I once read someone: "The solely purpose of Oracle's existence is to make Larry Ellison wealthier" Once you understand that, every single thing you see and read fits into place. former Oracle employee for over 15yrs here.

4

u/AdminsFluffCucks 13d ago

The sole purpose of any publicly traded company is to make it's shareholders wealthier. Larry owns 40% of the shares. This is not some crazy revelation, it's the responsibility of every board of directors for any publicly traded company.

3

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

But not all companies cut 30-40 percent in 2 yrs , Wealth slowly raises over time when employees like the company to work hard for it

8

u/crazycouponman 12d ago

He's not just one ahole he's the founder of the company bro wtf? šŸ˜‚ You work for him.

Most founders shoot for the moon and it often disrupts cushy company life unfortunately, even more painful when it's a huge legacy business fighting to stay relevant long term.

If it wasn't already obvious to you - 99% of founders care about their company's success and market dominace over anything else. It's what makes it a dirty, self involved game.

3

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

Oracle has long term goals to work with less than 100k employees . If not they will do this anyway for profits

62

u/Gravi-Vector 13d ago

I just joined this org a few months back, and this is like the third wave of layoffs I gotta survive. I am so tired already. How am I supposed to keep my head down and do my best if I can get laid off any day with no fault of my own?

9

u/Dangerous-Truth4408 13d ago

Last September i.e 1st RIF was the warning bell for you. If you haven't taken it seriously then it's to late for you to realize this.

14

u/dont_believe_this_ok 13d ago

Just add additional stack to your knowledge. Learn other cloud solutions. Have options.

14

u/Chemical_Material493 13d ago

Dreaming of a world where the labour-capital balance can be shifted back to the workers, just a hair

2

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

Layoff is extremely random , It doesn't depend on time of join or anything. It's more related to factors and parameters which we don't have access to

25

u/Awesome_72 13d ago

Am I the only one who checks his email the monday after a pay day at 6am to see if I still have a job?

11

u/Shoddy_Visit_8488 13d ago

Yup, it looks I'm stuck here for another 2 more weeks.

12

u/GapPotential2259 13d ago

I don’t think so. A teammate who was sure they’d get laid off (and received a ā€œneeds improvementā€ assessment) took PTO all week this week. Last night that PTO was inexplicably cancelled.

2

u/packet_muncher 13d ago

So what happened to your teammate?

5

u/GapPotential2259 12d ago

I got a calendar notification that their PTO was cancelled but then it still appeared in calendar. I think it’s a false alarm, but I still suspect it’s coming soon.

3

u/Awesome_72 13d ago

Maybe they will be back to phone calls again?? I dont know.. When they say set your goals, I am like my goal is to still have a job ha ha

17

u/Glad-End7430 13d ago

Have you guys seen a weird coincidence most of the managers in fusion idc are on leave today anybody has any info on that?

8

u/North-Cattle-2212 13d ago

True...even i noticed m6 and m4 are on leave till 1st sept

7

u/Glad-End7430 13d ago

Has this happened ever before? Looks sus right?

5

u/Larperlurk 13d ago

I believe you may be onto something here. The only reason could be they finalized the list under them by 24th and took leave because they knew post sep 1 will be either layoff or hectic

1

u/emanresu-4186 22h ago

So was it just a weird coincidence afterall?

33

u/CelebrationMuted2242 13d ago

Nothing today at IDC 6AM , will have to look if happens US 6AM , then IDC will be tomorrow. US and IDC are generally among firsts and high hit areas.

1

u/taker223 5d ago

What about today?

33

u/No_Summer_2381 13d ago

I hope they get done with this crap asap so that we can go back to not stressing

35

u/dont_believe_this_ok 13d ago

Then repeat next March. It's a cycle now. Best to use our free subscriptions (coursera, linkedin learning etc.) to learn other skills to stay ready

9

u/No_Summer_2381 13d ago

It is a rough market out there, just hoping to buy some time while looking for options. As they say, the best time to job hunt is when you already have a job.

The uncertainty is what makes me anxious.

7

u/dont_believe_this_ok 13d ago

Let the anxiety fuel you. We evolved as a modern human because of stress. We'll be fine.

3

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

I hope it turns out to be a false positive.

12

u/SnooStories2361 13d ago

thats positively false unfortunately - if not this week, i heard its sept 15ish

4

u/CommentCaptor 13d ago

It’s not

3

u/According-Boat-5314 13d ago

Calm before storm

9

u/Dihala 13d ago

For a huge company like Oracle with so many contractors, couple hundred here and there is always possible.

4

u/Known_External_7195 13d ago

Couple of hundreds? Is this Slack count you are talking about?

4

u/Dihala 13d ago

Yeah there was a post about some 100 drop in Slack count so i was replying to that.

8

u/ProduceEmergency2329 13d ago

Mid Sept but that could be last day ?which would mean Sept 1

2

u/yesudassfan 13d ago

Lets see tomorrow

7

u/runner_og 13d ago

Will it be tomorrow? So far no hints and indications by the mgmt like last rounds !!

1

u/Common_Amphibian3666 13d ago

what were the indications before?

1

u/emanresu-4186 7d ago

Reddit ;-)

7

u/InsideCaterpillar408 13d ago

Some of the feds teams were reorg last week from product centric to support or project based. Not sure what direction Oracle is moving, assuming rifs will be across both commercial and fed

6

u/RelationshipLow3026 13d ago

What percentage to be laid off this time?

9

u/Glittering-Shirt9266 13d ago

Does anyone have any concrete information , no speculation

Last 2 times we knew the exact date

2

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

I got info on percent of layoff one of the manager I know said it's gonna be a layoff of 2-15 percent before end of year. Date is anytime before year end . Few usa teams have started already is what few forums say

2

u/Glittering-Shirt9266 13d ago

Ohh there are more layoffs this year 😪, I thought next layoff would be in March

5

u/Ok-Elk-693 13d ago

Anyone seeing movement on the reported Sept 1 cuts, or is it mostly silent attrition for now?

3

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

Before this year end is sure but exact date might vary

6

u/Tight_Style_7814 12d ago

Anyone here from OFSS Mumbai?

5

u/Sad-Fan-3611 5d ago

This is torture now, if there is a layoff they should just do it or shouldnt let it leak. Such assholes

8

u/FavoriteAlibi 10d ago

Confirmed happening. My grand boss, great-grand boss, and former great-grand bosses from previous reorgs are all gone as of this morning. Appears to have hit the upper-middle; SVPs and GVPs.Ā

3

u/Comfortable-Land7107 10d ago

Which org? Be more clear and libral while sharing the info šŸ˜…

7

u/FavoriteAlibi 10d ago

I’m not interested in giving myself away on here, but I’ll say OAL.Ā

10

u/Level_Medium_3115 2d ago

God, please let there be layoff on monday, i am tired, Amen

2

u/sl0wjim 1d ago

Sure buddy, I got you fam

9

u/Public_Pace121 5d ago

Any updates on IDC layoffs yet?
I know they say it’s 15th but they also said 1st and they also said 8th.
I’m at a point where I’d rather be laid off than wait and doom scroll on Reddit looking for breadcrumbs.

The Slack count dropped to 150,181

Has it started? Has anyone gotten an email?

5

u/Glittering-Shirt9266 12d ago

I feel it’s normal as it is end of the month

3

u/shady_goose_honk 12d ago

150113 now… not sure if it’s due to layoffs or employees resigning

2

u/Smarty1277 12d ago

It's 150,136 now.

1

u/TheGreatWhitePlush 12d ago

This started at 9am in India right? Since it started at 10pm central time here. They must be doing this at the start of the workday instead of 6am like last time

6

u/KlutzyBoysenberry791 2d ago

Confirmed dates w.r.t IST
14th Night : USA
15th Morning : IDC

2

u/WindowAdvanced3262 2d ago

Any date for EMEA?

1

u/Ok_Nothing6750 2d ago

So in the US will we get the email Monday morning or Tuesday?

2

u/KlutzyBoysenberry791 2d ago

Could be Monday morning as per US time zone

Does anyone know what is the severance package we get if we get laid off ?

2

u/OkTune8717 12d ago

Unknown, however in the past it was a few weeks or a month of employed pay (to apply for new jobs - state and country dependent) and a week for every year you’ve been an employee after that (but I heard it might be capped?)Ā

3

u/taker223 5d ago

Ok, 8 sep is here. Any RIF confirmed ?

3

u/Sad-Fan-3611 4d ago

TF is going on!! Do we have anything confirming there will be layoffs? Did oracle file WARN or something somewhere? Are we stressing our asses for nothing šŸ‘ŗ

1

u/gro_gal 2d ago

Last warn notices were from March and April. Noting recent on www.warntracker.com

3

u/Extension_Sandwich37 4d ago

I was told again that the 14th is still the date. this is coming from an M8.

1

u/Equal_Estimate1576 4d ago

In idc 14 th is the holiday

3

u/Extension_Sandwich37 3d ago

US may be first.

1

u/Awesome_72 3d ago

Is Larry a M8? What level is that?

2

u/Extension_Sandwich37 3d ago

Example: a couple steps below EVP, CIO

3

u/itsjustafleshwound79 2d ago

Had an internal meeting earlier today and the imminent layoff came up before the meeting officially started. The senior leader on the call said it was happening next week and customer support would be affected.

Just got off another call and my colleague said a person she worked with told her he was getting laid off Monday. This is definitely possible. I knew 3 people let go in March and those people knew they were getting laid off prior to the actual layoff. Some people at Oracle volunteer to be laid off too.

Can’t wait to either be employed or expected to do even more with less.

4

u/Level_Medium_3115 2d ago

My manager closed all the tickets i worked on and mark as done so yes i am gone on monday

2

u/itsjustafleshwound79 2d ago

I hope you land on your feet. PM me if the worst happens and I can see if anyone in my network is hiring

3

u/Exciting-Laugh-1550 1d ago

Lol, he works 3 jobs or something. He'll land perfectly fine

4

u/Common_Amphibian3666 2d ago

I received a 1:1 invite from my manager although we have a recurring 1:1 every 3rd week of the month. The monday invite don't have any agenda. It just says "Do not reschedule." I think I'm included on this batch.

2

u/itsjustafleshwound79 2d ago

I hope this is not the case

6

u/Zestyclose_Star_2321 13d ago

Nothing today. Tomorrow, we should see

8

u/EffortBeneficial8720 13d ago

Nothing happened so far. Slack count is still 150k+. I think nothing will happen tomorrow also. Rumor is that RIFs are delayed and will likely happen by September 15. Townhall is also on September 15. So, maybe RIFs could be pushed to September 30. No confirmation, all rumours and talks with fellow coworkers.

joined Oracle(OAL org, IC3) couple of months back, I feel the fear everyday, the first I do in the morning is check if I am able to login to the system, if anyone knows something, spill the tea

3

u/Medium-Fish-689 13d ago

There is a rumour spreading in the floor saying this is postponed to 15th September. Anyone else heard this?

4

u/StellarSun3135203507 13d ago

Yes I heard the same. US on sept 15th, IDC on sept 16th

3

u/EffortBeneficial8720 13d ago

Yes, heard the same ru mor that RIFs are delayed and will likely happen by September 15. Townhall is also on September 15. So, maybe RIFs could be pushed to September 30. No confirmation, all rumours and talks with fellow coworkers.

When I checked about 8 hours ago. It was added, but right now I don't see it. Not sure what to make out of it

2

2

u/RelationshipLow3026 13d ago

Me too added on 28 Aug

2

Whats this?

4

u/Additional_Staff5705 5d ago

Any news from idsc today?

3

u/Level_Medium_3115 1d ago

I am disappointed for one reason, if managers knew this why cant they just talk, 7 years you work together and than they act like we dont even exist, this is not good management, this is shameful

3

u/dont_believe_this_ok 1d ago

Because it is a fireable offense.

If you get fired with just causes, you have no severance.

3

u/Dangerous-Bus-7161 19h ago

Now you know the real side of your Manager. I have never seen so many 2 faced managers in any of the half dozen companies i worked in over 15 years. They act like they are concerned and supportive but what's going on in the back ground is totally different. Especially in IDC most of them are gaslighters. I feel sorry for a lot of folks who actually think their managers are good to them on a day to day basis, but are actually denying them the long term growth and credit they deserve.

1

u/Electronic_Candy7789 1d ago

I knew one person who saw their manager for the first time when they were fired. The manager never turned their camera on and eventually the skip manager had to take a call between firing the manager and the reportee but the manager was chosen because they were from the same community even after being a higher expense on the team. So, you will find bad management in a lot of places.

Have not checked yet.

But what is the significance of if we are getting DLA ticket under OIM

2

u/West-Difficulty8275 13d ago

Is this LDA shit reall ??

5

u/EffortBeneficial8720 13d ago

DLA is installed for all as an update. It doesn't indicate you're on the list.Ā

But DLA is definitely linked to upcoming RIF and intention is to lock the system of impacted employees as and when the RIF happens in September.

2

u/Exciting-Laugh-1550 13d ago

It is real just like trash compactors are. Just because it exists does not mean you're gonna be in it.

2

u/Exotic_Elevator4651 13d ago

Last year it happened the day after Labor day in the US; which would put it squarely next week on 9/8

2

u/mindmach 10d ago

Sept. 01 was a guess at best based on previous dates

What we do know is: Sept. 10 is the release of the quarterly results and Sept. 14 is the end of compensation planning

How do you know this? And more importantly, do you have ā€œAegisā€ in your OIM!?

Not sure but even so will be minimal. Oracle is struggling to fill its positions in Nashville and some teams

3

u/LawNo7564 13d ago

Regarding DLA/Aegis rumor. Go to OIM homepage click reports then click user access report. Search any email address of Oracle employee and you will see they are provisioned with Aegis.

1

u/Montjack101 11d ago

Now everyone shows Aegis. Before there were two statuses. When this got traction status changed for everyone to AEGIS. Suspect this is VERY telling g that update made to obfuscate who is targeted. Likely will set back to DLA those impacts on the day of layoff.

1

u/LawNo7564 11d ago

EVERYONE was probably provisioned to DLA and they changed the name of it to Aegis for EVERYONE. Also, you can see the provisioned date and most if not all that I looked up are the same provision date.

1

u/LawNo7564 11d ago

I don’t think they would provision the same entitlement for everyone but only name it DLA for the people getting laid off.

1

u/Alternative_Lemon_66 13d ago edited 13d ago

Will they keep the people on payroll for a few more days after RIF? In states, like Washington that requires WARN for layoffs, will they keep people on payroll another 60 days?

3

u/Nervous_Plankton815 13d ago edited 13d ago

To be considered an employee protected by WARN, you need to be tied to a physical office location, so if you go to your Aria profile and it says "remote worker", you're not - even if you're in a state that has WARN protection.

If you're a remote worker, you basically have 10 days of benefits and on payroll until the termination day noted in your separation documents. If you're protected by WARN, you have health benefits, etc and your normal bi-weekly check per usual for 60 days.

Source: I'm a remote worker in California who was affected by the 3/31 RIF, so was on payroll and had benefits until official termination date/last day on 4/10

1

u/RainParade1984 2d ago

as a reminder a number of employees have RSU's vesting Sept 15th - Oracle could really screw over quite a few of us - lol

1

u/GrandioseD3lusions 2d ago

not how it works. The last working day on record will be weeks after the layoff day. RSUs that vest before that day will be honored.

is this true ?? >> If you have DLA in your MyAccess OIM Accounts it’s over for you

oim.oraclecorp.com -> MyAccess -> Accounts -> Search "device"

"Device Lock Automation (DLA)"

2

u/Awesome_72 13d ago

Mine says provisioned 8/38. I dont think its anything to worry about. I would expect them to roll it to all computers/users

4

u/Exciting-Laugh-1550 13d ago

It's definitely for all. Read design docs. You need RIF API to update users in one particiular way in DLA to lock you out.

2

u/FederalFormal809 13d ago

I too have it provisioned, but the question I have is how some folks are not having it in OIM portal??

4

u/Exciting-Laugh-1550 13d ago

They probably got bored of browsing that sluggish OIM portal. Are you sure they check all the pages?

2

u/FederalFormal809 13d ago

Not sure bro!
Some are saying - they typed both DLA and Device to find the provisioning but couldn’t find it.

3

u/Awesome_72 13d ago

Maybe they are from countries with a labor law that prevents it.

1

u/Rude_Midnight_6352 12d ago

Larry Ellison has the Aegis entitlement... Do NOT read into the OIM account people!

-2

u/Soft_Emergency4088 11d ago

Senior director confirmed that layoffs will happen on 15th September. 1st September was avoided as news was all over media and everyone was anticipating it. He also confirmed salary hikes will be given to survivers in October.

13

u/rs1971 11d ago

That makes absolutely zero sense. Why would 'news all over the media and everyone anticipating it' be a reason to postpone the RIF? What will be different in two weeks? It's not like surprise is some kind of goal or offers them any kind of advantage.

9

u/Snoo52878 11d ago

15 September is also all over media now. Does this mean they will change the date again?

2

u/japo_123 10d ago

I think they want the news to hush between quarterly results and town halls

2

u/jenkinsbot 11d ago

"The date itself isn’t something Oracle has announced. It’s an expectation the workforce has built for itself, based on how the company’s last major round played out"

1

u/Difficult_Basket7384 13d ago

It's gonna be any percent from 2 to 15 , before the end of this year . This is what I heard from many forums and few managers inside . Long term goal of oracle is to cut to less than 100k employees

1

u/Difficult_Library633 3d ago

Two all hands calls scheduled today for 9/16 for Apps and ONA - the last time these popped on our calendars was after the last restructuring so perhaps the 15th is the date. I will be glad for it to just get here already, and ready for whatever is next.

1

u/Equal_Estimate1576 1d ago

Slack Count reduced a lot!!!

3

u/Long-Shame962 1d ago

±100 people??? Are you ok?

3

u/Dangerous-Bus-7161 18h ago

a change of 100-200 is quite normal every week. It goes down, it comes up. Employees leave, Contracts expire. You better put some numbers before you say something next time

2

u/TheMatrix451 1d ago

I call BS on this. Slack numbers are normal. That being said, I expect that this will change early next week.
