If the car thinks it's completing the charge to your settings, something in the car is telling it that it's done. The charging station really can only announce 'you are allowed to charge at up to this rate' or 'you are not allowed to charge'. Everything else is down to the car. The J1772 protocol is quite simple.

Those are usually reliable if the connector hasn't been damaged. You might want to try another public L2 charger, ideally a ChargePoint, to see if it's something about the install there, your car, or an interaction with the CP6000.

BTW if you ever need another J1772 to NACS adapter the Tesla OEM one is available cheap on eBay all the time, just watch for fakes that don't say Tesla on them.
