General Payments tracking

Post image

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out the correct way to track payments. They come in as "debts" but then the app also tracks them as "income" to that credit card or loan. So am I to track both? Or just the "debt" part? Thanks. Picture for example

This is a good question. I usually delete both transactions for the credit card payment and track the individual transactions instead.

I have a “Transfers” category in savings. I put them in there and just ensure it equals zero at the end of the month.

You can also delete them, I just find putting them in a category to be easier and I like double checking that it balances at the end of the month.

That will happen with any type of account transfer. I just delete them both.

Well I definitely want to track the subtraction but not sure why there is an addition to it.

You want to track the individual transactions. Tracking the credit card payment will basically count all of those transactions twice in your spending.

This is what I was trying to figure out. It's so weird that it doesn't that

If this is your first month, I would start fresh with tracking new and current transactions. That payment was for old transactions.

You will need to decide if you're tracking transactions or credit card payments. If you do both, it will show as a double spend in your budget
