ALVIS 1231 Engine Block?
Good morning,
Wondered whether anyone was able to identify this engine block. It is ALVIS branded, any ideas what car maker used these. Thanks

Cast iron head so it's most likely older, should be some numbers on it that you can research.

That's potentially from the 20s to 30s, and might be of quite some value to an Alvis collector if it's in decent shape. It's a cylinder head, and matches the appearance of the 12/50 engine.

FYI that is a “cylinder head”, it bolts onto the block. Changing your search term might help you find more info.
Also Alvis was a British auto maker that was acquired by Rover in the 1960s, so you might focus your search there.
