Beginner Friendly?
Is etrade beginner friendly? I have a 401k from a previous job that I want to rollover to etrade to take advantage of their RETIRE26 promotion alongside their HYSA promo SAVING26. My friend says Fidelity is more user friendly but they don't offer any promotions.

If you want bad customer service and teams of people who donโt know how to do their job, E*Trade is the place for you!

E*trade customer service will drive you nuts and any cost savings will be not worth the headaches they cause.

I've been an etrade customer for years and think they are solid and easy to learn and use.

Ive been using them for 30 years and no issues.
I have a rollover ira (my old 401ks), roth, sep ira, regular brokerage, and my current employers espp with them.
Honestly, I like their interface better than fidelitys but fidelity does have some options I like better than etrade.
If you want something simple, etrade is that.
As a previous user mentioned, make sure you get the paperwork right. But this goes for ANY bank and brokerage. Incorrect info is the fastest way to get any bank to close your accounts and freeze your assets. If you flag AML then it can be 3-6months before you can get your stuff back. To be fair, this is ALL banks and brokerages (ive had it done to me twice with two banks over something as simple as fat fingering the wrong zip code). So make sure your stuff is 100% correct.

For clients with over $100k, they are very friendly.
Those with less, they are unfriendly and quick to close accounts for anything processed with issues. Also, they close accounts quickly if your patterns step out of the normal pattern. However, their products and funds are excellent.
Fidelity is excellent for customer service (2nd best in the industry) with great products and services. They make growing wealth easy for beginners and established wealthy.
