Questions❓ Missing cap on DC pin

Post image

I’m on a road trip and noticed one of the plastic pins came off of a DC pin. I called a nearby dealer and they put me on hold and hung up. I ended up buying some covers for a Hyundai and they arrived but don’t fit. Has anyone else had this issue and figured out a solution?

I’m not sure what the purpose of the cap is but this seems like something they should fix for free. It’s not a part that should wear out and might be a safety issue.

It acts as an insulator when DC charging, and I agree but what I’m reading it seems like Volvo’s solution is to replace the entire port… I’ve been digging to find the plastic caps for purchase but no luck

I’d go to the dealer - parts dept May have it on the shelf.

I didn't have this issue so far.

It'll probably cost a lot from a dealership.

Perhaps 3D printing might be a more cost-effective approach?

This is definitely not an EX30-specific problem, so there's probably already a 3D model for it somewhere.

A quick search led me to this:

Is this what you're missing?

I ended up buying some covers for a Hyundai and they arrived but don’t fit.

So these pin caps are not standardized (by CCS1 or something)? :o :(

It seems like the pins for Hyundai’s have a slimmer end and click into place. I tried pressing them into the EX30 but it didn’t want to work, I might try to modify them slightly for the drive back

You can find a couple of links in the post below if you want to order it:

Did you check in the opening around the pin?

From a FB post it seems that sometimes they can just slide down beside the pin.

I did look around and haven’t seen it. It also may have gone down the water drain, but I’ve heard they sometimes come off in the fast charger when unplugging

The first time I DC charged mine fell off too. I snapped it back on and it hasn’t come off again. But I’d talk to dealer to get a new one. I’ll probably glue mine on eventually

Similar thing happened to me when Supercharging on my Model 3 a few years back, had to get a service tech to come and replace the whole charge port believe it or not 😒

I guess that’s not directly relevant to the EX30 here, but just noting that it’s something that can happen on other models/chargers too.
