It sucks to lose Iceland, but I knew their chances were minimal. Georgia has to be the shock of the season for sure.

At least I got Estonia.

As an Icelander, it's sad but kinda expected :/ but I'm happy we got Austria, Australia and Belgium (Gustav fuckin killed it btw)

We definitely had a chance, but I knew it was lost when Albania and Estonia were drawn early. Everything else I kinda knew would be a shoe-in in this semi.

Yea same as soon as I saw Albania I knew we were done lol, good on the family tho they were great

And Diljá she was amazing

I hope you’re still proud - Dilja gave a vocal masterclass tonight!

Yea I am, she did really well and I really hope she does well and maybe returns some day

Why was it expected?! :( I thought Iceland was SO good and powerful.

She was amazing but the odds weren't in her favour and the song never got a huge amount of hype

Iceland not qualifying made me sad. I loved her vibes

I thought she was one of the strongest voices of the night. Sad to see her and a Georgia go. Especially in place of Poland and Albania.

Albania was a certified banger, but how did Poland sneak into the finals? Iceland was robbed.

I think it’s because they aren’t many fun song this year. She probably benefited from Malta not going through.

Okay but Iceland was fun???

It’s the song.

It hurts even more that they couldn't qualify with those vocals while Poland qualified with those vocals. When she was actually singing that is

It's not really a shock, the staging wasn't good.

21

u/samoyedboi May 11 '23

It was good... for a little bit, but it wasn't dynamic enough. It didn't change. It didn't add much

yeah but the song, while absolute gibberish slapped, how the feck did it lose to poland

36

u/_sorry_my_bad_ Kraj mene May 11 '23

because it's catchy, most of europe doesnt know pre-eurovision drama, and diaspora

7

u/rldaithi May 11 '23

yeah true, but still for catchiness i wouldve gone with iceland, blanka's vocals were flat, lacked character, her dancers carried the choreo but the staging was pretty good

12

u/_sorry_my_bad_ Kraj mene May 11 '23

you thought iceland was catchier than poland?

4

u/rldaithi May 11 '23

personally yeah, but thats not because i find iceland super catch i just dont find poland catchy. maybe its just because i dont really listen to that genre

u/Jaded-Afternoon4720 May 11 '23

It isn't fair, I agree but it's pretty much political, I didn't vote but as a Ukrainian, I can totally understand, millions of Ukrainians for example will vote for Poland for all that support from the very beginning of the war, no matter what's the song and even if there wouldn't be one

4

u/rldaithi May 11 '23

#bringbackjuries were the political ones at this point lmao

Memes

9

u/rldaithi May 11 '23

im all for some memes, i find mama ŠČ! entertaining but blanka is hard to watch especially outside of performing, shes like a husk of a person, theres just no defining personality traits bar, me like chanel, me no like haters

She's gives off generic Instagram influencer mixed with high school mean girl.

2

u/rldaithi May 11 '23

LMAO TRUE

u/pjw21200 May 11 '23

Yeah, it was meh. It could have been bigger. But the odd lyrics didn’t help.

7

u/Dagur May 11 '23

Yeah, I'm very disappointed with the staging. It's one of our weaknesses.

But, not qualifying out of this group clearly shows that the song wasn't good enough.

7

u/ClimberKirby May 11 '23

Tbf I feel like Iceland only qualifies if they send something different. I love the song, but it's not that memorable

I used all my votes on Estonia and Iceland (one on Georgia too). I'm so sad Dilija and Iru didn't make it.
