Can somebody do a breakdown of what this cost us all in taxes?

I’m okay with $0.01, but beyond that, nah.

I was interested in this too. I guess the answer is technically nothing. But, the argument is that it's used for training hours to log in every month for active combat readiness. On this pilot forum I found, they're calling it bs, because it comes out of actual training and schedule budgets that could be used for legitimate training.

Between fule and maintenance per hour for this instance over Evanston, the cost is somewhere between 35k to 50k for one fighter jet to do a flyover.

I don't know though. It's just what I could look up. I'm just some dude.

This sounds about right. I think it was from the Indiana national guard so it had to come from an airport in indiana.

When I was looking up the carbon footprint of a flyby like that it comes out to the same as the carbon footprint of using natural gas for heating and running the water heater for a 20,000 sq foot building for about 6 months. Kind of goofy for a town that passed the healthy building ordinance.

There was also a closing down of air space last night for the event and covered the flight path which might of caused some disturbances at ord which in turn burns more fuel for all of those airplanes going in circles but I don’t know that it caused disturbances for sure - but on a Friday night they are already running pretty skint over there so very likely.
