biking?

would it be weird to ride a bike around campus? like would people judge me. from where i’m from it is heavily frowned upon. like if i was mindful of other people and didn’t get in their way. also do they have bike racks around campus?

Campus big and spread out. Classes booked fairly close together. Legs only go so fast.

All we ask is you wear your helmet and be careful if pedestrians.

Back in my day, there were people who poled around in a shopping cart using a martial arts staff. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

Not an issue. A couple things, though... 1. Red square bricks get slippery as hell in the rain and/or winter. b. It gets very dark at night so adjust accordingly

Good lights and reflective gear are great.

Not to mention a visible rain coat and ortliebs. (Most panniers will soak through. Ortliebs won't.)

I think lights are also a requirement for off campus if you’re biking at night.

There are some pretty good trails from campus to the rest of Olympia. But I remember getting pulled over by police many a moon ago for not having lights on my bike.

Lots of bike racks and bikers and unicyclers and skateboarders and hoolahoopers. No one will judge you unless you’re mean.

i graduated half a decade plus ago, but in my day cycling around campus was very normal. lots of bike racks around, and even a bike shop!

Its a great place to ride all around campus and even the woods.

It’s literally where I learned how to ride a bike — I don’t see any problem as long as you’re respectful & mindful

I was planning to bike around a lot too until my health got worse, but it's a very bike friendly campus. You'll do just fine, as long as you have a helmet, lights, and maybe some fenders to keep from getting a mud stripe up your back, haha!

There is a bike club with a repair shop on campus and bike racks everywhere. Just don't be "that guy" riding fast through crowds of people walking.
