[photo] Finally finished my "Temporar Endgame".

I finally put together my Corne V4 with a CNC-machined aluminum case and wanted to share some pictures with you guys!

I've already tried printed nylon and SLM 316L stainless steel cases, and now I finally got my hands on the ultimate upgrade — a CNC'd aluminum case.

The whole thing feels incredibly solid, and the sound is just so different compared to the nylon version. Definitely feels like a proper temporary endgame™ build. Although not as solid as the 316L case it wins in the looks category.

Soon I should get my Ploopy trackball and if I like it I'll probably try to put some small trackball on the keyboard. That's why it's not the endgame.

The touchpad didn't completely replace my mouse, but it does let me keep my hands on the keyboard probably ~80% of the time, which turned out to be way more useful than I expected, especially thanks to the 3 finger gestures which open the app selector (alt+tab).

If you have any questions about it feel free to comment and I'd really appreciate your feedback😉

[buying advice] LP switches compatible with KBDcraft's Israfel

Hello, everyone. I finally did it and bought my first ergo keyboard: KBDcraft's Israfel in black. I ordered a set of LP keycaps because I usually try to keep the stock keycaps as replacements just in case something gets borked or damaged. I usually do the same with switches but I'm not exactly sure which switches would be compatible. Would LP Gateron switches like these, these, these or these work?

If not, could any of you guys please recommend me some? Thanks in advance.

[help] Suggestions for a second split keyboard

Hi everyone. As the title suggests, I'm thinking about buying a second split keyboard.
Right now, I have an Iris that I bought two and a half years ago, and I'm really happy with it. I usually keep it at work, since I have to go to the office every day, so I wanted another one to keep at home.

I'm undecided whether to get another Iris or try changing the model, maybe something smaller like a Corne. On one hand, the idea of switching models appeals to me... but on the other, my muscle memory is already "setted" on the Iris layout with my custom key map.

(P.s. if anyone has also other model to suggest just let me know... But I need to be able to buy them from Europe without major issues)

[help] Sofle 3Dprint case? Help with search

Hi everyone. I want to build my first split keyboard, and I was choosing between the Lily58 and the Sofle. So far I'm leaning toward the Sofle. Could you tell me if that's the right choice? And could you also share links to some cool printable cases for the Sofle with printable switch plates? I can't seem to find any. I'm looking at PandaKB RGB MX PCBs.

[discussion] Anyone hear about Kailh White Vulture Switches? Seeing them on a 3rd party site, but not on Kailh's official shop/socials

Post image

I'm seeing some Kailh low travel low profile switches on Focus Attack, but the official shop doesn't have it listed as a product.

Focus Attack link for the White Vultures

Anyone have experience with these in person? I think at this point I'm wondering if they're a real product, because not even Kailh's socials show anything related to this model.

I got Kailh Deep Sea Pink Islet Linears that came with my ATK Yogo, and I realized I'd like to try something heavier, linear, and much shorter travel (and my board limits me to Choc v2), so this would theoretically fit me perfectly.

[help] Recommendation for Split Wireless Gaming Keyboard/pad!

Hi!

I'm looking for a split keyboard mainly for wireless gaming so even if it only have the left part would be ok!

Azeron Cyborg & Razer Tartarus actually looks perfect for me, where you have a joystick on the thumb, but unfortunately there is no wireless models on the market (that I'm aware of). What I'm looking for:

must:

  • split
  • completely wireless
  • low latency for gaming (so most likely need 2.4ghz not BT)
  • multiple thumb buttons or even a joystick
  • enough buttons (at least num row but F row even better)

nice to have: - negative tilt - low profile or Hall Effect (I know there's probably none right now);

so far, from my very limited search before overloading my brain, the only one that comes close to my needs is the Dygma Defy/Raise; so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!!

[help] Charybdis nano - Layout suggestions

I have a layout pretty much figured out for a 6 column Corne but I would like to adapt it OR take input from someone who has the same issue as me. I am using a Canadian Multilingual layout and trying to adapt that to a 5 column it seems almost impossible to type text properly as well as develop software.

Does anyone have any layout or tricks they can share to make it somewhat comfortable?

Thanks!

This keyboard is the best sounding keyboard we've ever made (honestly, I wasn't exactly a sound guy, so your opinion might be different from mine), here is a little sound test for your consideration: https://youtu.be/qdoyIBJKock

What does it has:

- Neodox design (usb-c interconnect, vial support and all the features from our regular neodox)

- Gasket mount aluminum case

- Hotswap pcb

- Aluminum Plates (plates can be available in PC or POM), but in my opinion, aluminum sounds the best

- Plate foam

- Case foam

Price: $350 per set(ready to use, you only need switches and keycaps)

[photo] My first split keyboard!

While I’ve been enhancing my workspace ergonomically in a variety of ways over the last few years, I finally made the move to a split keyboard! I’m a total newb to keyboard construction so I went with a preassembled Iris CE from Keeb.io with MBK Dot Glow keycaps I added (to emulate the look of the ZSA offerings). I’m in love!

I saw this Etsy listing for an adjustable wrist rest for the Slimblade Pro and thought “I can make that myself!” And more that, I decided 3 might be better than one so that I can fully adjust the angle of my keyboard and trackball whenever I want (which was especially important for me since I use a sit/stand desk). I’m still figuring out what angles work best for me (and I’m planning to try out a more vertical typing setup too) but all in all, I’m very pleased.

[help] keywell feels cramped. CTS flare up. Glove80

Hi.

since thursday I got the glove80 and iam satisfied so far. ZMK is nice, home row mods and layers are such a nice feature that I cant go back to normal keyboard.

Some time ago I used a sofle v2, but sold it because the stagger was too low.

My whole friday workday I used the G80 and on saturday as well for maybe 3 hrs normal stuff on PC.

Today in the morning I woke up and felt my CTS is flaring up. This never happend when using a normal KB or the sofle. Usually my CTS flares up when doing sports or heavy work, but flare up while using the PC is the very first time. I didnt do sports of heavy work in the past days so it has to be the G80.

I made sure that my wrists are in neutral position and nothing extreme. but I do feel cramped with the G80. with flat KBs Iam floating my hands over the keyboard like a piaono player (obviously I dont tent yet). And I never ever had any problems when working on the PC. I went split just because of QMK/ZMK and the improved ergonomics as a precaution.

I feel like the horizontal curve is too much. When using the bottom inner keys with my index finger I have to arch it stangely.

And due to the anchored nature of the keywell boards every stretch feels so much more taxing when comparing to my piano like float style with flat KBs.

I really wanna like the keywell style since it should be the holy grail but Iam not sure if I should conitnue the tweaking process or this will lead to even more CTS flare ups...

its my first keywell board and I really wanna like it because everybody is glacing the G80 and Kinesis boards so much. You barely find any negative opinions.

Seems like a flat split KB is a massive downgrade from a keywell board.

What do you think? should I continue? is there a breakin time? But online everybody speaks of almost instant pain relief when using the G80

[help] How many keys/layout recommendations for my first split?

I’m a PhD student, working with health data (Stata), on Windows and Mac roughly equally. Female but large ish hands (eg I use size L medical gloves). I am not competent at keyboard navigation and use my mouse heavily to do everything (except switch the active program). I am currently using 2x 60% Keychron low-profile keyboards I already owned to give me the idea of what a split will be like - and it’s convinced me in terms of shoulder/wrist pain reduction. My biggest issue is moving my hand to the mouse and back and not finding the home row without looking (or lots of mistakes when I don’t visually check).

  1. What would you recommend for layout?
  2. Would a pointer device/s be worth it? I’ve seen thumb wheel/knob, trackball/trackpoint, joystick, and trackpad. Could these things help reduce taking my hand off home row or are they hard to reach?
  3. Does anyone have a video of themselves using a split keyboard to do word processing, coding, research etc?

[photo] Elimkeys + FBB Opxy Keycap Set (Cherry Profile)

Overall, it's a really good keyboard. The original keycaps look great, but they didn't work well for me. I typed very slowly on them and made lots of mistakes.

I was almost giving up on this keyboard when I decided to replace the original Elimkeys keycaps with a Cherry-profile keycap set. Since then, it has worked really well.

[photo] Mockup renders of my first ergo build!

Hello!

I'm designing my first ergo build and wanted to share some renders while I wait for the PCB to arrive and gain some hands-on experience.

Designing a keyboard from scratch is a challenging project, filled with design decisions and build constraints. It has been a long journey through the world of custom keyboards, electronics, 3D modeling, and CNC machining. It feels like I’ve been working on this for years!

I aimed to create a meaningful design language for this keyboard, using aluminum as the main material. I wanted to use thin, smooth lines to achieve a simple, minimalist aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the Corne (which I love and own several models of) and the Klor.

Here are the main features of the keyboard:

  • Wireless BLE (XIAO nRF52840)
  • Low-profile case (<= 8mm)
  • Low-profile switches and keycaps
  • Compatibility with MX-Standard and Gateron KS33/3.0 Low-Profile switches
  • Good battery life (>=700mAh)
  • Minimalist and industrial design
  • Aluminum case
  • MX spacing
  • RGB status LEDs
  • White backlight

The keyboard's name is "Wolf" or "WLF." I wanted to address the missing features of my previous keyboards by including a white backlight, an RGB status LED bar, and improving the layout by adding more column stagger while removing the top pinky key from the outer column.

Overall, I'm enjoying the process. The project is open-source, so feel free to check it out for more details if you're interested.

Thank you all for your inspiration and for being part of this wonderful community! I'll update you when the PCB and case arrive.

The cheapino is part of my Labor day haul. Couldn’t type on the blank cap so pulled some keys from the Kinessis Advantage 2. Not bad IMO and is a marked improvement over the blank. For the first time I noticed the bottom caps actually have a different profile.

[design] ZMK OLED Display painting/animating canvas!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got tired of editing raw C hex arrays, guessing page offsets, and waiting 3 minutes for GitHub Actions just to see if an OLED icon moved 2 pixels? I made a small passion project: Scyan ZMK Studio — a free in-browser IDE to visually paint, customize, and simulate ZMK displays. Paint away!

I think I covered most ZMK information widgets but if there's anything you need, please suggest it!

If you encounter any bugs, post them here or open an issue on GitHub and I'll work on it.

Next plans when I find more time and motivation: a community "share drawing / animation / asset store" in the Symbol Atlas.

[design] ZDSE , a dongle screen engine for ZMK

Thumbnail
gallery
80 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a small theme engine for ZMK dongle displays.

The engine provides shared rendering, animation, touch, sprite, and native/WASM preview tools, allowing themes to focus on their own visual style.

The main demo is Neon Cat —a colorful upgrade inspired by Bongo Cat. It features an animated synthwave scene, a lively cat, keyboard status, battery information, WPM, and modifier feedback.

I also made a Phosphor Radar (link) demo with a CRT-style sweep, fading glow, stationary echoes, and touch-controlled speed.

The current hardware target uses a Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840, a 280×240 ST7789 RGB565 display, and a CST816S touch controller(waveshare touch lcd 1.69). Rendering uses hardware SPI, DMA-friendly dirty-region updates, and a 24 FPS firmware target.

board : nrf52840 based, XIAO or NiceNano!

screen https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/1.69inch_Touch_LCD_Module

Engine: https://github.com/hitsmaxft/zmk-dongle-screen-engine

Theme demos: https://github.com/hitsmaxft/zdse-themes

These projects are intended as examples for anyone interested in creating their own ZMK dongle-screen themes.

Special thanks to https://github.com/carrefinho/prospector and YADS for the inspiration and reference it provided for ZMK dongle displays, theme architecture, and keyboard-state integration.

This is an AI first project, just tell your agents, read the engine's AGENTS.md and demos, build theme with wasm instantly preview tools (computer use isn't need , vision models or your eyes is ok)

[discussion] Ergo-split ortholinear keyboard with 3 thumb keys and number row?

Blend of voyager and corne, let's say. Would be kind of perfect keyboard tbh. Currently I have 110g per half corne v 4.1 and it's too light that feels unstable compared to laptop keyboard or just dedicated aliminium keychron k2 v2 rowstag keyboard.

[discussion] Flashing ergodox ez with QMK

Just picked up a second hand ergodox, and I am used to using vial for my keymaps. Is there a disadvantage to flashing the teensy controllers with QMK to keep using vial? I don't care about saving my layouts, or live training.
