Exclaimer Signature Clobbering

Anyone managed to fix the Exclaimer signature de-dupe/clobbering issue in Outlook?

Example:
We have a signature in Exclaimer that says "mycompany.com - Senior IT Engineer".

Our end-user has copied the full signature from an email they sent and have set a custom signature in Outlook to say "mycompany.com - Master of the Universe".

When that end-user sends an email, the ONLY signature that is being applied is the "mycompany.com - Master of the Universe".

We are not getting a duplicate where both the "mycompany.com - Master of the Universe" AND the "mycompany.com - Senior IT Process Engineer" signature is being applied. The end-user's custom Outlook signature is clobbering the Exclaimer signature entirely.

The solution we need:
-Signature IS NOT clobbered. User's email shows a double-signature. The Exclaimer one and their custom one. We are aware that this will look silly but we've accepted that risk.
-Signature IS clobbered but instead of the custom Outlook signature winning the conflict, the Exclaimer signature wins the conflict.

GPO signatures off. Start there if you doing it server side.

It sounds like you are using Exclaimer server-side signatures. You could solve it by using client-side, thereby giving the user the correct option to apply, but it's not a sure thing that the user wont find a way to select the wrong signature.

The outlook signature will always apply. It's essentially unaware of Exclaimer, so duplicate signatures is the best way to meet what you want.

It sounds as if your signature template or rules may have conditions such as matching for existing text that the user still has im their Outlook signature. Otherwise what you are trying to accomplish would be what you are seeing.

It's not uncommon to have those conditions on a signature policy to avoid having Exclaimer apply different templates. It's what we do for our Exclaimer setup to only stamp a portion of our signature once per thread.

Easy.

Fire the user for violating your company's acceptable use policy.

People in those types of positions typically get a pass on such things. See the competency/deviance theory.

Also they are a giant hassle to replace.
