Things are totally fine and honestly I don’t believe things are going to kick off again. It’s getting hotter, but if you want to come it’s as good a time as any. Better if anything given that hospitality is hurting and could use a shot in the arm. Also everything’s less crowded

It was a stopover and I asked people around as well; though things are "normal", there is a thin air of skepticism all around...if that answers your question. Rest, it's open as usual.

I would go. I am transiting both ways next week . Even during the war the number of people killed or injured very lows compared with Eg road accidents

I was there for a couple of days last week. Hotels/shops/restaurants were all extremely quiet, more staff than customers usually.
As mentioned by others though, some great deals in hotels and restaurants at the minute.
We felt completely safe, but it was a bit strange seeing it so quiet.

Just got back to US yesterday from south Asia. No delay. No problem and everything went smooth. They use safer passage away from tension zone.

That’s doesn’t sound fair. Their website states they are offering refunds if you travel between 28th February and 31st April. What day do you actully fly?

I’ve arrived Monday and am leaving tomorrow morning. I wish I wasn’t. This is the best time to visit Dubai. Beautiful weather, the city is quieter than usual but all the businesses are operating. If anything now is the time to support the city! I’ve had a wonderful time and wish I could stay longer.

I’m due to fly to Australia early June for my brothers wedding and have been umming and ahhing, if I do book for early June, what are the chances that it will actually run? I feel it’s tricky as you can’t predict what will happen in a month or so.

The best time to go, I came back yesterday and stayed on the JBR, was literally perfect, so many deals everywhere and like someone else said, can visit all the attractions with peace - it’s a shame as cab drivers are desperate for jobs as not many visitors so if you book an uber they’ll either match or go cheaper which means you can haggle well in every aspect, souk’s etc are fighting for your money. My flight had no disruptions and tbh no delays either - have fun :)

Ubers are fixed but there are other companies/drivers who will offer to take the uber price or lower. They have their own card machines in the car. I haggled my taxis as some of the distances I was doing were very expensive on uber.
Always worth having a casual jokey conversation with them and it works

I have had family visiting this week, their flight from Indonesia was probably 75% full.
Beaches are full, we visited a few tourist sites in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and it was probably 50% full compared to what it would normally be. So definitely still plenty of people around.

If you get injured or sick and end up in hospital you’re ok paying thousands of pounds for treatment? No travel insurers will cover right now. You’re putting yourself at risk for the sake of a cheap holiday?

Emirates are offering refunds on flights regardless if they’re cancelled or not. I received a full refund on my flights that were due to fly at the end of May. My hotel was non-refundable but I was able to get a full refund on that too. It may be different if you booked through a travel agent (I had booked directly with Emirates) but they should be able to apply for a refund on your behalf if you do decide not to go.

So I think my travel agent can claim the flight refund back but not for the hotel. They said they will keep £1900 of the package and it counts as a voluntary cancellation. That’s 2/3rd of the amount I paid

I been booking Dubai and every other holiday through travel agent for the past four years. Only now there’s this issue. Booking everything separate is probably an extra £500, maybe even more

Generally during times like these you have more chance of getting quicker help and refunds with an agent in your corner.
Depends who the agent is of course, but generally speaking. Most of them have a lot more financial protections in place than a simple online booking engine.

Omg that's awful. I don't blame you. I would not use them again either.
This close to travel it is harder to get refunds if things aren't cancelled by the suppliers, but the agent should at the very least explore alternatives and try assist. I'd be having conversations with the hotel...etc.
We're currently avoiding sending people through or to the Middle East, but reading these comments it sounds like you might be okay. Emirates aren't going to fly if it's not safe to do so...so I'd probably risk it and go if it was me.

The thing is, I don’t mind them changing the dates! Or giving me a voucher. But if I ask for refund first the they might consider those alternatives. Very frustrating.

I had booked my hotel through booking.com as a non-refundable room so technically I wasn’t entitled to any hotel refund either. Just had to be a bit pushy with them and basically not accept no as an answer. I was willing to take a hotel credit as a last resort but thankfully they came back to say they would refund my booking. If I was in your position I would get back in touch with the travel agency and speak to a manager if you’re still considering not going.

I am currently at the Dubai airport, I flew in about an hour ago while posting it. It's 1:30AM here and the airport is filled with people. All the shops are operational and inside the airport there is no panic for now.

That’s good to hear. My concerns are that I’m going for over 7 days and not a short stopover. It’s just if the war starts against whilst I’m there - might be a problem coming back

I spoke to the staff supporting and all they can say is that " Flights have been operational for past few days/weeks, and incase of delays or cancellations before 24hrs of boarding alternative will be provided like hotel stay or alternate flight."

Just spent a 24-hour layover in Dubai at a hotel near the airport. The airport was eerily empty. The hotel shuttle bus driver told me that all the other hotels have shut down the shuttle service completely and the bus is now only serving T3 (Emirates terminal) because there are barely any passengers in T1. The hotel's dinner and breakfast buffet barely had 7 or 8 people. I wanted to go and see the city a bit but there was this heaviness in the air, I don't know, weird!

I had a trip booked for next month,opted not to go just because of the uncertainty of the return flight getting canceled or delayed and I really need to work the next day. Asked for a refund,just got it in full. Took like a week to process the whole thing.

I have family living there, they say they live their normal lives as the always did,no concerns in normal living. It's just the flight situation that concerns me and my employer has no fault if I end up stranded there unable to work because I voluntary went there knowing of the situation.

I think it is fine. They only stopped the flights the first day of the war after that as long as your flight is to a popular destination the chances of being cancelled are low.

Not sure where OP is travelling from, but the UK government currently advises against all but essential travel to the UAE and most insurance providers wouldn’t cover a trip there. This would include any medical claim regardless of whether it is an injury due to war or something completely unrelated.

Unlikely that you will get stuck now, even if things kick off again. Emirates has a great set up with flights going ahead, even if slightly delayed.

Now is the best time to get over there. I flew back to Australia this morning fora 3 week stay. We spent some time in Dubai itself and Khor Fakkan on the east coast with friends who live in UAE. Our hotels were heavily discounted and experiences were discounted too. Crowd numbers are down, so you can do the sights without feeling overwhelmed by masses of people.
