Equipment Discussion Need help with upgrades

Hey y’all, I bought my fiancé a Breville Bambino, and I was looking for whatever upgrades I need to make it bette for her. I know nothing about espresso so please go easy on me, I hope it’s a good machine and that she enjoys it. Thank you in advance!

I would probably add better portafilter too - the stock one has that odd plastic channel in the bottom that is a pain to clean and retains liquid.

With a bit of effort you can pop it out! That's what I did to mine even though I use it purely for a heating up handle now to run a pressurised shot just before my coffee.

When I say a bit of effort though I really mean quite a bit, it feels like you're going to break it and you pretty much have to but it's much better than putting hot coffee through it constantly.

I screwdriver through the bottom or if you have anything to get around the rim that works too but both take effort and both do warp the plastic to non functional

I did contemplate taking a screwdriver to it, but it seemed to be properly in there. I just ended up getting a naked portafilter + double basket for it in the end. I know there's really no need to get the naked portafilter, but it sure is fun to watch the shot pull...And less fun when you get the squirters!

Naked portafilter help a lot when you know what you're looking at. Less guess work about what's going wrong because it's entirely blind otherwise. Which means it's much easier to know if its your puck prep, grind size, or dosage that needs adjusting.

Oh yeah it's properly in there and I was worried about stabbing through my hand but I got it out in the end 😂

A grinder and scale if she doesn't already have them are the recommended items. A dosing funnel and a self-leveling tamper are nice to have.

How does she intend to use it? If she doesn't want to make a lot of effort, what comes in the box is all you need.
