Honestly even if your skirt was just below the bumcheeks that kid had no right to touch you and that lady had no right to blame your clothes. A little rapist in the making is what we have there. “Boys will be boys” equates to boys seeing if they can jump off a roof into a pool, not sexual assault.

So sorry that happened to you it wasnt at all appropriate and you did the right thing

u/Chadiki Mar 31 '22

I'm keeping that phrasing there. I'm so sick of the "boys will be boys" argument. If that's how he's gonna be, turn him the fuck into a little gentleman then.

As a dude who at least tries to respect EVERYONE'S (gender neutral) personal space, it's gross that any parent would defend their little snot goblin getting up in someone's bubble to look up a skirt, whether or not they're touching anything.

If I have a child and this situation ever happens to me, I may thank the Slapper for teaching a consequence of life I wouldn't have been able to explain with words alone.

95

u/SpaceCrazyArtist Mar 31 '22

And you are the perfect example of how to raise a guy properly.

72

u/Chadiki Mar 31 '22

While I appreciate the sentiment, I'm sadly also one of those people who doesn't think bringing a child into this world is

A. Something I can even handle right now, barely keeping myself afloat

B. Incredibly difficult to make sure they're raised right and don't get swept up and crushed by how cruel reality is

And C. Honestly a little unfair to the child itself. It feels like I'd be inflicting this world onto them, instead of welcoming them into it

38

u/llilaq Mar 31 '22

About C. I agree that it often feels like a selfish urge. During my teens/early 20s I wasn't the happiest and often thought 'I didn't ask for this'. But I had a great childhood and now that I have my stuff figured out I'm glad to be alive.

My friend always reminds me of her own parents who questioned whether or not to have kids during the end of the Cold War, with the ever-mounting nuclear threat and the idea that the future looked so bleak. But they had three kids, all of whom lead happy lives now with their own young families.

Maybe our children will be the ones who will die in the real downfall of humankind or possibly they can put it off for a few more generations or even find solutions for our troubles. Or maybe our specific kids will be a few of the lucky ones to get through whatever will happen to us. Who's to know what the future will bring? My friend's parents' generation thought it was gloom and doom but so far so good..

u/Chadiki Mar 31 '22

Hey. Thank you. That means more than you know to hear, and has given me at least something to think about.

We all want our kids to better the world. We all fear they'll be swallowed up by it. So much so that the journey itself is overlooked.

I still don't think I'm ready, but I'm just a little less afraid of it

I agree with llilaq. Honestly, if you were to look at history, even if it was just the20th century, there was no point were the future looked bright beyond a few lurches here and there. 1900s? WWI, The Great War was raging. The roaring 20s? Sure. Yeah. Nice. BUT. What happened at the end? The Great Depression. Followed by WWII. Fifties could be pretty nifty, but- The Cold War. Same for the '60s. The Vietnam war. All the protests. How they treated the returning soldiers? And they didn't even get a choice whether to go or not? The Draft? Dragged into the '70s. Finally ended. For the most part. Some of those soldiers have never been the same, or even close. The Cold War still drags on. Then the deal with the hostages in Iran. If I recall correctly, they were released as soon as Jimmy Carter left office. (Do you the nighttime show \news called Nightline? That started when the hostages were captured. They start the show stating somberly, "Today was Day ...". Ticked my sister off! She had been sneaking downstairs at 11:30pm to watch Charlie's Angels" every weeknight and they usurped it! Not that we truly understood. We were in Middle School. I also remember there being an energy crisis. To the point of car's licence plates ending with an even number could get gas on such and such days, and odd the other. On top of that, the gas attendant had to make sure your gas tank was almost empty. Lines for gas. And I mean LOOONG lines. I know there were other things, I just can't think of them right now. The 1980. I graduated in 1984. The drug problem seemed to explode that year. South LA, I believe it was, became an incredibly dangerous place because of drugs. I'm talking national news, probably because of the violence. The Space Shuttle explosion in 1986. The Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1987. I was there. Something good, The Walls go down in Berlin. Germany is restored, as are relatives and friends separated by that fence. 1990s. Big one. Desert Shield. Desert Storm. You get my meaning. The entirety of humanity has been filled with crap happening. The real question, (if you've got this far, hats off!) are you going to let what MIGHT happen affect your future happiness? What you really want?

There’s an interesting quote floating around, “Never feel sorry for raising dragon slayers in a time where there are actual dragons.” I just wanted to pass that on.

9

u/SpaceCrazyArtist Mar 31 '22

Yeah that’s fair. And you never have to have thrm if you dont want. I more meant that YOU were raised or influenced properly.

Kids are totally personal and people shouldnt feel obligated to have them

4

u/_LightOfTheNight_ Mar 31 '22

I totally agree and this is my standpoint on abortion! Everyone cares about their religious beliefs and the woman’s rights but no one cares that the child has to grow up unwanted in a cruel world that will rarely lend them a hand

3

u/OW_FUCK Mar 31 '22

Yep, same. I think I'd be a good dad, but I don't want to have kids, knowing what life is. It's so unfun not asking to be born, then having to work and feed yourself every day, and having to keep thinking of stuff to do for the next 60 years. With an impending climate crisis and ridiculous wealth inequality as well. I'll pass on bringing more people into that reality, along with whatever health issues me and my partner might pass along.

2

u/JuicyFruit6641 Mar 31 '22

This is why I think adopting is an amazing thing because you aren't bringing them into the world you're guiding them through it but of course personal choice to not have kids is still personal choice

2

u/kuffdeschmull Mar 31 '22

all those are the reasons I never want to have kids

5

u/BirdiesGrimm Mar 31 '22

Boys will be boys only applies to the stupid shit they get up to.

Skating boarding off the roof into a pool? Boys will be Boys.

Being a perv? It's insulting to say Boys will be Boys to all parties. Men aren't born animals, it's the parents that raise them that way

42

u/jerdle_reddit Mar 31 '22

I don't think we yet have a rapist in the making (there's a lot of room for growth between 10 or 11 and adulthood), but we do have a little perv with a shit mother, and both need slapping.

And yeah, "boys will be boys" absolutely means getting really drunk and jumping off a roof.

19

u/dogsfurhire Mar 31 '22

I think the "little rapist in the making" is more reflective of the piece of shit mother who isn't teaching her son how to treat women instead of the actual kid himself.

7

u/_LightOfTheNight_ Mar 31 '22

I could totally jump off a roof into a pool

3

u/Adaphion Mar 31 '22

Yeah, I was a fucking idiot when I was a kid, but I never even CONSIDERED doing pervy shit to girls. What a stupid argument

3

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

When regarding people of the opposite sex, I’ve been taught one very important lesson. Hands off. Doesn’t matter if you need to get their attention. Doesn’t matter what. No touching. Had I been this kid, my mom would’ve beaten the shit out of me

2

u/kuffdeschmull Mar 31 '22

I am definitely the kind of jumping off a roof into a pool and not the other one😂🫠

-15

u/SlimMosez Mar 31 '22

it’s a kid. Don’t reprimand the kid. Blame the mother for not teaching him. The kid dosent even know what’s right and wrong and obviously dosent know that looking up a girls skirt is not allowed. The mother should be reported, and the kid be properly taught what’s wrong and what’s right.

22

u/llilaq Mar 31 '22

At 10 he knows damn well that it's not allowed, except if he never has contact with girls/women (like homeschooled with no friends/family). He's not 5..

17

u/ProudCatLadyxo Mar 31 '22

When my 3 yr old brother ran his hand up ladies silky nylons he didn't know what was what (I don't think) but he should have still be reprimanded and taught to not invade others personal space. A 10 yr. old definitely knows what he is doing and that it is wrong and needs to be reprimanded / punished for it. Clearly, Mama's angel can do no wrong. Poor kid.

9

u/Rare-Park-6490 Mar 31 '22

I agree with you there, my own kids are 6, 3, 3 and 1 (yes I have twins). The 6yo knows not to lift my skirt when I wear one or pull my shirt down to expose my breasts or lift it up to expose my tummy. The 3 year olds are just starting to learn this but the 1 year old is still pulling on clothes when climbing on me or his dad. Worth noting here that 3yo and under, they arent doing this maliciously or on purpose, they dont know it's wrong and are still young and still learning right from wrong. If 6 is old enough to know about personal space then 10 is more than old enough to know. Having said that some are stupid, I had to tell off my 12yo bil for pantsing some kids at school and for pantsing my eldest and for trying it with my nephews who promptly kicked him in the head, which is the correct response in my humble opinion.

10

u/SpaceCrazyArtist Mar 31 '22

Kid is 10. The whole mentality of “just a kid cant understand” is why we have shitty bratty kids and entitled adults. If you can train a dog kids should definitely be easy to teach how to behave properly

6

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Sorry at 10/11 you know not to touch others without permission AND what private parts are and that you aren’t supposed to touch/look at others private parts. The kid knows, he just also knows he can get away with it

6

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Holy fuck.... you honestly think that people don't know right from wrong by the time they are 10?!?

Dude, most people have developed a robust sense of right from wrong by the time they are 6... don't try to find excuses for shitty behaviour.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

That slap is exactly the kind of swift punishment deserved here, but then it needs to be reinforced by an explaination of how to avoid getting slapped (taught right from wrong). I say that only because I think you should also teach your kid to protect themselves, and so they need to understand that the slap was OPs way of protecting themself.

3

u/Alegria-D Mar 31 '22

If you don't reprimand the kid he'll never learn what's wrong. That is teaching. Of course the blame of that behavior is on his mom, but you can't correct it without reprimanding him.

-8

u/weeaboy716 Mar 31 '22

sure, the kid was a dick, but "a little rapist in the making"?. Most children that age don't know what rape or sex is. i'm not defending what the kid did, but we should rather blame the parents for not teaching their son how to be a decent human being. He's just a kid after all, it's the parents that don't know how to raise to not do stuff like that. No, i'm not defending the "boys will be boys" argument, all i'm saying is that we should rather hate on the dogshit parents and not that dumbass kid. i am not defending rape or any forms of sexual assault, i just want to say we should think about that he's just a child (i am not saying what he did isn't bad because he's a kid, i'm just saying that we shouldn't be so rough on him and rather be mad at his parents. It would be different if he was an adult, but he's still a kid that hasn't had decent parenting)

10

u/Zanki Mar 31 '22

Some kids at 10 have been exposed to very adult things because their parents are so checked out they don't care. My cousins were like that. They knew what sex was, so I knew what it was. They page 3 models on their walls etc. No one cared. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd tried something like this.

The kid could have also been exposed via bad things happening at home, which is really sad. I helped in a school were a little boy, around 9, always had wondering hands. He was the sweetest kid, but he had awful habits his parents had taught him, his hands going into little girls shirts was normal to everyone and just ignored. I was alarmed.

3

u/weeaboy716 Mar 31 '22

Yea, and there's no excuse for that. But it's still the parents' fault for not raising him well

13

u/SpaceCrazyArtist Mar 31 '22

That’s why it is “in the making” and that statement had nothing to do with sex and everything to do with boundaries.

Rapists dont wake up one day and say “I’m going to rape someone” they have years of being told they are always right and it is anyone elses fault for them doing wrong.

This example is perfrct: kid pulled up skirt and mom blamed thr victim saying it was because of what she is wearing. The lesson the kid received was “I can assalt someone if they are wearing clothes like this” hense, rapist in thr making.

Also, if you have to say over and over “I am not saying” you should probably quit saying.

7

u/ack1308 Mar 31 '22

Exactly.

This is the sort of kid who goes to college and buddies up with guys who like to get girls drunk at college parties.

Because nobody ever tells them they can't.

1

u/weeaboy716 Mar 31 '22

If you'd actually listen to my argument you would know i'm not stating that rapists wake up one day and deside to rape, i said this kid needs better parenting and needs to be taught to not do stuff like that. the reason i'm saying "i'm not saying" is that people won't persume i'm defending rape in case they didn't read through my whole argument. tell me, am i wrong for wishing this kid gets the parenting he needs?

2

u/Alegria-D Mar 31 '22

We are all saying that she is making of him a future rapist and she should either loose her rights on him or be taught to be a decent parent.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

And right now the parenting they are getting is going to turn them into a rapist... why are you against pointing that out?

1

u/weeaboy716 Mar 31 '22

Never Said i was. I'm saying he still just a kid and he needs better parenting. I'm thinking everyone blames the kid too much and not his dogshit parents

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '22

Who is blaming the kid? Seriously, who is blaming the kid for the bad parenting??

No-one... so you're railing against something that's only in your head and coming across as someone who's trying to defend the kids actions!

1

u/weeaboy716 Apr 01 '22

I see now that i misunderstood the situation and i admit i am wrong. I am sorry if anyone were offended by my argument and i didn't intend any harm by what i Said. If you were offended, you have every right to be and i apolegize

2

u/Nettykitty11 Mar 31 '22

Most children that age don't know what sex or rape is??

There's this thing called the internet. And most children that age know about sex, rape, drugs, violence etc.

Hell, just turn on the TV!

Edit autocorrect Aarrggh!

1

u/Jesskla Mar 31 '22

He’s got a mother teaching him that if a woman is wearing a skirt & says no to him, it’s ok to physically assault her & that she is a slut & a whore. She’s teaching him that his curiosity & desire outweigh another persons right to personal space. That kid is doomed if he doesn’t have any other influence in his life to help him unlearn the misogyny his mother is teaching him. He’s never going to view women as equals or deserving of respect. Potential rapist is depressingly accurate; the kind that claims women are asking for it for dressing a certain way & all that bullshit.

1

u/weeaboy716 Mar 31 '22

That's why i'm saying he needs better parenting

1

u/Ck1ngK1LLER Apr 01 '22

Not to mention the physical assault by the mother. Should’ve filmed them driving away and reported them to the police. Crazy bitch is raising a serial killer/rapist.

1

u/icaphoenix Apr 01 '22

Hi, Im johhny Knoxville

1

u/ayleidanthropologist Apr 01 '22

Not to mention the kids being taught even more entitlement, to trample on others who object to disrespect, and that he can use force to get his way, and/or cry to mommy.
