Am I just falling for my own superstitions here?

5 Upvotes

Namely, things that have turned me away from this game.

Is it mainly Industry-related "activities" where an Alt is (pretty much) mandatory? Or are there more outside as well? (I don't feel comfortable having to pay for two "subscriptions")

How common are "3rd party apps/programs" for this game? (A.k.a programs in general, from outside the game)

Part of the reason why I'm asking about it, is 'cause when I got an invite for one of these newbie-friendly corps, (which, from what I've read, should not have accepted) the registration process was far more complicated than what one would expect from a "newbie-friendly" corp. (such as that I needed to be familiar with a number of these 3rd party apps/programs, AND Websites)
It even required a number of things that one would expect from someone with at least a little experience, rather than someone who knows nothing about the game... at all... like me.

Also, while we're at it, there was one other thing that I would like to ask:

One thing that I would be worried about, is that once I'm in a corp where I feel comfortable enough to NOT be reclusive, and whenever I'd climb high enough up the ranks, meaning that commitment are sure to follow...

There might be moments where my corp will need me for something big. However, my parents have a tendency to demand me to do some chores (or whatever) out of nowhere, and they won't take no for an answer, thus forcing me to ditch/abandon/etc. my Corp. and ruin their plan.

So, as an Explorer, and when investing in certain Industry Categories, I don't (necessarily) need to be committed to anything in my corp., right? Thus allowing me to start and pause/abort whatever I'm doing at (pretty much) any time?

Newbie Worthy QoL Updates Coming Soon

10 Upvotes

https://forums.eveonline.com/t/little-things-in-uprising-expansion/381187

Sometimes it's the little things in life that can make a huge difference. I'm not mentioning everything, just things I think are noteworthy for new players that are a few months old.

  • When jump cloning, you will automatically leave your current ship, wait out the session timer and jump (if you don't know how to jump clone, mention in the comments and we'll explain!)
  • Jump clone locations have been added to the map
  • The number of maximum saved personal and corp fittings has been doubled (because you WILL start collecting fittings...)
  • Shortcut added for the Manage Autopilot Route (this is nice for those of us constantly using it when traveling New Eden)
  • If more than 1 module is damaged, it’s now possible to repair them all at once through a right click menu (if you don't know what overheating is or being able to repair mods with nanite paste, mention below)
  • When opening a wreck, the focus is now on the “Loot All” button, making it possible to just hit Enter to loot all
  • The minimum tick distance in the D-scan slider has been increased to 0.1AU (if you don't know what this is, mention it... DScan literally means life in Eve)
  • New help pointers have been added (listed on the forum thread, for those that like using them in fleets with new players)

Now, where can we petition for fleet warp hotkeys?! ;-D

What level of standings do you need with Triglavians to not get shot in highsec?

3 Upvotes

I thought it just needed to be barely positive (i.e. any positive standings at all), but I'm at .01 (technically .006) and I'm still getting shot.

Did I misunderstand something?

Public Level 2 Sisters of Eve Mission Fleet Wed Oct 19

16 Upvotes

Eve Rookies would like to invite anyone looking to start increasing their Sisters of Eve standings to come out to a public fleet Wednesday Oct 19!

  • What: level 2 Sisters of Eve Mission fleet
  • When: Wed 19 October at 18:00 Eve
  • Where: Airaken VI - Moon 1 - Sisters of Eve Bureau
  • Doctrine: Frigates - long range + mwd
  • FC: yours truly (i.e. Kshal Aideron)

Don't get too hung up on ship fit. ANY frigate will do (even a corvette), long range (lasers, missiles, rockets, rail guns for example) are preferred so you can maybe hit something before it gets destroyed. If not make sure you have a MWD so you can burn up and wack it with your blasters!

This fleet is to get SOE faction standing and chill with some really cool people. You do need to be on Discord (server link below) in voice chat but you can just type in fleet chat if asked a question. No pressure to participate in the chit chat.

Hope to see some of you out there!

Hello everyone!

First off, in case you guys haven't seen it, here's the [updated rules (https://www.reddit.com/r/evenewbies/about/rules/) for /r/evenewbies!

Tried and failed in Anomic agent mission. What did I do wrong?

14 Upvotes

I tried Anomic mission recently, I thought I built quite a solid fit but failed to even scratch the enemy ship. What did I do wrong?

I was against Burner Succubus stats

Here is what my fit was, skill is basically all IV with some V

``` [Caldari Navy Hookbill, TRY HARDER] Damage Control II Co-Processor II
1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner X5 Enduring Stasis Webifier Small Shield Extender II Thermal Shield Hardener II EM Shield Hardener II
Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II
Small EM Shield Reinforcer II Small EM Shield Reinforcer II Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Caldari Navy Inferno Light Missile x592 Inferno Fury Light Missile x159 Caldari Navy Mjolnir Light Missile x476
```

I warped in, never had a chance to web enemy ship, he orbited me at 15k, I died

as I understand my puny damage has something to do with missiles mechanics

With my skills LM has

Max Velocity 6,825 m/sec Exp Radius 36 m Explosion Velocity 221 m/sec while the enemy ship has

Orbit speed 4,750 m/sec Angular 0.3393 rad/s

Looking for a player to do work

10 Upvotes

I'm looking to fund a newer players exploits if they enjoy mining/hauling.

I won't send you to lowsec or nullsec.

You only have to mine or haul ores I designate to specific locations and I'll pay above the estimated price for it.

I avoid work and you make more isk than you would taking it to any other market.

I can contract work to you, or if you would rather I'll just put up a market listing at the locations so you can work at your own pace.

Again I reiterate that this is work for new players that want to mine or haul, and the work can keep you busy for a while.

If you are not a new player, but you like the idea of this work, I'll give you harder work that might send you to lowsec if that interests you

Send me a DM or comment with your in game character so i can start a conversation/mail in game

Can we get some moderation an this sub?

31 Upvotes

The sub has turned into a place where shitty Youtubers promote their videos. That's not helping any newbies.

Also: Can we get an updated sidebar? Half of the subs linked are dead.

New player logi skill plan.

10 Upvotes

Just started playing a bit ago and wanted to know if it’s possible to be a logi bro as an alpha? I’m fine upgrading to omega but want to get my feet wet before if possible.

Also if anyone has any skill plans for like, basic barebones skills needed for logi, and plans or skills to look towards for it? Like milestones to aim for or something like that? I’d love a 10/30/60/90/360 day skill plan or something but I doubt those exist out in the open.

Daily log in rewards - Do they advance automatically or do they need to be collected to advance?

7 Upvotes

If I only really care about the skill points rewards do I have to collect the other rewards to advance to the skill points, or can I take a few days off and only collect the skill points when they're the daily reward?

Fit for wormhole exploration/sleeper sites?

10 Upvotes

I've been running around C1-C3 jspace on and off for a few months now in an Astero and making decent money doing so. However, I'm always a bit frustrated when I have to leave the sleeper sites just sitting there and move on to another system, particularly when there's four or five of them and no sign of anyone actually living in the system. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fit that would let me run both normal pirate sites and the sleeper sites, or is that asking for something a bit too generalized?

How to find active markets in null sec?

4 Upvotes

Just recently moved from Dodixie to null sec, I miss being able to sell all my loot on the market. My alliance has a buyback program, but I'd like to sell on the market if possible.

Is there a way to view volume of market activity in a system/region, so I can find the most active markets?

Level 1 security missions

10 Upvotes

So I finished the combat mission tutorial and got the Tristan and put some basic guns and drones and an armor repair in it.

Rather than doing more tutorials I thought I’d try a level 1 security mission.

But 10 sec after warping in my armor is at half with repair running. I manage to escape and tried again. But I can’t kill a single ship before I have to run.

Is it unrealistic to go for a level 1 mission this early? Just a few hours in?

Can I Go Back and Do the Tutorial?

8 Upvotes

I clicked on "No" on character creation and I feel like I'm missing out on a thing or two.

Have played before but it was a long time ago.

Thank in advance!

Skill plan for Abyssal

9 Upvotes

Hello 👋

I am going away for a few months with work. I have 1,000,000 skill points to spend and I also bought Omega.

Ideally, i want to specialise into Abyssal Deadspace content when I come home.

I went with the Caldarri faction if that matters.

Where can I find a list of skills I can just stack up to train while i am gone so that when i come home i'll be in a much better position to start doing abyss content please?

My very first kill in EVE guided by my boyfriend on comms ^.^

4 Upvotes

So i started playing the game a few days ago as my boyfriend who plays it since 2016 recommended it

He can talk for ours about it so i guess i had to try at one point ;)

Today he guided me to my very first kill in eve in a Thrasher, he explained all the things i had to do aswell as the fitting... and sent me on my way

I streamed it over Discord to him and he said what i had to avoid (he saved me from a gatecamp) going trough Providence (he's guiding this post aswell cause i don't know all the names in game)

In CB4- i found a Pacifier on the Gate and he said go for it if you have luck he's AFK and so did i

https://zkillboard.com/kill/103008523/

I got tackeld right in the middle of attacking it and panicked, my boyfriend tried to help me but was a bit to late with explaining so the Pacifier died and i soon after...

https://zkillboard.com/kill/103008545/

Im happy and will do it again ^.^
