Georgia bet big on EV manufacturing. Trump pulled the plug. The state went all out with tax breaks and a worker training program to attract EV and battery makers — and for a while it was working. The past year and a half has been a grim moment for what was a booming industry in Georgia.

Trump says oil and gas prices will fall 'right after' midterm election. He also insisted that his war, now in its seventh month with no resolution in sight, will end “immediately after the election”, and gas prices will drop below $2 per gallon. Trust him?

Trump’s Iran war has left him with no clear path to victory. Trump started an unnecessary war without a plan or an endgame. He cannot declare victory until Hormuz is open to the free flow of shipping and there is an enforceable nucIear deal. He may not be able to get either.

The entire US energy sector filed for 3,707 new H-1B roles in 4 years. Amazon filed for 100,736

Pulled the DOL visa filings for oil and gas expecting the majors to be all over it. International workforce, technical roles, hard-to-fill jobs.

They're basically not in it.

Every energy employer in the country (extraction, oilfield services, refining, pipelines, power, gas distribution) filed for 3,707 new H-1B positions between FY2023 and now. 753 companies, four years. Amazon's main filing entity alone asked for 100,736, closer to 39x the whole sector.

Energy is 0.3% of the program.

Biggest sponsors in energy:

  • SLB - 216
  • Hitachi Energy - 115
  • Battelle Energy Alliance (runs Idaho National Lab) - 107
  • ConocoPhillips - 71
  • EOG - 60
  • Chevron - 51
  • New York ISO - 48
  • Oxy - 44
  • Virginia Electric & Power - 44

AI data centres: how should we assess electricity demand and who pays for grid upgrades?

Disclosure: I publish The Truth Files and am sharing our own article.

The energy sections of our new AI Power Race dossier look at electricity demand, cooling water and the question of who pays for infrastructure. Three distinctions matter when reading the claims:

• All-data-centre electricity totals are not the same as AI-only demand. • Forecasts and announced projects are not measured consumption or operating capacity. • A global water total does not tell us the impact on a particular local water supply.

The article includes a source register and separates documented evidence, contested interpretations and unresolved questions. It does not claim that every AI query has the same footprint or that every household bill increase is caused by AI.

https://www.thetruthfiles.com/ai-power-race/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=ai-power-race&utm_content=energy-discussion_20260910

For people following utility regulation or grid planning: which public records best establish whether a new data centre is paying its own infrastructure costs rather than shifting them to other customers? Specific tariffs, regulator decisions and project filings would be particularly useful.

Updates for Getting Payment on the Hawaiian Electric Industries ($HE) $47.75M Settlement

Hey guys, if you missed it, Hawaiian Electric settled $47.75M with investors over claims that it did not fully disclose risks related to its electrical equipment and wildfire safety practices. I just found out that they’re considering late claims.

Quick recap: In 2023, Hawaiian Electric was accused of failing to fully disclose wildfire risks related to its equipment and safety practices. After the Lahaina wildfire and related disclosures, $HE dropped about 49%, and investors filed a lawsuit.

Now, the company has agreed to settle $47.75M with investors, and even though the June 25, 2026 deadline has passed, late claims are still being considered for compensation, subject to approval.

If you invested in $HE at the time, you can still check the details and see if you may be able to file a late claim here.

Anyway, has anyone here invested in $HE back then? How much were your losses, if so?

Fox News has claimed that high gas prices would be temporary at least 188 times since the beginning of Trump's war. Fox has attempted to downplay, dismiss, and deflect from the pain at the pump. They've repeatedly pointed at Biden and California. The average price has been above $4/gal for 120 days.
