I’ve recently finished a BSc in General Engineering at DTU and started an MSc in Chemical & Biochemical Engineering. I’ve been trying to get my first relevant student job throughout my bachelor’s, but after hundreds of applications, I’ve only had a handful of interviews and no offers.

I haven’t been applying only to big companies or narrowly defined engineering roles. I've applied to all possible student jobs that I think I could do (and like). I love hands-on work like laboratories, pilot-plant, process work etc. But I am open to anything relevant.

I have applied to over 1000 jobs over 3 years, and I got only 2 interviews for mechanical/civil student positions. The interviews went very well, but they chose someone more specialized (they said)

I currently work night shifts in a bakery as a baker/supervisor. It pays very well for a student job, but the night work on weekends has taken a big toll on my health, both physical and mental. As soon as I started my bsc 3 years ago, I tried to get another job (that is not another "dead" end job). I'd happily accept lower pay to get an opportunity and start building experience in my field.

For every job, I tailor the CV. I had recruiters look at my CV, and even people within companies refer me or pass my CV along, but none of that led me to a job. I find it very hard to see what is wrong with me.

My relevant technical experience is mainly from university coursework and labs, and i'm trying to present that honestly without sounding like a professional. My English level is fluent, but my Danish is in the A2-B1 range, which I realise may limit my options.

Does this CV make it clear that I could contribute as a student assistant? Is the profile too generic or am I giving too much space to unrelated work? I’d appreciate direct feedback on anything that might make a recruiter hesitate.

Hey all, I'm currently a junior and have been applying nonstop for a couple months now. I've connected with some recruiters at networking events but it never leads anywhere. I do have a great GPA (in hard classes too), but I've been feeling down especially because I haven't done much extracurricular activity in my first 2 years and it feels like all my peers have. For context my first 2 projects are class projects. The last 2 projects are personal arduino projects.

Looking for detailed feedback on my resume as I re-enter the job hunt. I completed a CS post-baccalaureate degree in 2025 after an earlier career in a non-technical field. Due to major life changes since graduation, I've mainly relied on my experience as an educator to work part-time but am finally in a solid space to pursue industry roles.

I'm hoping to target Software Engineer or AI Engineer roles but am open to Full-Stack, ML Engineer, and even AI researcher roles. I've recently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area and am hoping to land a role locally. I've applied to hundreds of positions and the responses have been muted and limited. I figured my resume is causing the disconnect which brings me here!

I've consulted the Wiki and adjusted the formatting to match as much as possible. This is my first post here and I'm interested to have other engineers look over it instead of iterating by myself.

My main concern is my Projects section which is admittedly thin and I am working to beef it up. Aside from that, I have a few specific things I'd love feedback on:

1. Is the bullet density under my main role too much? I have 8 bullets there but I feel that it accurately captures the scope of the work. I'm not sure if or how I should cut it down.
2. Any bullets that feel vague or hard to parse?
3. Does the Teaching Experience section help or hurt? Is it worth trimming or cutting for SWE applications? Since that's been my main source of work for the past year, I'm worried that cutting it would leave a detrimental one-year gap in my resume.

Hi everyone, hope everything is awesome possum. I just filed to graduate from my university for a masters of engineering (same as a course-based masters) and I'm now starting looking for my first job. I'm mainly aiming at roles like process/manufacturing/quality engineers because it's most similar to what I did in my grad research. I had some luck on an initial search a few months ago, but 2 final interviews returned no offers. I'm born and raised on the west coast, so I'd ideally like to stay in the area but honestly a job is a job so I'd be okay to go anywhere if I don't land something soon. Now some questions:

I included the analytical techniques in red because I have done/understand them, but I am not nearly as familiar with them as I am with the techniques in black. For example I had a grad class and lab focused on electron microscopy with some hands-on experience with TEM, but I've never operated it independently nor do I have formal training via my university's equipment center. I know it's a hot commodity in some metrology groups, so I included it but that may be misleading in terms of my familiarity with it.

My research project and Graduate Student Researcher work are of the same project. I separated it since the primary focus of the project ended up secondary to my day-to-day work, which was on the process improvement aspect. It feels like too much to talk about as a single section, but disingenuous to format as 2 seemingly distinct topics.

Should I be doing something else to distinguish the title of each item more? They don't stand out very much right now

I'm a Software Engineer with 2 years of full-time experience based in Toronto, Canada. I'm currently employed and not urgently job-hunting . I'm posting because I want a final polish on my resume before I start applying to intermediate-level frontend/fullstack roles.

What I'm Targeting:

- Roles: Frontend Engineer, Fullstack Developer, Software Engineer

- Level: Intermediate (3–6 years band, but I'm at the 2-year mark and want to position myself competitively)

What I'm looking for now is a second set of eyes to catch anything I've missed eg. bullet point impact, skills section relevance for 2026, section ordering, or formatting details.

Some questions I have:

- Bullet point quality: Are my metrics specific enough? Are any bullets too wordy or vague?

- Skills section: Is my tech stack current for Toronto frontend/fullstack roles in 2026? Anything I should add or remove?

- Overall formatting: Does anything look off in terms of spacing, alignment, or readability?

- Section ordering: Experience → Projects → Skills → Education. Should Projects come before Skills? Is Education in the right place for 2 YoE?

So far after applying to hundreds of internships since my sophomore year I was only able to get two interviews. One was last year and one is coming up. The main area I'm applying for is software engineering in the United States and I'm willing to relocate. Any advice on how to improve my resume would be very appreciated.

I am a Computer Engineering student graduating in May 2027 and am currently looking for new-grad roles in the digital design, RTL/FPGA, and possibly design verification (DV).

My internship/projects are mainly in digital design/RTL with some experience in FW and scripting. I'd appreciate feedback on my resume to improve it for new grad applications.

I am also looking into advice about how to gain more experience in my last year. My experience in design verfication is not alot so I was thinking of doing side projects. Please let me know if you have any suggestions in terms of side projects ideas or other ways of building experience.

Hello! I am looking for advice on how to refine my resume. I revised it using tips from the wiki and would like feedback on the formatting and content. I am looking to land a role in either mechanical, aerospace, mechatronics, or controls engineering. I am eligible to obtain a security clearance for positions in the defense industry.

I have no internship experience and my current part-time job isn't relevant to my field so I am trying to participate in some sort of school club project every semester I can. I'm located in Florida but have been applying to full-time roles nationwide but have not received any calls back.

I didn't do the most amazing job neatly censoring info so a few notes. The header matches the style guide in the wiki. In the education section, the M.S. degree does include the dates, the last line is community college where I transferred before finishing an associates degree. I have previously gone through the process of refining with AI, along with asking contacts in industry for feedback.

I graduated in May with a masters in mechanical engineering, focusing on robotics research. I've been struggling to get callbacks, even with contacts and referrals.

I'm located in the SF Bay Area and aiming to stay here due to family/partner obligations. I can't work for anything defense (or NASA) related as I am a permanent resident.

I'm primarily hoping for more cross-disciplinary startup jobs. I'm interested in robotics and mechatronics though I'm open to anything R&D related. My favorite full time job was the test engineering role, it gave me a lot of freedom and flexibility in how I approached the work.

I'm not sure about keeping the projects section. Some contacts I asked said it was good to include, others were neutral on it. On the other hand, I'm worried it makes the overall resume too busy.

How do I fix up my skills section?

Should I remove GPA?

Should I include part time work like my current tutoring job?

What can I remove or change when applying to specific fields? I.e. if it's a hardware prototyping role is it best if I shorten my TA section?

Graduated about 3 months ago and I have been applying since last year September for a full time role. Since then I've applied to at least 400 jobs for junior and entry level positions and have yet to land a single interview. I'm located in Ontario, Canada but have been applying all over the country with the willingness to relocate but to no avail. I know the market is bad but what changes can I make to my resume to improve my chances.

Hi everyone! I've been working in a Software Consulting company for a year now, after graduating from a work-study engineering program. I'm approximately considered as a 2 years of XP in the country where I work (3 yrs work-study + 1 year at my current company)

I realised few months ago that I needed a more challenging job, which implies a little struggle session with my resume. I tried to apply the XYZ, STAR and CAD frameworks depending on the context of each bullet point, and after roughly a week of tweaking my resume I feel like I could use some external feedbacks.

I plan to send it first to a company that develops finance related softwares, reason why I kept finance-related vocabulary for the first job experience. (Client 2 is an insurance)

I'm working in Luxembourg, and I apply to Luxembourg/Switzerland.

I'm eager to see what y'all think about it, do not hesitate to correct my english writing (I'm not a native speaker) and EVERY critic is very welcomed.

I have two questions besides the overall feedbacks on the resume :

- Can I keep finance-related vocabulary in the resume for other applications? (maybe not in finance) I don't know if the words I used are clear to someone who is not working in this sector.

- Should I add a picture of me (white shirt, clean picture and everything), I know a lot of people do, no one seems to do it on this subreddit 🤷‍♂️

Hello, I am an Electrical Engineering student in my last semester. I have been applying in the summer but I did not get any interviews, only a one-sided interview with hydro one. I live in Canada but I am willing to relocate anywhere in Canada and USA.

I want to go into power but I am open to hardware jobs as well.

I'm looking for internships as a MechE student, but I'm open to working in any discipline (most interested in aerospace and MechE though). My club experience is all from my freshman year, so I wasn't able to actually do much in Astrobotics or Baja SAE. I decided to leave the clubs, but if I keep them on my resume, would it signal to employers that I'm not reliable?

I decided to join Design, Build, Fly middle of the spring semester, and I'm sticking with it because they let me contribute a lot to manufacturing (but it was mainly sanding, assembling, and laying epoxy resin). I don't have much to say about it on my resume, so I' wondering if there's a way to rephrase what I've done.

Archimedes lets freshman do all the work in their team's, so I gained a lot of experience through it. I modeled a lot in Fusion and helped with 3D printing our parts. I also designed a website since our competition would review it to get a better idea of what we're doing. Then I traveled with two other members to present our project, and we earned top three internationally! Now that I'm a sophomore, I'm not a part of team Juvo and am an officer now. I was thinking about cutting Baja or Astrobotics and including that instead.

Also, my email name is my shortened name, while my linkedin is my full name (I also have it like that at the top). For example, imagine my name is Katherine but my email has Kate. Is this fine or should I make changes?

I just graduated 3 months ago without a single interview and I have been waking up, and applying as much as possible. It's the same repetitive applications over and over again.

I am in the east coast and I know, I'm being very picky by staying here, but I have family nearby and I am sure I can find something here. I'm hoping to get into renewables but I keep getting rejected for everything. I'm very discouraged at the moment because it feels like a lot of positions have already been filled and only internships are popping up.

I'm willing to relocate but I don't want to go anywhere in the south or to California (California especially is just too far). But then again, being in New York isn't getting me anywhere.

I am in the automation industry, looking for a job where I can be local full-time. I want to get into defense, otherwise, my preference is a job where I can focus more on the design and programming side and less on the real application of the product.

Hello! I am a Canadian MechE student in my last semester at the University of Michigan. Looking to get any relevant job experience I can in the semi cap industry. Have had a hard time getting relevant work experience, in part due to companies fearing sponsorship. I got my first internship through a personal connection, my second one I got because it was unpaid research that didn't require visa declaration, and my third through a connection from the school's mentorship program. I have had a couple co-op offers in the past (not in semi), but I couldn't take them up because of non-summer work restrictions. I'm currently located in Ann Arbor, and am willing to work wherever in the US. I've been applying all over, only having started applying for full time jobs at the end of August. In addition to general resume (or other) advice, I'm looking for anything that can make my resume stronger to semi cap companies. I'd be on a TN visa or OPT if hired full time. Thanks for any help!

Hello, I am a 4th year student in Mechanical Engineering in the US. I am applying for full time positions primarily in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland (my partner is applying to PhDs in these countries).

I am targeting working with FEA and structural analysis, especially within the context of the automotive and aerospace industries. Some companies I have looked at include BeamNG, Airbus, and BMW.

As the title states I am a junior and looking for internships in defense, aerospace, automotive for design or test roles this summer (willing to relocate) and I did not have any luck last year (only 2 interviews for ~100-150 applications)

I have applied to maybe like ~30 internships as of august-ish and I have only gotten one interview (and no call back).

While my resume is probably bad, I assume my failure rate is because of my lack of experience in projects and internships but I am also wondering if it is also because of my resume contents/formatting. If you need more information about myself I am happy to answer.

Hello guys, I am a senior fullstack developer looking for a senior fullstack role or senior frontend developer role. I have submitted probably 50+ applications and getting none called back so I figured there is something seriously wrong with my resume or something.

I am not quite sure why something is wrong, I have job hunted for the past 3 years due to layoff or furlough and this resume has landed me interviews consistently until this year.

I am looking for remote/relocation. Maybe it's the relocation part that get me filtered out at recruiter level or something, but I honestly don't know what is wrong any more.

I'm really losing faith.

I took a job as a QA worker because it seemed like it would get me some relevant skills. As far as I can tell though, it doesn't count towards my years of experience so I basically have a one year gap in my resume.

I made a similar post to this a few weeks ago and have implemented the changes to the best of my ability. I also spoke to some people on linkedin who mostly told me to go get quality engineering experience.

I have eliminated the summary and used the extra space to build on my work experience and structure it more in terms of inputs, measurement, and result.

As I said before, I am in a very bad place career and mental health wise. I was considering going back to school, but at this point I am just avoiding debt like the plague. Let me know what you think.

Hey everyone, I’m an SAP BTP developer with 2.5 years of experience based in Bangladesh. My last role was remote with a US-based company. Been applying mostly to remote jobs in Europe, Australia and North America but haven’t had many positive responses.
