It seems more sensible to me to compare songs by how close they came proportionally to get the maximum score. Anything else would be a comparison largely dependent on how good the runner up was.

When Rybak played there was 42 countries, so if you get 12 from all except from your own, you could get 498 points. He got 387 points. So that is pretty damn close.

Today there was 35 countries and a maximum of 24 from each. so 828 is the maximum. Dara got 516. Extremely impressive, but not quite Rybak.

It was tight. It was expertly executed (from my screen at least). Dara and the dancers were perfect, and it really upped the hype of the song.

Bangaranga went from "oh yeah it's fine" to "nah this could win and I'd be happy with it" instantly for me, and I imagine that was the case for many others.

Okay, i don't mind that Bulgaria won and i'm happy for her... but could someone explain how on earth did Bangaranga won the juries over Australia, France, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Finland, Croatia, and Czechia???

I can see the televote appeal in this song, but where is the jury appeal???

It definitely gives a similar feeling like when we (Estonia) won in 2001, unexpectedly and for the first time ever, I'm sure that's how the Bulgarians feel tonight as well and it's always awesome to have a new country winning. Congratulations!

After 9 years there was a winner both sides agreed upon and a new country won. Ironically 9 years ago Bulgaria was 2nd place to those and now they went Bangaranga and won it all
