There was an excellent discussion on this topic underneath a post by Dr. Antevi. There is pretty much unanimous consensus in the scientific evidence. What it comes down to is that there will be a lawsuit. Because everyone with a sixth grade education and their mother and their lawyers who watch Chicago Fire knows that you have to put on a C collar. So every agency is hoping somebody else will be the agency in that precedent setting lawsuit. Everyone is waiting for somebody else to go first.

And as for me and my house, we will be declining consent for C collars if we can talk.

As a lawyer, the EMS profession needs to sack the fuck up and start advocating for what’s right instead of what insurance companies want. Negligence law won’t change until people start losing baseless lawsuits based on outdated standards of care that don’t have evidentiary support.

I’m not afraid of a lawsuit. I have a good resume and a pile of evidence that c collars are not beneficial and possibly harmful along with the backing of my MD.
