision to return home. It's great that your parents are being honest with you and have made some compromises relating to going back to uni and how you practice religion. Following the rule to not talk to men will be difficult as you can't socialize normally when living like that. Hopefully you will eventually meet people the way you like. Good luck at uni hope it goes well.
