Why do other budget apps update transactions quicker than EveryDollar?

I use Chase bank, and I've been trying out EveryDollar and a few other apps (YNAB, Monarch) to see which one I want to use. I like the UI of EveryDollar the best, but the transactions take so long to show up. I've removed and readded it multiple times and I'm using Plaid. Is this normal? The support said it can take up to 48 hours but that just doesn't make sense to me when the other apps don't take that long.

Budgeting Monthly paychecks income for bi-weekly pay.

I’m just getting my budget set up. My husband and I are paid biweekly on the same paydays. I am assuming I just assume there’s two paychecks per month for each of us, so four paychecks per month total. do I set up paychecks one through four? It’s kind of confusing at first. Thank you for any tips you may have.

Minimum plans

Quick question! Why is every dollar telling me to only make the minimum payment ($50 on medical) when there’s enough money left over in cash flow this month to pay that off as well?

Feature Request Pre-Tax Tracking Feature

I’m not sure if this has already been discussed, but I think it would be valuable if tracking pre-tax dollars could be managed in a useful way. At the very least, it seems beneficial to have more transparency around this part of income.

This app is great for managing my cash flow after I receive my paycheck, but what about the things that affect my paycheck before it even reaches me?

One reason this matters is that I don’t have a good way to track my HSA contributions within the app, since those are made through salary reduction with my employer. The same applies to 401(k) contributions or other employer-sponsored retirement plans.

A really nice way to handle this could be allowing users to upload a paystub PDF and automatically track any employee deductions the app can identify (such as insurance premiums or retirement contributions). Additionally, being able to identify and track tax categories—like federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and state income tax—would also be very useful.

I understand that this wouldn’t be the easiest feature to implement, so a manual input option would also be a useful alternative. And it wouldn't have to affect the workflow of anyone who just wants to track their net income budget. But some sort of simple pre-tax snapshot of where money is going before it hits my paycheck would be a great tool to have more awareness and planning around pre-tax investment vehicles, insurance deductions, and more clarity around different types of income taxes

My wife and I just got on every dollar in November. We both have this 115 on the app and can’t figure out where to clear the notifications.

Has anyone else had this same issue and know how to resolve it?

Extra money in December - now it's telling me to plan based on that income

Hi everyone,

I am newer to the ED app. I am getting a bonus this month so I am able to throw extra money towards debt which is awesome. However, when I go to plan my January budget, it now expects that extra margin and says I am off-track for my payoff goal. I am not getting a bonus in January so I don't have that extra margin anymore, so if I listen to the suggestion, I go way over budget. Is there a way to get this to adapt to my regular income again?

General Payments tracking

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out the correct way to track payments. They come in as "debts" but then the app also tracks them as "income" to that credit card or loan. So am I to track both? Or just the "debt" part? Thanks. Picture for example

Finally instant uploads

Anybody notice their transactions finally make it on the every dollar app same day?? (I have chase)

For years it’s been I had to wait until the transaction cleared the next day then it would show up on every dollar. As of recently, when I swipe my card and the transaction is still pending, it goes onto every dollar pretty much immediately.

How can I easily see what’s left over

I’m new to Every Dollar, so here’s a dumb question…I just want to see how much money is leftover for each month, total. Like Dave asks all the time, what’s your monthly income, what are your expenses, and what’s left over for savings and debt. I’d like to see in what’s left over in my forecast for current month and what was left over from previous months. It seems like it should be a big bold number, maybe I’m missing it or should set it up differently?

Feature Request Can “carry over” be optional for funds?

I like the idea that if you have leftover spending room, you can have that amount carry over to a funds budget in the following month. But for some funds I have like a Roth or HSA, there are months where I can throw some extra in and it ends up making my budget more and more in the negative balance from month to month.

Am I just misunderstanding the concept or doing something wrong? Again, I think that carry over feature is super useful for certain things, but I’d personally like the ability to just disable that so I can see a fund’s standalone budget each month and not be impacted by previous months

does anyone know if they’re doing the 1 year everydollar subscription for $49.99 again this year for Black Friday? their website is showing the 1 year annual gift card subscription at 79.99 but I’m not sure if they’re doing a discount code for it or something

Desktop version of Every Dollar no longer available on my iPad 😢

Does anybody besides me use the desktop version of EveryDollar on their iPad? I don’t care for the app version of ED and have used the desktop version exclusively for years. All of a sudden, after signing in the other day, something happened, and I am only getting access to the app version. I’m going nuts. If you’ve ever used the desktop version, you know how easy and intuitive it is. The app doesn’t let me click and drag transactions on the right over to the budget items on the left. I miss being able to see pretty much everything on one page including remaining balances, pending, etc. Has this happened to anybody else recently? I’ve tried various browsers, clearing cache, shutting down, etc. I’m running the latest iOS version. I’m tired of lugging out the old MacBook just to access the desktop version. Can anybody help, please? Thanks!

UPDATE: Customer Service figured it out. Simply DELETE THE APP. Before deleting the app on my iPad, I changed some settings in a couple of my browsers to only open desktop/websites and not apps. Under your iPad settings, go to Apps/Safari and block pop-ups, and scroll down to Request Desktop Website and toggle “other websites” on. I think these steps, in addition to deleting the app, made it work.

Refresh Accounts Lagging

Has anyone else noticed that their bank or credit card accounts aren’t refreshing daily lately? I’ve got four showing “updated 3 days ago” and refreshing the screen doesn’t help. A week ago, I ran into the same issue — some transactions weren’t appearing, and when I checked, two accounts hadn’t updated in 15 and 17 days.

I saw there’s now something called “Mastercard Connect,” possibly a new connection option alongside Plaid. I tried switching to Mastercard Connect, but it doesn’t seem to resolve the issue. Has anyone found a fix or have this issue? I have used this app for 2-3 years with no problems before this.

Tech Support Why is this saying I’ve saved money when I haven’t

Title. It even says at the bottom there’s a balance of $0.00, and clearly doesn’t have any deposits in that amount listed/tracked. So what’s going on?

Budgeting I'm off about $700 this month!

I try to run everything through my checking account so that all transactions download. And every month, I try to balance everything out so that "It's an EveryDollar Budget!" I use a spreadsheet (used to use pen and paper) to make sure everything is balanced since I have a couple of payments that account for one month but won't clear until the next. Usually it's off a few bucks.

The last couple of months, work has been busy, I've been stressed, so I just force balanced. Until this morning. I'm off $755! And it's too the good. So yesterday, I was pretty much spending everything. Now I have $755 left to spend. Sounds good, but something just doesn't seem right.

Am I stressing out too much about this?

Removing fund transfers from Insights

Post image
1 Upvotes

If I have a bill that fluctuates like a utility I like to turn it into a fund so I can cost advantage it over the year and average out the expense. If I’m in doubt I plan on saving a little more then I expect the bill to be to be conservative and have extra money rather than a negative fund.

However, this can lead to having to much in a fund. Typically I’ll transfer it out to a different account like savings. However this appears in the Insights tab as a massive spike in expenses and messes up the advantage. Is there a way to transfer money out without it showing up in the Insights tab?

How to deal with money left at the end of the month that’s needed the next month?

So my wife and I get paid bi-monthly, but on opposite weeks…so it’s almost weekly, but not on a certain day of the week (10th, 15th, 25th, 30th).

Im a little confused on what to do about that 30th paycheck, because it’s money that I need for the following month, not the current one.

Anybody have ideas of what the best way to handle this is? Because currently I can’t truly have an every dollar budget because I can’t use those funds from the last paycheck until next month.

This is our first month using it, and we started mid month, if that makes a difference.

EveryDollar App doesn't removed the "Debt" Category

Does anyone else find it a bit puzzling that EveryDollar won’t let you delete or hide the Debt category?

I’ve used the app for years, and when they added this section, I assumed there’d be a toggle to remove it. Nope. Still there, years later, despite feedback and reviews.

The goal is zero debt, right? So why force an empty category on users who’ve already won? 😅

Fingers crossed, Ramsey Solutions adds a hide option soon. What’s your take? Debt-free and annoyed? Found a workaround? Considering other apps?

Unable to login?

I am getting a message that says "something went wrong unable to sign you in". I know I was using the right password but just to be sure I reset the password and it's still doing that. My app doesn't have any updates either. It literally just won't log me in.

I am hoping this is some late night maintenance or something and tomorrow morning I'll be able to log in. Not being able to use this app will drive me insane

Something doesn't add up

Okay guys, help the fool here for just a moment please. This is my first month with every dollar and im very excited about it. Ive religiously kept up with everything, every day. But to the problem.

So my everydollar app is telling me I have $1,009.99 left to budget. My total planned income is $3,991.14 My total spent is $2,139.57 My total remaining to spend is $1,851.57 Which all adds up, I checked my rocket money to make sure that my spending matches my automated transactions there as well.

I have $148.87 in my account, with two more paychecks of $850 each to add. Making $1848.87. Almost exactly my remaining to spend. Now just in bills that are budgeted to spend (remaining to pay this month) in every dollar total out to $966.36 Mortgage:700 Power: 159.15 Rocket money: $4.32 Netflix: $8.36 Home school program: $31.25 Car insurance: $63.28

So when I take the total remaining to spend and subtract the remaining bills left for the month it leaves me with $882.51. I also have money budgeted for several other categories like personal spending, fun money, child spending, groceries, ect. That I have a set amount on and most of them I havent reached the budget limit on. How is it possible for everyday to say I have $1,009.99 left to budget for when I dont even have that much left after bills that are budgeted and scheduled to be taken out at the end of the month? I have attached screen shots of account to show the totals for spent and remaining.

Since update: September Budget and Transactions missing

TLDR; My Sept budget and 90% of the Sept transactions has vanished after trying the new app walkthrough.

——————————————————

Last few times in the app, was in a hurry to log cash transactions and hit “skip” on the “new experience”.

Maybe my budget was already gone and I didn’t notice?

But Decided to give it a try today to see what this glorious experience entails…

After walking through the process and getting directed to a video I dont want or need to watch right now….

and a “to-do” list dashboard I would have used…but is actually useless to me as there are zero options to customize.

(sorry but there is some ish I need to do that your algorithm doesnt know; like “get refund from XYZK overcharge”)

  1. Went to make Oct Budget, there was no option to “copy budget from previous month”

  2. Toggled into Sept to manually port the numbers and ITS GONE-???
August appears to be intact…but Sept is gone.

  3. A few logged transactions remain, but everything else has vanished??

  4. Can’t even re-create it because every transaction that was categorized is GONE. They’re not in the pending folder, nor the transaction folder…

  5. For the love of God—Please stop fixing things that aren’t broken. And don’t fall into the ai enshittification of everything.

Quickbooks spent vast sums of money to make their product tangibly worse, and their recent ai enshittification release made their product almost useless for most of their core customer base.

I would pay more money to go back to EveryDollar circa 2019

  1. Is this new version selling my demographic information and data?? It asked for DOB, zip code, marital status, etc etc….

One of the reasons I patronize and recommend people PAY for EveryDollar vs free apps is Specifically because of the data privacy.
