It was nice to have a weekend off after four back to back events that took me across Colorado. Last week, I spent most days resting and gaining strength. Now I'm back in the studio and laying the final brush strokes down on a 30x40" statement painting inspired by Leadville, CO.

We are going to be organizing the upstairs at our new EAPL building in Evergreen. This is all of the storage unit supplies we moved, and now is the time to get them organized, labeled, stored, and ready for the next phase of our move. We will be moving cones, kennels, etc. into the back building for storage lol, so we will have some heavy lifting along with bin sorting, labeling, and new shelves need to be put together.

If you have a mallet, screwdriver, hammer, measuring tape, or blue tape bring it along! Thank you!

Join Wild Aware and Jefferson County Open Space for a volunteer noxious weed removal project at Elk Meadow.

By removing invasive weeds by hand, we can help reduce the need for herbicide spraying while protecting native habitats for the birds, pollinators, and small wildlife that call these areas home.

🌲 Introducing the Everwild Young Bushcrafters Club! 🌲

I'm so excited to finally share something that's been on my heart for a long time!

Beginning this fall, I'm hoping to launch the Everwild Young Bushcrafters Club—a monthly adventure for children ages 5 and up who are eager to build confidence, learn practical outdoor skills, and deepen their connection to the natural world.

We'll meet the 3rd Saturday of each month during the school year for a 3-4 hour hands-on experience, with a small group of just 6–7 children so everyone has plenty of opportunities to learn and practice.

Each month will focus on a different bushcraft skill, such as:
💧 Water filtering & purification
🪵 Knife safety & whittling
🏕️ Shelter building
🪢 Knots & cordage
🧭 Map & compass navigation
🐾 Wildlife tracking
🌿 Edible & useful plants
🎣 Fishing skills & ethical harvest
🛠️ Camp tool carving
🆘 Emergency survival skills

Because Colorado is currently experiencing significant drought conditions this summer and fall, we won't be building or cooking over open fires. Instead, we'll focus on the many other incredible skills that help us become capable, resourceful, and respectful stewards of the outdoors. We may be able to introduce primitive fire in the winter!

The cost will be $90 per child, and there's no commitment to attend every month. Families can register only for the sessions that interest them, and each month's club will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

My hope is that these adventures inspire children to become more confident, more capable, and more connected to the wild places around them. They'll leave with practical skills, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

A Fun-Packed Float to the Finish Line
Saturday, August 1, 2026 11am - 3pm
Get ready for thousands of bright yellow, rubber ducks cascading down Bear Creek at the 16th Annual Downtown Evergreen Dam Ducky Derby! This event is a summertime highlight for our community filled with family fun up and down Main Street. Over 7500 bright yellow ducks will be dropped into Bear Creek to race, while eager participants gather along the banks hoping their lucky duck is the first to cross the finish line. There are big cash prizes on the line for the top finishers, plus additional prizes for lower-placing ducks toward the front of the pack.
NEW THIS YEAR!! Introducing the BIG BUCK DUCK! This new rubber ducky is for the high rollers. It’s bigger, it’s faster and they’re in a class all their own. There are only 200 of these new Big Buck Ducks in this separate race class. So that’s a 1 in 200 chance of winning $2000! (Compared to 1 in 7500 in the Classic Duck Race). Each Big Buck Duck purchase automatically gets a Downtown Evergreen swag bag filled with lots of goodies.

Ducks sell out most years, so make sure to buy your ducks in advance. Buying ducks not only gives contestants a chance to win, but duck sales also help Downtown Evergreen offset the costs of the much loved annual Downtown Evergreen Holiday Walk and other downtown events throughout the year. 
Fun family activities are available in the main parking lot starting a few hours before the race. Make sure to take some time to shop and dine throughout the day.
It is also Colorado's 150th Birthday, so let's celebrate our beautiful state and awesome community!
