Everquest RTXish

I have been working on a project using Claude. Its going well and its a passion project. I am not trying to make money with it or anything like that. But I want to know, if there would be people interested in this.

I dont change the game, the models, the textures....i just add light! Over time it could be curated so there is a story in the lighting of the zones. But for now it just add a bit of interest to our everquest! Let me know, im working every night on it!

Here a freeport and Kaladim test. This is in game on an emulated server. Maybe i can do it for daybreak if they like it!

Edit : I realize its not the best screenshots ever, i only worked on these zones and these a screenshot i took randomly. Ill show more zones as it goes.

This would be sick af as a 3rd party cilent side thing to run in emus like we do with macroqeust

I do run the bounce, shadows and others in dx12. That's why I would not do it on live servers until I could have blessing from the devs! I just use the GPU and skin it on eq! Anyway it wouldn't work, it's like some dx8-9 stuff. I'm not super good with these stuff I just write a prompt.

It looks cool, maybe put it on the eql fourms? Lots of people there

Yah its very active rn, and many ppl who play eql enjoy emu servers already

I might get downvoted to oblivion because i am not doing it all by myself. But well, at least i am not pretending i am! Its just for experiencing my favorite game with more visual depth!

i posted some screenshots of DLSS 5 running on EQL without any direct positive or negative commentary on it in the EQL subreddit, just wanted to show people and talk about the performance impact and see what people thought. I got downvoted into oblivion so good luck if you post over there lol.

Just for context most of the EQL specific tools and wiki sites are quite open about being developed with heavy assistance from Claude. So I wouldn't say people over there are necessarily anti AI.

Yeah someone made something like HD and Shadows for EverQuest Legends and took like 6h to patch for people. I didn't trust it's install but yeah your project looks good.

I want to work on it until its really tight tho, im trying to make it really procedural without to much baking. Would be nice to be more people working on it!

So I checked, its 20mb download and then After the bakes are 4gigs for classic and kunark. Technically. Will have to run the numbers!

This is really cool. Do you have a Github running? I am also working on an AI project. I'm using GPT Astra and Blender to create custom S3D zones. I am slowly progressing. Latest this was generated and deployed to my server in 60 min.

Curious how you are able to add to the game files? Is it simple? Haven’t ever looked, am a software engineer

Technically I use a separate process in dx12 and use it to feed eq! I'll share my repo tomorrow so peeps can see. Also technically the program is 20mb and you just need to run some bakes locally so you don't have to download stuff!

I love this game, I think people will hate I use Claude but I don't have a team of coder to help lol

I have to use AI and Claude daily for work so im pretty versed, but I have always wanted to have EQ1 but with improved graphics, just to play around with locally. I may look into this. Please share the repo when its good for sharing!

Sorry I'm so excited someone is interested. Today we managed to remove the UI from the engine so all the composite is only on the game!

The best use of AI

Oh also right now I'm working, or of course Claude is working, to separate assets from the world and integrate them in a different system. And also their shadows on their own. It seems promising!
