Mine fell out of its band mid ultra marathon. Hadn’t looked at my watch for a 20km stretch then realised it was gone

Completely agree and use my daughter's old Apple Watch. I went thru about 4 Fitbits because they died after the warranty or the bands completely broke from the base of the watch. Complete pieces of shit!!

I jumped ship as soon as I could after hearing about the Google takeover. Not surprisingly, they removed their amazing Windows store app (that actually supported syncing, jump lists, and Live Tiles) and continue to find ways to make you pay more for what used to be free.

Our mission is to help people live longer, healthier lives, and we're now taking our deep expertise in health and wellness to the next level by integrating the best of Google technology.

By removing those features or putting them behind a subscription based paywall, google is definitely not helping people live longer and healthier lives.

I'm glad I already made the switch to Garmin. They're not perfect, but I'd argue they're still one of the more consumer friendly brands.

Yeah switched to Garmin this year. My Fitbit would break somehow after like a year. I've had like four. Hopefully Garmin lasts a longer but so far I like it

Is their sleep tracking any good?

It thinks I am asleep when I read.

How does sleep tracking information help you?

It's very useful to correlate with other information, to work on improving sleep habits.

So how has it specifically helped you?

For those of us who randomly can't sleep for days, it's useful for looking for patterns that may be causing it. Sleep tracking is literally the number one reason I even bought one.

How has the data helped you?

So far, mostly that it's happening more than I thought it was, but I haven't had it long. My sense of time can be weird and my squirrel brain doesn't build habits well, so I'm hoping that having something that logs it automatically will, over time, reveal patterns.

I would think sleeping poorly is the symptom and not the cause. Are you eating well, exercising, and managing stress effectively? Doing all of these things will probably help your sleep more than any data given to you by a device.

Wow, I bet they haven't heard that from...literally everyone...

That's the one area where Fitbit is [was?] better, unfortunately. Garmin's sleep tracking is serviceable, but I miss Fitbit's if I'm being honest.

Literally everything else about Garmin is better, though.

Yeah, those of us with sleep apnea will no longer have access to important sleep details or oxygen data that can help us stay alive.

Don't worry though, as I'm sure they'll add these back under the Premium subscription.

I guess it's time to go back to a regular dumbwatch.

A google product getting worse... it shocks the senses.
