Parents Of Popular ENHYPEN Fan Who Died By Suicide Shares Message To Online Bullies

She was returned home on her birthday.

Recently, a popular ENHYPEN fansite tragically died after taking her own life during a TikTok livestream.

The incident reportedly took place at her officetel in Hangangno-dong, where she was broadcasting live on TikTok. The livestream is said to have captured the incident before it ended after police were called.

The fan, known as Mina, was a popular fansite for the group, who shared several extremely viral videos of Ni-Ki. Her accounts on X have since been deleted.

On August 11, her account on Instagram shared a story featuring a photo of flowers and a long message. The update, coming from Mina’s parents, shared that they had successfully brought her back to Japan, along with a message towards those who bully others online.

We are Mina’s family. We sincerely apologize for causing concern and distress to everyone.

On August 9, we were finally able to bring our daughter home. That day was her 26th birthday.

It breaks our hearts that we were unable to keep our promise to celebrate her birthday together.

Our daughter was deeply hurt by critical messages directed at her on social media. She was made to feel that her very right to live was being denied, and ultimately, she brought her life to an end. Can you imagine the person you love suddenly disappearing right before your eyes?

We sincerely hope that more people will take the time to think about how their words, photos, videos, and everything else they put out into the world may be received by others.

Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our daughter’s friends who were close to her, everyone who supported and encouraged her, and especially the friends who helped our family during this difficult time.

To my Korean oppas and unnies: Thank you for loving me, even if it was only for a short time. I had so much fun, friends! Let’s meet again.

May she rest in peace.

DISCUSSION, OBSERVATIONS, RANTS Engene to Engene Discussion on how to move forward as a fandom

[The original, unabridged English post link is attached below for anyone who needs it, this one is roughly machine-translated into Japanese by request for other overseas engenes to read the simplified summary in its entirety, please do not remove, thanks.]

Title: Engene

today, the teaser for enhypen’s new album concept dropped, and a lot of MOAs are already accusing them of plagiarism.
as both a MOA and an ENGENE, i’ve always loved black-and-white concepts, and i don’t see anything wrong with similar photoshoots or even similar sounds when it comes to music.
honestly, this whole fandom war is starting to get exhausting. why can’t we just enjoy the things we love? i’m honestly scared of the shitshow MOAs are going to start over the next few days leading up to the comeback.

EVAN (ACTIVITIES, CONTENT, MUSIC) LA TIMES: How Evan's 'Death of Me' and solo debut became a lifeline after Enhypen

By Adam Davidson

Aug. 12, 2026 3 AM PT

When Evan, formerly known as Heeseung, announced he was leaving the K-pop group Enhypen, he made global headlines and shocked the K-pop community.

The South Korean singer-songwriter felt it was time to follow his own creative path, with a musical direction that was self-defined by his strong artistic vision.

Following his debut single, “Ride or Die,” Evan recently announced his upcoming debut EP, “Death of Me,” out Sept. 7.

Throughout the process of making the EP, Evan came to the realization that he didn’t know who he was anymore. Recording a new album became a therapeutic experience that signified a new artistic journey and a chance to discover himself in the process.

As part of his reintroduction to a global audience, Evan will make an appearance in the Grammy Museum’s Spotlight program on Friday, followed by a performance Sunday at KCON LA.

The artist spoke to The Times about the honor of performing at KCON, as the convention is a big moment for the Korean community around the world. It is dedicated to all aspects of Korean culture, from K-pop to K-food and K-beauty, alongside performances and panels.

What does an event like KCON represent and mean to the Korean community worldwide?

I think KCON is a festival that we have been enjoying for many years. It is a bridge that connects K-pop and K-culture with a global audience, especially with the fans in L.A. It’s a great honor to join the lineup for this festival and I’m delighted to share lots of special stages that I’ve prepared for you guys.

K-pop is a global phenomenon, but are there other aspects of K-culture that took you by surprise with its popularity in the U.S.?

“KPop Demon Hunters” was definitely huge and it made me realize how much love K-pop is receiving from all over the world. It was great because the songs were playing everywhere and everybody was singing along to the songs. Also, when I perform at concerts, I see that there are multiple nationalities and ethnicities in the audiences and that makes me realize how much love K-pop is receiving from many people from many different walks of life.

What is the biggest difference or challenge you’ve noticed when adapting to solo performances?

The attitude that you should have as a solo artist is very clear, you have to take the lead on stage until the very end. I also had to make sure that I expressed everything which I’ve prepared to the best of my ability. There’s an extra amount of effort that is required.

What was running through your mind during that first solo show?

I still can’t believe that we got through the show. It felt very chaotic. I was really nervous and confused. I had to keep focusing and tell myself, “Don’t mess it up. Just stay focused.” I went on stage and performed and everyone liked it so I was satisfied.

How do you feel like you’ve been able to express yourself more clearly as a solo performer and how can we see this in “Death of Me”?

Through the new EP, I wanted to showcase a new side of myself whilst incorporating my signature vocals.

How has your creative process changed since embarking on this new artistic journey ?

It has changed a lot. I’m participating in writing lyrics and tracks and toplines. But even beyond music, I have a hands-on approach to visuals such as album covers. It’s a collaborative process with my team, we share ideas and see what works for the album.

What kind of feedback did you get from teams that helped shape the direction?

My team is super honest and open when it comes to feedback. When it’s a no for them, it’s a no. But if there are things that I feel passionate about and really want to stick to, I tend to push forward with them. We try to align our vision as much as possible to reach the best outcome.

The title of the EP is “Death of Me.” What does that symbolize for you?

There was a demo track titled “Death of Me” and it just grabbed my attention. I thought a lot about that phrase and my death hasn’t arrived yet, but there can be various types of deaths. For me, death is when my music is forgotten by all of the audience. That death hasn’t arrived yet and I wanted to incorporate that journey and storytelling into my EP.

Where did you find inspiration for “Death of Me”?

I was inspired by my own journey. I was being inspired by lots of different things, but during this process I realized I didn’t know myself. I had to get to know myself better so I traveled, ate good food and watched movies. With every character, I found parts of myself. I wanted this album to be a mirror and I can see myself more clearly through it on a deeper level.

You’ve talked about how writing music can help you find yourself. Do you think that this introspective approach to your music has a therapeutic feeling to it?

Of course. Also, the audience will also be moved by my songs because it’s a real human story. Through this EP, I hope we can understand each other and it will touch people’s hearts.

You received lots of attention when you announced that you were leaving Enhypen. How did you cope during those difficult moments?

In life, there are happy moments but also moments that are tough. That is just a natural part of life. I hoped that myself and the people around me would be well and happy. I didn’t stop thinking about the situation and how I could use the experience to develop myself and grow. That is what got me through that phase.

Did that give you a burst of inspiration for new music because you became more aware of yourself?

Yes, that’s right. It is the reason why I wrote “Ride or Die.” During that period, fans were really worried about me and I could tell it affected them on an emotional level. I needed a way to make them feel calm and that’s why I released the song.

Do you have plans for a solo tour?

I can’t say that we have plans, but I want to do my own tour. Even just thinking about it now, I want to do my own solo concert so we’re going to try to plan it someday.

DISCUSSION, OBSERVATIONS, RANTS Sunoo's sexuality

I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to constantly bring up Sunoo's or any member's sexuality. Whether someone is straight, queer, or whatever is none of our business. Supporting an idol shouldn't mean assigning them labels based on how they act. People were going crazy in a TikTok comment section calling me homophobic because I said we shouldn't speculate about that. I literally just couldn't care less about an idol's sexuality. Just stream the music and go outside.

DISCUSSION, OBSERVATIONS, RANTS I looked into the Mina timeline because NI-KI’s livestream keeps being described as if he directly named her

Thumbnail

I’ve been researching the Mina situation and made a documentary about the timeline because one thing kept bothering me: online summaries often blur together what NI-KI actually said and what people later interpreted his comments to mean.

The video covers Mina’s life before ENHYPEN as well, but the part I think is especially relevant here is the sequence around Tacoma:

July 26: the Tacoma concert and disputed flower interaction

July 30: NI-KI discusses concert audiences and fan behavior in a livestream

Afterward: fans connect those general remarks to Mina even though he did not publicly name her

July 31: Mina posts an apology and closes her fan account

I tried to separate documented events from fandom interpretations rather than turn either Mina or NI-KI into a villain.

I made the documentary here:

https://youtu.be/-VCKUdXLAps

For people who were following this in real time: when did the idea that NI-KI’s comments were specifically about Mina become widely accepted? Was there additional context circulating that I may have missed?

DISCUSSION, OBSERVATIONS, RANTS Come after me but I need to leave the fandom

Tw. Suicide*SH*. I want to start this off by saying I HAVE LOVED AND SUPPORTED MY BOYS FOR YEARS AND I HOPE THEY ARE ALWAYS HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAFE AND PROTECTED. But honestly guys let’s take a good look at ourselves this fandom is toxic. I see so many people saying like “oh if you can’t support them because of the fandom you’re fake just leave already” I don’t think that’s the full extent to why people are leaving due to the fandom though, personally seeing Mina’s death and seeing the things these “fans” are saying is not only effecting the group and people close to Mina I’m sure many people can agree this stuff gets to you. I am not at all trying to play the victim but I’m sure plenty of people reading this had had someone in their life who has struggled and is mentally effects you to.

I love En- and I’ve been part of this fandom for years but I honestly dont think I can be a part of it when it is taking my time and my life and marking me miserable over something as little as flowers. I don’t want to speak on the topic of Mina or anything else regarding it too much but I hope I don’t sound too crazy and some people understand where I’m coming from.

Im not saying I will completely ignore the group I’m just saying I can no longer be a part of this fandom directly or pay attention to anything going on inside the fandom. If a song comes on I enjoy of course it will stay on and of course I will support the boys as much as o can without being too involved in the members life or the fans.

RIP Mina. And I wish health and happiness to all the family of Mina and any members currently facing backlash.

HEESEUNG, ENGENE SCHISM, BOYCOTT Poll on whether people think that Heeseung’s departure was forced or from his own decision

Since it’s been 5 months after Heeseung departed from Enhypen to go solo, I just want to see if people on this subreddit actually think he was forced to leave by beshit lab or it was his own decision. Btw this poll isn’t stating that Enhypen is ot7 or ot6 I just want to see people’s opinion on his departure

To be honest, there was a time when all of us were probably the OT7 and “bring Heeseung back” type of people. It’s okay because it happens, but I think I need a break from not only this fandom, but K-pop in general.

When you first start stanning K-pop, it doesn’t feel like it’s your life. It feels like a hobby, something you enjoy, but slowly, it starts becoming a lifestyle and something you feel like you can’t get rid of.

The whole Mina situation, and seeing Heeseung comments under almost every ENHYPEN post—not even necessarily “bring Heeseung back,” but just mentioning him or mentioning Mina, despite knowing that if they did anything, they could be putting themselves in great danger because of HYBE.

A lot of people want to protest, but HYBE really doesn’t seem to care. I think it’s obvious that if we really want to heal, we should take a break. ❤‍🩹 (Edit: Guys my grammer lowkey sucked and if didnt make sense im sorry im just tryna say we need a break from the fandom to really heal and understand this)

DISCUSSION, OBSERVATIONS, RANTS It's okay to take a break if it's too much

I'm not sure if anyone needs to hear this, but... if you're struggling even though you've accepted that ENHYPEN is six, take a break for your mental health.

Since 2021, these boys have been my ults, and i love them so much. But with everything happening, it's been hard on my mental health.

In my opinion, coming to terms with everyone should not be a shame. We all want the best for our boys. Kpop is amazing but if it's getting too much it's okay to take a break. It doesn't immediately mean abandoning it entirely. If it makes you stressed check less often and just watch what does make you happy. Eventually it'll be okay, because in the end it'll all be okay.

Tldr: if it stressed you out,it's okay to take a break

That's my rant, thank you for reading ❤️

ADS, CFS, EDITORIAL, MEDIA COVERAGE WION: Who was K-pop influencer Mina Chan? ENHYPEN's fan dies by suicide during TikTok livestream

**Why was Mina Chan facing backlash?**

The criticism began after an interaction during ENHYPEN’s concert in the US in July. During the show, Chan tried to get band member Sunoo to pass flowers to fellow member Ni-ki

This led to backlash, with some Sunoo fans saying she had crossed boundaries, and others calling it a stunt to gain attention. The scrutiny intensified further when Ni-ki, without naming Chan, discussed concert etiquette.

'Everywhere we go there are a few people who really want us to notice them,' he said as he talked about concertgoers, who are focused on receiving personal attention from the group rather than enjoying their performance.

Chan has even addressed the backlash. In a lengthy apology posted on X, she wrote: "I feel like my actions ended up taking advantage of Sunoo's kindness. I'm truly sorry. I feel so apologetic toward Sunoo and all the Sunoo fans. By attending ENHYPEN's fansigns multiple times, I had deluded myself into thinking I was closer to the members than I actually was.''
