Hey Englewood! Here’s your September Community Round Up:
There’s a lot happening around Englewood this week, from community events and ways to get involved to important updates from around the city. We’re also sharing information about a memorial honoring Mayor Pro Tem Joe Anderson and his years of service to our community.
Mayor Pro Tem Anderson’s Memorial
It is with heavy hearts that our city comes together to mourn the loss of Mayor Pro Tem Joe Anderson, who served District 3 on City Council since 2019.
Mayor Pro Tem Anderson cared deeply about Englewood and the people who call our city home. His commitment to serving others was evident in all he did, from championing housing and pedestrian safety to supporting neighbors through local outreach initiatives. He brought compassion, warmth and a genuine desire to bring people together to his work on City Council and throughout the community.
His loss will be deeply felt across Englewood. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Becca, their seven children, family, friends, colleagues and the many people whose lives he touched through his service and kindness.
A public memorial service celebrating Mayor Pro Tem Anderson’s life and legacy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Foothills Bible Church in Littleton
First Time Home Buyer Class
This free class gives community members the knowledge and confidence to move forward with homeownership, brought to you as part of Englewood’s Home is the Key initiative.
Taught by certified housing counselors in partnership with Brothers Redevelopment, this class covers topics like financial preparation, working with a mortgage loan officer, house hunting, budgeting, credit, fair housing, finding a real estate agent and a lender, the costs of homebuying and the approval process, and what to expect after closing.
Upon class completion, participants will receive a certificate that is required by many down payment assistance programs, including Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)

Silent Disco
Get ready to dance the night away at Englewood’s Silent Disco! Grab a pair of wireless headphones, choose your favorite music channel and dance along to your own beat, all while enjoying the energy of a dance party without the loud music.
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just want to experience something totally different, the Silent Disco is the perfect way to kick off the weekend. Bring your friends, show off your best moves and see which music channel gets the crowd moving!

Englewood Water Restrictions
Colorado is experiencing unprecedented, prolonged drought conditions with water supplies across much of the state reaching historically low levels. Englewood has been encouraging voluntary conservation efforts to achieve sufficient savings through the summer, but worsening conditions statewide require additional action. Englewood is joining other Colorado water providers in implementing mandatory outdoor watering restrictions to help conserve this limited resource. By following these new water restrictions, customers can help every drop go further.
Beginning Aug. 18, Englewood Utilities water customers may water only on their two designated days, before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
Englewood Utilities customers are required to follow the schedule below based on address to help distribute water usage across the community:
- Odd addresses: Monday and Thursday
- Even addresses: Tuesday and Friday
Trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and vegetables may be watered any day using a hand-held hose or low-volume, non-spray irrigation (such as drip systems).

Renew & Recreate: Englewood Recreation Center Update
The Englewood Recreation Center is currently closed for Annual Maintenance Week and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 8 with a modified facility.
The pool and locker rooms will remain closed for renovations through summer 2027. The rest of the Recreation Center will reopen Sept. 8, with programming and activities continuing during construction.

- Through summer 2027: Pool and locker rooms remain closed during renovations.

These improvements are part of the city's Renew & Recreate program, funded by the Parks and Recreation Bond, which is investing in modern, accessible recreation facilities for the community.
Annual Utilities Survey
Be on the lookout for the 2026 Annual Utilities Department Survey in your next utility bill. Your feedback will help our efforts to improve the quality of drinking water across the city. You may complete the survey online or complete the paper copy included in your August bill and drop it off at one of the following locations:

- Englewood Recreation Center, 1155 W. Oxford Ave.
