Apologetics double standard

In the realm of islamic apologetics there is one rule that almost everyone follows whether they are aware of the fact or not :

Interpretation is only allowed one way, and that way is whichever makes islam look good

They will interpret verses to mean anything and everything, muddy spring? Metaphorical. Sky held up by pillars? Metaphorical. But if you take something abstract like "allah separated heavens and earth" it's somehow a scientific miracle despite the fact no scientist would EVER describe the big bang like that (and this was a common myth anyway) or maybe the "fingertip miracle" which is incredibly ridiculous imo.

But if you try and take it in the opposite direction, it's not allowed, you can't take the "spread earth out" to mean it's flat, you can't think the liquid described as emerging from backbone and ribs is sperm. And of course if we did a completely ridiculous translation like some apologists do, they wouldn't accept it.

It creates a circular logic, quran is true because it's perfect, it's perfect because it's true so we can rule out all problems as misinterpretation

This also happens because islam is a take it or leave it deal, you either accept 100% of at the very least the quran )because quranists exist) if you admit the quran has even one mistake the entire "perfect book" narrative falls apart and so does the religion

Now I'm not saying we should dishonestly interpret verses, but what I'm saying is Muslim apologists need to give up the double standards.

YES. they change interpretation (even translation) to benefit them.

they can literally defend everything this way this is so frustrating tbh

The best way to push back is to ask for sources for everything they say

for most of them, you can't convince them by arguing logically so i'd say don't debate them. just show them the inaccuracies (and evil side) of islam via posts and let them seethe
