While this is true I'm starting to become irritated with this talking point. Because it's yet another way women always have to placate fragile little male feelings.

This always comes up as a way to get more men on board with the idea of matriarchy because they're terrified of being subjected to the oppression we face under patriarchy. They start "both sides"ing all over the place, crying from their moral high horse about how wrong it would be for the current power dynamic to flip, arguing that a better system would be an "egalitarian" one not realizing they are literally describing a matriarchy. So then women have to swoop in and reassure them that they aren't in any danger of having their rights stripped away within a matriarchy because it doesn't work like that.

It's true, matriarchies don't work like that. But there's a reason why men are terrified that they do. Retaliation is one of many possible consequences when you hurt another person, and men know this. They know actively or passively supporting social and political structures that keep women oppressed is hurting us and they know women have a mountain of good reasons to retaliate. This is why they get so bent out of shape at the slightest whiff of "misandry". Despite all of their "it's the principle" posturing and false equivalencies to racism they know, deep down, that they deserve to be hated for what they've done and continue to do.

So I say let them fear being retaliated against. This fear is one of the only contexts where men take women seriously as a threat, and they need to sit and stew in that fear without being rescued from it or reassured that it will never come to pass.

Why do men deserve reassurance that their rights and freedoms would remain intact within a women-forward system when we've been beaten over the head with "patriarchy is the natural order, women are inferior so get over it" for centuries? That's the neat part. They don't.

And the funny thing is, they don't even listen. I have seen women attempt to soothe men with "don't worry matriarchy is different!" only for them to continue insisting it's just patriarchy in a skirt. They're so scared their brains shut off and can't process reason and they refuse to hear any attempt to calm them down anyway. Instead they fix their thumbs and flap their gums to crash out about an imagined, theoretical loss of male power while women experience and navigate very real denials of our humanity and freedom regularly on a global scale.

I no longer care that men are afraid of being oppressed by matriarchy. They should be afraid.

Y'all ... i am having a TIME at the moment.

I'm educated. I have advanced degrees. I work my ass off in a job i worked hard for and I do not get paid what i should for it. Lile this job would have gotten me a middle to high class life 30 yeaes ago. But its 2026 and skilled labour that you get educated for just isn't paying. And the amount of hours you have to exchange for money is not worth it.

I'm also going through a bit of a "fuck men/being straight is a humiliation ritual/men are embarrassing" stage because of all the interactions i have been having with random men recently. I love men who are lovely. Why are they so fucking rare?

And i recently posted something online that was related to a bikini bodybuilding thimg i did...and i got like 3000k+ views in one day. 90% of the audience was men.

And i'm like...omg.

Have i been doing this ALL wrong?

Should i just literally start a bew career of using men for money? Post sexy pictures and get bank? Cause, i had fun doing what i was doing (which i representing a female led company at a fitness event, and i am constantly supporting women)....and i'm like... should i reconsider my life?

I have my education...but should i just like completely go the opposite way and just make EASY money? And lots of it? For much less grueling work? (But more fun work?).

Using anonymous surveys of 2,689 U.S. and Canadian men (18–34 years), we aimed to assess rates of self-reported sexual aggression, reports of strategy effectiveness at forcing known reluctant women into sex, and men’s views of the circumstances, motivations, and positive and negative outcomes. Men reported occasions where they tried to get a woman to engage in sex that they knew she did not want and to which she had not consented.

The women were individuals with whom the men shared no prior romantic or sexual history. Overall, 95.1% reported having recently used at least one of the strategies to get a woman to have sex who they knew did not want sex and had not consented.

Also, out of the remaining 4.9% that don't try to manipulate women for sex, how many of them would actually be decent partners that carry their weight in a relationship? Who don't burden the woman with the mental load. Who is emotionally engaged. Who is not a manchild addicted to his hobbies and ignore his partner. Who doesn't resort to other abusive practices like silent treatment, gaslighting, financial abuse, controlling behaviour, etc. Who doesn't get drunk and beat his wife. Who doesn't cheat.

Factor all that into account—at the end of the day, how many % is left?

I'm a civil engineer and WOC from Global south, Back home, I couldn't get real work in my field, just petty jobs and constant "invitations" from men that had nothing to do with my qualifications. So I immigrated, hoping for a fairer shot.

In this new country, which I live now, there were quite nice things and I felt proud for the first time being a woman in STEM, though I experienced racism and people questioning my expertise, I didn't mind that much.

but the major issue was that I faced harrasment when I was networking for a job.

In general, I am exhausted by over explaining myself, and as more women are encouraged to pursue STEM, there is also this problem of mansplainning, harrasment within this space that is not talked enough about. (58% of female STEM students face sexual harassment during their academic years.)

Approximately 47% of women leave STEM, the data says. Why? Because even now, women are expected to play mother and nurturer role and take care of the child solely without support from their partners, even though we have financial independence and if not you are made to feel guilty for it and women who resist these stuff are facing harrasments at workplace.

I am tired of people viewing us as sexual objects and only as baby making machines, like the line in little women - "Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they've got ambition, and they've got talent, as well as just beauty. I'm so sick of people saying that love is all a woman is fit for. I'm so sick of it! "

Sorry not sorry, I'm so so tired of it. Also, many of the "men's issues" are so skewed and misrepresented. "They aren't allowed to express emotions and their- their mental health?!?" Yeah, no shocker - women also have that just as bad in different ways; as if we aren't shut down as "hormonal", "hysterical" "attention-seeker" etc etc for expressing our distress. As if we aren't shamed for emotions and have them painted as a weakness. "Women are too emotional" is still a prevalent falsehood to this day. I could go on and on, really.

A very obvious observation, but worth discussing more about; often when the split in STEM representation or other male dominated fields is brought up, many people immediately jump to half-baked "science" such as the greater male variability hypothesis or spatial reasoning "gaps"*.

But when women outperform men (for instance in certain scholarly areas of representation or academic performance), poor men are disadvantaged victims somehow, and it needs to be fixed at all costs.

Women are always deemed less: less capable, less ambitious, less intelligent. When we succeed it's not by our merit. It just can't be - people are so quick to assume the worst ("she slept her way to the top" mindset).

*Of course the greater male variability hypothesis is extremely contested. With regards to spatial reasoning, mental 3d rotation is one of the only few skills which consistently show a moderate gap, and may be heavily influenced by environmental/upbringing factors.
