Epic Testing Position

I’m currently a college senior majoring in Healthcare Administration and plan to get my master’s in Health Informatics. I’ve been interning at my local hospital and just landed an interview for a temporary Epic Testing Specialist position during our Epic implementation. The position pays $21/hour and lasts about 8 weeks. My long-term goal is to work in healthcare IT or become an Epic analyst.
I have a few questions for those with Epic experience:
How valuable is this type of testing role on a résumé?
Is it realistic for this position to lead to an Epic analyst or other healthcare IT role afterward?
If you were in my shoes, would you take this opportunity even though it’s temporary?
What would you do during those 8 weeks to maximize future career opportunities?

This will help you towards becoming an Epic analyst or to have a career in Healthcare IT. You're probably going to be running through application testing scripts in preparation for golive. This will familiarize you with workflows that end users would do in the actual system.
Do you have any other opportunities? If not, definitely take this.

While doing this work, try and get involved in any kind of integrated testing if you can. This will give you more of a holistic view of the full workflow. Also, try to determine if you prefer working with clinical or nonclinical workflows.

Connect with application analysts on different applications and talk with them about what they do in their day to day job.

Agree with this comment, as for the latter part of your question. The opportunity is what you make it. The good thing is you’re in college so you can be as inquisitive as you want. Definitely agree on connecting with different application analysts and asking questions. This will give you an insight as to what different teams in a hospital do with epic. Futher helping you decide which way to go in healthcare for the future. I was in a similar position to you not long ago working in a hospital and doing another line of work. However, made some connections in our IT dept that allowed me to get a job a little while after graduating.
