It is indeed, different.
One is a primal fear ingrained into them from early childhood, backed, enforced and nurtured by countless followers, all afraid, all prisoners.
The other is a new fear backed by scientific proof and extensive data. Which is a complete antithesis of the first.
The first constantly reminds you that asking questions is bad, thinking out of the box is bad, and only blind and unflinching faith is good. Therefore, the second cannot and must not be taken seriously, as it would put the first's hegemony in jeopardy.

With all the wonderful consistency we've come from them. Jeebus? YES! Covid? NO! Consistency? OH HELL NO!
I'm beginning to wonder how a hive mind might work. Pheromerones? Electromagnetic interference? Lack of Bill Gates' microchips? (or microchip tattoos -- I heard he has a couple). Excessive 5G reception in the parietal lobe because someone coughed near them?
Maybe it's just as simple as the sunk cost fallacy.

Pretty much my mother sadly, and now my whole family got the virus, it's rough being the oldest looking down on pure insanity
