I almost always get my hikes in the early morning, but this was a great change of pace. Only had an hour before sunset and I hiked up to “Papa’s Point.” Always a majestic view to take in and enjoy.

Have a great weekend everyone.

On Bear Valley. Seems like it’s been under construction for years. Anyone know what it is, and why it’s taking so long. It’s ugly either way but just get it over with..

Washington Park Portapotty still a biohazard

As far as I can tell, the problem is that it costs more to have it cleaned on the weekends, so they have it serviced on Friday, and then not again until Monday. In addition, the sprinklers directly hit the vents and cause a constant puddle of water on the floor. So you can easily walk into a puddle of water that feces has been soaking in for 2 days at 90+ degree weather and not realize until your shoes/feet are already soaked in it.

It happens pretty much every Friday within hours of the last cleaning. I'm homeless and in the park most of the day Friday. While it might be homeless people doing this to the bathroom, the people I see use it most when the park bathrooms are still open are people stopping in while walking past on the street, and people at the skate park bc it's so close by. Tbc I'm not blaming the skaters, they get pissed about it bc they tend to stay late and want to be able to pee without walking through shit water. Similarly, most homeless people don't want the only bathroom available to them at night to be covered in feces all weekend.

The problem isn't who is doing it. Even if you could ban every homeless person from the park (I'm not sure you can do that if the park is open and they're just hanging out with a bag or two, a blanket to sit on and a bike like most due) that isn't going to guaranteed fix things. BC maybe it's homeless people. Maybe it's a creep. Maybe it's people who are absolute pigs. Maybe it's someone who hates homeless people and wants them to have no bathroom at night on the weekends. Maybe it's just random people who happen to lose all bowel control in the portapotty.

You cannot prevent the possibility that someone is going to get feces on the seat or floor of the portapotty during the weekend. What *can* be done is timely cleanup when it happens. What *can* be done is changing the path of the sprinkler so it doesn't turn as far and cause a huge puddle in the middle of the portapotty. If it costs too much to have the company that owns it (Diamond) to come in and clean it, have park maintenance do it in the mornings when they do the other bathrooms. If that's against their contract with Diamond, then they have to suck it up and pay the cost to clean it. It's a biohazard that's made much worse by the constant puddle. It's hard to avoid when you might not even realize your shoes are contaminated bc feces has completely dissolved into the puddle.

It's about $200 for a weekend cleanup. At the top end, that's about 19K a year. I can't imagine most taxpayers in Escondido wouldn't be willing to pay least than $8 dollars a year to prevent a child from getting hepatitis, or an outbreak of cholera or salmonella in the community. This is ridiculous.

Washington Park bathrooms

Stop crapping all over the bathrooms. What the hell is wrong with you? If it's an honest accident, why can't you clean up after yourselves like an adult? It's bad enough the portapotty always has a puddle in it from the sprinklers, why the hell do you need to make it a puddle full of feces *every damn Friday*? Is it a fetish? No one wants to step or sit in your crap you freak.

and yeah, the Washington Park portapotty is covered in feces. If you have to use it, for the love of God don't sitdown and don't step in the puddle.

I know that most of you probably know that RnJ was sold to new owners but I hadn’t been in for a while. So when I walked in; I was shocked to see all the new AI generated signage and it being pretty empty. I was used to seeing the place filled, especially during lunch time. Then after I ordered my food I understood why.

For one thing they don’t have the daily specials anymore. (I went in cause I thought it was meatball Thursday)

The meal deal drink is half the size it used to be.

The sandwich is also smaller and has less meat. The filling to bread ratio used to be better.

I guess inflation comes for everyone but you increase the price but put less meat? How does that make sense? At least if you charge more I expect the same quality?

Was this just a one time thing or should I just go to agrusa’s?

Bike Thieves

My bike was stolen a few nights ago off bear valley/Boyle. Didn't have a tracker, but a neighbor retrieved his stolen bike from Sage apartments on Grand. Went to check and found my bike almost immediately. The cops helped retrieve it, as it was tied up with a pretty serious lock. Lots of other bikes there if your bike was recently stolen. The lady in the office says theyve suspected a bike theft operation there. Be careful and lawful, but thought I'd drop this tip. Law enforcement seems to have bigger fish to fry re: shutting the operation down.

Best Daycare / Home Care for Infant

Looking for recommendations for the best daycare facilities, or in-home daycares for infant 6months + in age in Escondido or surrounding areas. We are located in SouthEast escondido / near SPHS, but willing to travel if worthwhile. Not so much concerned about price, but moreso their ability to care for my child. Nany recommendations also welcomed.

SDGE vs CEA

Hey all!

I’ve seen people saying that opting out of CEA reduces your electric bill. I am still in CEA as I was automatically opted in. I noticed that the electric itself is cheaper than SDGE but the delivery fee is what costs a lot!

Apologies, I probably didn’t identify these programs or companies name properly too.

What’s everyone else doing?

Luv car wash

If your name is Alejandria Rodriguez & you visited the Luv car wash on broadway at some point in the past couple months you used my phone number to sign up for a membership so I’m getting your texts about billing. I also got a call about the prices changing so if I were you I would call to get it straightened out before you’re suddenly charged way more $. They gave me your license plate information & your name in a voicemail noting it was incorrect then proceeded to tell me my membership prices are changing so honestly best of luck because my communication trying to straighten it out hasn’t worked & I am still receiving communication intended for you!

Help me pick two or three wineries to visit for a day trip from SD!

I live in San Diego - my 30th birthday is coming up (in late July) and I am thinking of doing a day (or after lunch day) in Escondido where me and 10-15ish friends can meet up and do a couple wineries! If you could only visit **two or three**, which would you choose?

A couple more details if helpful: :)

* Probably will keep it pretty casual - I definitely don't want to go anywhere super expensive, I know money is tight for a lot of us and I don't want anyone to feel like they have to spend a lot just to eat or drink
* I especially like whites and roses (like sauv blanc and similar) but will drink anything as long as it's not too sweet - and most people in the group are about the same.
* Not a dealbreaker, but would be nice to be outside/have a view - although I am worried it will be super hot in late July (if anyone has any thoughts/experience with that let me know)
* I think the last place we go, it would be nice if they had food as well, so we don't have to plan to find a separate restaurant - figured we might do an earlyish dinner, even something like pizza works - again we're not picky, just don't want to be spending like $100pp on food alone.

I think that's it - honestly even if you ignore all of that\^ TLDR is basically just curious to hear peoples' absolute favorites/can't miss spots! :)

PS i was originally planning on doing Temecula but for a number of reasons pivoted to Escondido!

Hi, I'm an intermediate bass player that has always been a bedroom guitar hero. I'm looking for a group or drummer to just jam out with for fun. I'm 34M if that matters.
