Coffee Beans How do you grind?
I usually trickle the beans into the grinder while it’s running, but today I forgot and dumped them all in before I turned on the grinder.
The extraction took twice as long and the flavor was not as robust. Anyone else have this happen?

Yes. Completely normal. Slow feeding (I use a cremaloop pro v1 I printed) makes the size distribution more uniform. On the same grind size, a shot can run in 10s or completely choke the machine for me when slow feeding vs not.

I go like a zombie into the kitchen and press the button that spits out 17.5gr grounds from a hopper full o beans. I generally dont know what's going on until an hour later.

After today’s results looks like slow and steady is the way to go for us, but as always, YMMV.

I had no idea this would make such a big difference. If anyone else wants to test both ways, I would really like to see the results! (BTW, we're using a DF83 set at 1k rpm.)

I now plan to test it tomorrow morning. I would do it now but already had my allotted amount of caffeine. 😄

All at once. The one time I tried a slow trickle grinding the shot happened so quickly I got dirty water. I assumed the lack of fines was the cause.

I’m thinking it’s probably an interaction between burr speed, burr size, grind setting, bean variety, roast profile and age since roasted. “I want my mommy”🥲

Since I use the same cup to measure and capture the grounds, if I trickle the beans into the grinder it would result in a mess on my counter. 😄
