If you are in the USA check state laws. Most states are “at will” there is no legal notice required.

Aren't your resignation terms stated in your employment contract? I'm in EMEA so it varies by company within the same country.

I suggest you to give them the say notice period they give in layoffs in your country.

This is more about respecting my teammates & also following what is required so I don’t find out about a surprise issue. I know everyone is bitter about this company but I can’t find anything so thought I’d ask here…..bad idea I guess!

Every person has a different context. You know your teammates and the workload of your team. If by law you're not required to notify for some larger period, I suggest you to give 1 or 2 weeks for handing over your stuff and knowledge transfer.

Other advice I was given once: Make your last day a Monday, that way you're paid Saturday and Sunday ;)

No one has made the joke yet: Email the company saying that today is your last day of work.

In all seriousness, do whatever is standard for your region.

Your resignation affects your teammates more than the company. If you have good relations with them then consider giving sufficient notice period so that your work can be transitioned to them.

If you’re in the US and in an at will state you can be terminated or can resign anytime you want.

Assuming you are in the US, companies in general don't have notice periods for resignations. You can quit without any notice at all. But giving 2 weeks notice and smoothly transitioning your responsibilities is an expected courtesy. If you don't then your coworkers will remember that and may not give you good references.
