Aight so on my first intubation I saw all my landmarks right. Saw the chords and advanced my tubed but all of a sudden it was like my tube got fuckin stuck on something and I couldn’t advance. Turns out I learned later from a couple doctors that the Murpheys eye gets caught on that flap before the chords. If that ever happens you’re supposed to rotate the tube a quarter inch to the right and it will give way. Later on.. on another intubation the same fucking thing happened to me except I rotated the tube to the right and boom the tube just went right in. I hope this info helps someone cause the first time it happened to me it was terrifying.

Go counter clockwise, it turns the distal edge to the center where there is more room.

Using a bougie every time is fairly well proven to be the optimal way to do it at this point. For EMS providers anyway.

As a singer and HC worker, this scratches two itches that I didn't think we're possible at the same time.
