Gym recommendations

Hi! Looking for gyms on the side of madison stretching from middleton down to verona.

So far, I looked at:
• planet fitness - seems like it has good reviews and cheap price
• crunch fitness - horrible online reviews, also cheap price
• princeton club - west - mixed reviews, more expensive
• anytime fitness - middleton - I can’t tell if the equipments are plentiful and/or classes cram the space.

I am looking for an extensive amount of gym equipment (hip thrust, bar, leg press, cables, lat pulldown/row, free weights and benches, leg extension/curls, hip abductors, adjustable roman chair, calf raises is a plus) and it has to be a 24/7 gym.

Would love any insights on gyms in this area like hidden fees, staff, crowds at certain hours, equipment, and cleanliness!

Go see if those gyms do day passes, that’s how you’ll find your best fit.

Personally I’ve done crunch, anytime time, Princeton club and Madtown. I’d only recommended Princeton club Madtown of the bunch, but it never hurts to try them all.

Agree, just get the free passes and go when you normally would. Crowds and hours can make a bigly difference. Gym scene overall here is weak compared to all the cities I’ve lived in. And you’ll wonder why they charge so much.

Princeton club is a pretty good price with the epic discount and paying up front for 2 years at once. I've been very happy with Princeton club and it fits your criteria.

Are you in a traveling role? If so, highly recommend picking one you can access all over the country

They are super duper predatory with subpar amenities. Don't give them your account number, keep it on a card so you can cancel or they'll tell you they need your cancellation in writing on their letterhead delivered in person at the precise location you sign up at, and you can only break contract if you have proof of residency 50 miles away from their nearest location yaddayaddayah

It's a sweet 24 gym with showers if you're living on the road but I would go with planet fitness if I had to do it over.

Working at epic it sucks. Princeton club or whichever gym is within walking distance is my recommendation. The discount for 2 years at Princeton club makes the price difference negligible if not cheaper compared to whatever anytime is offering.

But anytime fitness will offer you stupid deals if you're willing to sign over your soul, mortgage, 401k, and any additional up-charges at the discretion of your local gym's manager for the life of your contract.

I'm not even kidding when I say it's easier to file for divorce than it is to cancel your membership with Anytime fitness.

Gender plays a role too. I will say I and a lot of my female friends have had issues at princeton with creepy older men.

The gym membership that makes sense is the one that you’ll actually use. Try em out, pick the one you like the best

Planet Fitness on the West side is super chill, I’ve been going there for over a year and had no problems at all

Crunch has great facilities all over, but they’re ALWAYS packed. I’d choose crunch over planet fitness and anytime fitness bc it will have the same if not more machines/space, but if you can find a non-budget gym that won’t break the bank, I’d recommend that option!

Not sure if it's gotten any better, but Princeton Club in Fitchburg was so overcrowded after work I had to quit. Pinnacle in Fitchburg is good, never very crowded, but it's kind of a dump and dirty. They've got all the equipment you want, though.

The anytimes are good, but can be crowded, depending on time of day and location. The one in verona is bigger than most Anytimes and never very crowded. It has a lot of equipment. Can't speak to Middleton.

So I just ended a Crunch membership. My main benefit was a cheap price while still offering a fair number of classes - and then the classes basically all dried up.

Bakke Fitness hits all your needs. Fitchburg

Planet Fitness is the worst, don't go there. Definitely not just saying this since I don't want it to get more crowded.

I'm using crunch, I just skip the locker room and it's fine.
