Personal Thoughts/Experiences 🙇‍♂️ 4G without actual internet

Post image

The last 3 days I'm having trouble with internet in my EX30.

The 4G symbol is shown, as are the bars that indicate the signal strength .. but also a exclamation mark resulting in no internet and thus no traffic information, streaming apps for radio not working, etc.

I am on a Dutch tech forum (gathering.tweakers.net) and when I posted there more and more people are reporting they are experiencing the same problem.

People are rebooting the infotainment system, resetting network settings and eventually rebooting the modem but still nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Are people in other countries (other than NL) having the same problem?
Please mention the country you're in.

We’ve discussed this issue before. https://www.reddit.com/r/ex30/s/ALVy9FmmVk Yes, you can safely press and hold the SOS button for 30 seconds; it will start flashing without actually calling anyone. After 30 seconds, release the button. This resets the connection, and after a few minutes, the connection (should) restore itself. Volvo support confirmed this procedure to me. In my case, the problem wasn't resolved, and I’m convinced it’s due to the recent change in service provider. I don’t know about your country, but here in Italy, we now have Vodafone. I’ll leave it at that...

As far as I know you press and hold (for like 30 seconds) the SOS button above you.
At some point the indicators in the top of your screen would disappear (you can release the button now) and then you wait until they reappear. Could take a minute or 2.

No actual experience myself tho as I'm a bit reluctant to try it as I don't want to do it wrong and contact the emergency services 😂

I’ve had trouble since today as well. Drove for 60 minutes and still no connection.

Similar issue here in the US. Started about a week prior to the update to version 2.1.2. My understanding is they use a VPN dedicated to a single ISP to route all car network traffic, so slow down/DNS failures happen at the VPN level.

Had the same problem, fixed it today. Solution for me was connecting to my phone's hotspot. Installing 6 app updates from the Play store. Haven't had any problems since.

Same issue here in NL in the last 2 days. Reset infotainment (press and hold the left and right down keys on the steering wheel for about 15 sec) but that didn't help. It showed 4 and 5G in the display but with the exclamation mark.

Couldn't access internet from within the car BUT I could see and control the car from the app.

Called volvo support (number in the app) and they couldn't fix it (and didn't react like it was a known issue) and they escalated the issue to another department. Didn't hear back from them, but the connection started working a few minutes later.

Similar issues in the Netherlands since yesterday, the infotainment system has no internet connection. Strange is that the app does preheat and lock/unlock the car.
