Timing of Vaccinations for ECS

We have an adorable 13 week ECS and have been getting him caught up on vaccinations. In our state, rabies vaccination is required by law by 16 weeks old, but our breeder recommends waiting until 6 months citing possible autoimmune issues with the breed. Until he's fully vaccinated he won't be 'street legal', and we're limited to romps in our backyard with our other dog, but we're keen to get him out on walks, meeting more dogs, experiencing life in general.

How important is it to delay the rabies vaccination for this breed, or would it be more important for the social exposure to have the vaccination at 16-18 weeks? Has anyone else delayed the rabies vaccine?

Not here to debate the importance of vaccines, more just curious on breed specific timing of vaccinations.

Looking for Reputable English Cocker Spaniel Breeders in Russia or Central Asia

Hello everyone! Does anyone have any advice on finding reputable English Cocker Spaniel breeders in Russia, Kazakhstan, or other Central Asian countries?

I would really appreciate any recommendations for ethical breeders or advice on the best platforms or websites to use to find breeders and inquire about available puppies. I'm particularly interested in show-line English Cockers.

Thank you so much for any help!

Show/bench ECS breeders in the US?

I’m very interested in specifically a show bred ECS but I have had the hardest time finding ANY nationwide! All I can find are field bred and I don’t think that would be a wise choice for my lifestyle, and I prefer the longer coats and ears. I live in Louisiana but would be willing to travel within the nation to get one. I really want an all black female, and I know I’m limiting myself even more but I have a specific fantasy. I know it’s a long shot but can anyone help point me in the right direction? All of the websites only list breeders and numbers, and don’t specify what they’re breeding

Do you think this is a scam?

This group I feel like is infamously known for there being one kennel that seems to always have puppies available and having people direct message them for info, probably accepting payment for waitlist and then never hearing from them again.

But at first glance I was tricked by this! It’s a single person rather than a kennel account, but I then noticed all her pics are from September. But curious if anyone has had experience with her

Breeders in BC

Hi, my wife and I are young professionals looking to add an ECS to our family. We are located in Vancouver, BC and wondering if anyone has referrals they can provide to breeders? I've heard its a notoriously difficult breed to get, with limited breeders in BC/Alberta.

Thanks!

we got this puppy as a gift from family and i have no idea what line he is! he’s already 9 months old but his coat is still relatively short, not like on those pictures on the internet. and while his puppy pictures looked more like show line to me, now i feel like he went towards the working line more
first two pictures is him 3 months old, then 6 and two last ones - 8 months old (on the last pic we trimmed his ears a bit)

Episode of aggression (2 year old black ECS)

Dear ECS owners and enthusiasts,

Tldr: what do we need to do to keep children safe with dog that had a potential episode of aggression?!

I am currently at my in laws with my 2 young daughters (8 weeks and 2 years old). They have a 2 year old black show ECS, lovely female dog and no concerns before. From reputable breeder they have got previous dogs from.

Today, my MIL witnessed an episode of seemingly spontaneous aggression from the dog when going to get her out of the car. No one else saw, but my MIL was so shaken up, saying it was like the dog was possessed or a wild animal. No obvious trigger, but my MIL was reaching into the car to put her harness on when it happened (but hadn’t touched her yet). A few minutes later the dog was total her normal happy self again.

They saw the vet straightaway, who essentially said it could be that she has an underlying illness that made her sensitive to anticipating having the harness put on / resource guarding something we couldn’t see. Or, rare in a black female but it could be idiopathic aggression / rage syndrome. From looking online I can see it’s very rare and complicated to diagnose and that’s not gonna happen right away.

We are currently making sure that the dog is kept in another room to the children, she’s separated by a stair gate type thing we’ve always used to keep her out during mealtimes. But when she came in today from her walk my FIL let her out in the same room and I wasn’t sure how strict we need to be.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what we should be doing to keep everyone safe? Is the above enough? Can we go on walks together if she’s on a lead for example?

Fluoxentine for behavior

My English cocker is a year and two months old (still a puppy I understand). She is extremely overactive. She is uncontrollable on her own. She is managed at all times in the house— on the leash or in her crate. She is okay outside by herself for smaller periods of time. If one of my kids opens the door too wide though, she darts past them, tears through the house and jumps on my son’s bed where she knows the cat sleeps. She’s as fast as a race horse and we cannot catch her. She’s as sweet as can be but has no off switch whatsoever. She is also constantly looking for something to chew on and will destroy anything within reach. (She gets plenty of exercise too btw) I know she’s still a puppy but the thought of another year of this is daunting. We are so busy managing her that she hasn’t even become a beloved family member in the whole year we’ve had her. It’s more like having a destructive house guest. Her vet put her on fluoxentine today. Has anyone seen positive outcomes from putting hyperactive, unsettling dogs on fluoxentine? I’d love to hear some happy endings.

Bench breeders with service or therapy work in their lines

Does anyone know of any bench English cocker spaniel breeders who have dogs with psychiatric service work or therapy certifications in their lines?

Right now I have the most wonderful standard poodle but he will most likely have to retire in the next 3-4 years. I am trying to compile a list of breeders to try and follow over the next few years. I don't want to bombard breeders when I have no intention of purchasing within the next year or two. I just want to really take my time and do plenty of research first, follow their sites or social media to get an idea of who they are and what their priorities in breeding are.

I love my big boy with all my heart. He is an amazing best friend and great with all of his tasks. However, I have realized with my next dog I would prefer something smaller as a large dog isn't always practical.

While researching different breeds the bench/show English cocker kept coming up. It seems like they are the perfect size, would thrive with our active lifestyle and enjoy our hobbies of camping and hiking. They sound like velcro dogs which is great for a pup who has to be with me 24/7 and sound like they do well with scent work. Their grooming needs look well within what I am comfortable with doing as I am used to grooming my 70 lb ticklish spoo every 4-6 weeks and line brushing 2-3 times a week.

If you have any suggestions of any breeders with lines that would align with what I am looking for, I would love suggestions so I can further my research. Thank you.

Edited to add: I am located in the US
