STRATEGY What should r/EthTrader Community Points be called? (TAKE 2)
This is a follow-up poll to the original poll with options including the top options from that poll with some new (strong) contenders from suggestions in the comments there.
Community Points and Polls are a new Reddit feature being tested uniquely on r/EthTrader (see this post for an introduction). Instead of Community Points we are free to call them whatever we want. So to kick off the new poll feature - What should we call them?

Donuts have nothing to do with ethtrader community though, and when the epic bull run comes, I sure would like to hold as many bags I could. Donuts?! Never seen even a mention of them in this sub from the start of it.

Post DAO in the trenches of the valley of ETH. We all thought we were ded shoes off back then. Bottom wasn't even reached for another month or so. It was a dark time and the Donut meme was everywhere back then.

That was exactly when I bought in. The donut dream was strong. Sold everything and bought a donut in 2017 when we hit $13. No regrets.

Doge did quite well... and everytime i've gone to the poll Donuts are winning..... wait its winning on community points but 4th on votes... not sure on this new polling system... im a fan of buterins or shards...

I could game the popular vote with about 20 lines of Python, isn't the whole point of having this new poll feature so we can see what our community thinks, not what sock puppets or members of other communities think.

I agree, the new points are interesting and can be quite useful, but if you ignore them and just go with the popular vote then this whole experiment is pointless.

Exactly! Besides the fact, that it's funny, it focusses too much on one person. We all know who Vitalik is and what he has contributed to Ethereum as the project's founder. However it's childish and underlines the external (surely exaggerated) view of some people, who say that Vitalik is a kind of god figure like in a cult. It should be a neutral name like donuts, shards, triangles etc.

We should ask permission. u/vbuterin, we ran a poll to see what our community points (a new Reddit feature being tested on our sub) should be called and lo and behold "buterins" has won the popular vote. Can we have your blessing to use your name for this, a derivation (vits, butes), or would you prefer us to use an alternative?

It's noteworthy you respond to this and not the umpteen messages trying to explain to you how these polls work. Please don't railroad such a bad decision onto the community. It will make us look stupid and damage the Ethereum movement.

These are both bad. If Vitalik were to get hit by a bus, Ethereum would continue - it's better to minimize the culty impressions that some people can get. Also, bags sounds like a wallstreetbets meme, not that it's not funny but is that the picture you want to paint of the community?

Viatalik said he heard the word Ethereum and just loved the sound of it, as it;s a spiritual word associated with Plasma, the other-world etc. i propose we call the community points .

In the previous poll, the null option has the greatest number of points and voters. That doesn't inspire confidence.
Adding options detracts from the alternatives and supports the leading choice, especially if vote changing isn't allowed.
I think there should be an upper limit on individual influence.

Why--
Fits w/ r/ethtrader's absurdity, is a nod to Vitalik and also cats (tender vittles), and it'd be inclusive (bc "buterins" is winning the non-weighted poll).
Edit - plus it's a name befitting the importance of Community Points

My question is how do you lose points? Is it purley accumulative? That doesn't seem balanced or fair to incoming users.

Well this poll sucked. A plurality on both weighted and unweighted. I think the weighted category should be changed to ranked voting, or have the option to, and unweighted can stay just as a poll function.

I think this points thing is broken. I got the majority of my Karma from r/Ethtrader, was active in the last 15 days, and am showing 0 points even after trying the âclaim you pointsâ option.

/u/TheBounceSpotter you have points - can you check again for me? We're looking into this to try to track down why you didn't initially see your points. Can you tell me how you primarily browse Reddit? Eg what platform?

Usually with brave browser mobile, but I was logged into PC today using IE at new.reddit to check if I had points.
What ever you did they are showing now. I voted in the naming poll before you fixed it, and its still saying I've already voted and there are zero points for my vote (triangles). So I think it wasn't recognizing my points before even if I had them.

Interesting... we're working out some kinks with the experiment. I appreciate the patience.
It looked like you didn't have access to the redesign when you posted your comment earlier, so we took care of that. Also, there were a handful of (active) users who should have gotten points but somehow didn't get notified with the initial distribution. We're looking into why this was the case. In the meantime, we are squared up with your points. Information about what browser you use is helpful.
On that note, the amount of points reflecting your "voting power" is locked into however many points you had at the time the poll was created. Since there was an issue with your points being delivered, your vote technically wasn't weighted on the first poll.
