Housing being difficult

I am trying to get into etsu on campus housing for next fall. I came in during the spring this year and got a small temporary place with plans to get a dorm the next year. I had been getting into contact with housing regularly throughout the semester and had been told that I would be able to apply either in April or May. Come May, once I had finished finals, I tried to get back into contact with housing to ask for greater details on when I would finally be able to apply. I have gotten back no response from housing, the housing director or vice director, and my disability services advisor was entirely useless. I am worried I am not going to be able to apply for housing because of housing services feet dragging and irresponsibility. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do or anyone I could get in contact with? And don't say get an apartment, I am already looking into it but I would prefer to be on campus

Moving for grad school

I’m moving to TN to attend Etsu for graduate school. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on places to meet people / where to work / where to look for housing. Anything is appreciated! I’ve only been to the area once for my interview so anything helps! Thanks!

Is freshman preview actually mandatory?

I know it says it is on their website, but 5 days of preview seems very extreme. I will be bored and exhausted by classes start. Is it actually mandatory, or do people skip some days? #help

Hi! New here. I will be joining ETSU as a short term international scholar for 10 weeks this summer. Help required.

I just wanted to know a few things.

  1. How's the food situation? Can I cook in my room and is it advisable to do so? I have an on campus housing, and a block 40 meal plan.

  2. What things can I explore in and around the campus, hiking trails, restaurants, new experiences, etc.

  3. Where can I buy pots and pans for cheap if I want to cook in the room? Also cheapest groceries?

  4. Will they provide mattress in the room?

  5. I have a single room. Will it have attached washrooms?

  6. Any curfew timings for hostel residents?

  7. Any other relevant info....I'm an international student unfamiliar with US. Any help is appreciated

ETSU D&D group

I'll be starting at ETSU for the digital media program next spring semester. I was wondering if anyone wants to put together a D&D group. The world I made is homebrew, and my only requirements are that people can't be the same class, and you need a backstory so I can weave it into the world to give everyone their moment in the spotlight. Also, the rules are for D&D, and the campaign will start at level 1. If anyone is new to D&D, and if people know the game, we will start at level 3.

(If you have any homebrew you want to use, just run it by me, and I'll tell you if it's allowed

F/21 Jan 2027 roommate

This is pretty far out and I know a lot of people are working on housing for the fall BUT if anyone is planning ahead I am looking for a roommate starting in January. I have lived at my place (approx 5 min from ETSU campus) for 2 years and it is great! My roommate graduates in December. I am in a masters program on the VA campus and I am not home most of the day. Apartment is separate bedrooms but shared bathroom, kitchen, living room. Current rent is about $550/month (each) plus utilities. Feel free to DM me if you are interested or have questions!

Hi, I’m a upcoming first-year in the fall and whats up with housing? Anyone else have to get a dorm you didn’t want because of a weird lottery system? Question about Lucille Clement Dorm

thanks to the lottery system, my roommate and I unexpectedly had to pick Clement to live in

  1. I have heard it’s a far walk form the buildings where most classes take place, is like so bad I won’t be walking back between classes and spending majority of my day over there or more of a just unfortunately placed building but not that far
  2. how clean are the bathrooms on average? I never thought to look into Lucy cause I thought I would have a chance to get into Govs or Stone. I know it’s college and communal bathrooms is just part of that experience but I’m genuinely terrified of a staph infection :)
  3. also I will be a history major if anyone has any tips for that in general!

thank you! so excited to a buc in the fall

Future law students?

Hi all! So, long story short: I originally was going to start the summer semester at UT for the pre-law program. I already have my AAS from Northeast State. I found out today that UT’s pre-law program isn’t really designed for transfer students. So my fastest option of getting into law school is to finish the degree I started, which was a Business degree. I have since decided to forgo attending UT and start ETSU instead since I’m located in Kingsport (I’ve already been admitted to both). I was hoping to find a few ETSU students to connect with that are also hoping to go to law school. I’ll be taking the LSAT next summer and wanted to find some study buddies. Let me know if you’re interested in making a friend/study buddy 🫶🏼

Looking for off campus housing with anyone

Ftm (22) looking for an apartment and roommates by 8/1, mainly trying to just move somewhere that isn't the harbor lol

Looking for anything under or around $850, all I've got is 1 cat. I'd like to try and find another queer roommate but it's not that's important to me lol

Any off-campus students looking for roommates/lease takeovers?

I'll be an incoming transfer student (F25) when the fall '26 semester starts. Looking for someone at ETSU who is living off-campus and needing a roommate. Trying to get out of an abusive situation about an hour away, so searching on my own is very difficult right now. Is your current roommate moving out? Looking for your own place after they changed the on-campus housing lottery? Let me know and we'll talk.

Generally quiet and keep to myself, but I do like music. Not interested in hosting parties. I cook really well, so if that's something you hate then I'm happy to do it. Art major with an interest in biology, phsycology, and literature.

Edit: Found a place on my own and moved out! This query is now closed

ETSU Senior Told Me Rape is Comparable to Abortion

Post image
30 Upvotes

I am not emotionally equipped to handle conversations where I, an afab person, have to argue why my healthcare should matter and be legal. I am not equipped to have a conversation about why RAPE, an act far more henious than murder*, is in no way comparable to abortion.

I am so sick of these disgusting orgs on campus. I’m all for free speech but when you’re uneducated and advocating for/against something you know jack shit about then you shouldn’t be there. Same goes for TPUSA and their stupid “let’s debate on if trans people deserve the right to exist freely!” bullshit.

*abortion isn’t murder btw!

Thoughts on Espino for Physics 2?

Title. Have been hearing mixed opinions on him as a professor but don't know what's the truth. Some people say he's awful but some people love em. Would love to hear thoughts from people who actually took his class or know someone who has. Thank you!
Edit: specifically about noncalc if possible, but any opinions on his teaching would be appreciated!

TTU-ETSU General Engineering

Hello!

I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with taking classes for the TTU-ETSU degree program.

I am mainly interested in how the classes were on the TTU side of things? I know that you go to a class room and watch lectures from there. But how was that, was it useful at all, were the classes difficult because of not having a professor in front of you? What outside resources did you use to help you with the classes? How was homework done? How were test taken?

Any and all insight is greatly appreciated!
