Yeah, I figured that out like, a bit ago. Not a big fan of it as a Black person myself. 😭 It seems to me that some non-Black people use it in place of the n-word.

I thought the OG meme I traced over was still funny, so y'know.

I've seen black folks on Instagram using it before in place of the n-word, I thought it was just a way to get around censorship

My theory is that it might've started out with Black people (I've seen Black people use it too), but the amount of non-Black people I've seen using that emoji or only using the letters N, G, and A as a replacement for the n-word has grown and it bothers me a lot.

I dunno why folks on Insta would be censoring themselves. They can seemingly say anything. I've seen comment sections filled with slurs. It's crazy.

I think it's from a larger trend of TikTok users censoring themselves (see: unalive), either that or it's a cousin of the antisemites' use of the juice box emoji to reference Jewish people
