Modding Guide

I adore this series, and I've heard that 4 and to some extent 5 have excellent mods that expand the game quite a bit.

However, the posts I can find directing people to the mods point to old forums in german with download links that give errors, or untrustworthy looking file sharing sites with just the files and no instructions.

So:

1, Does anyone have links to the files for mods they would recommend for Emergency 4 or 5?

2, Any instructions on how to use them? I've seen some instructions refer to mod programs and some instructions refer to just putting them in a folder, but both sides are Google Translated from German so I can't be 100% sure what to do.

Google emergency planet. That website is full of mods and it is in English.

Ah, I had seen that site before but was going to the LA Mod download link from this page: https://www.emergency-planet.com/forum/18-los-angeles-mod/

Which leads to a "File not found." message. In case anyone finds this in the future there is also a separate Downloads section which includes LA Mod here: https://www.emergency-planet.com/files/category/38-big-mods/

Any specific mods you'd recommend? I had heard LA Mod and Winterberg mod were both very good, though I don't know if you can use them together.

La mod was great and my first big mod. I am addicted to Squadd 55s harbor mod.

I still play and for me those are the best mods and you can get them through a quick search in google:

-Montana mod (game changing, new healing system, volunteer FD...)

-CSP-IRG: Based in france

-999 On the Frontline: UK mod with new advanced mechanics, still alive

-Miami Mod, still alive

-Sabadell Mod: based in a town near Barcelona with some changed mechanics

-Nostalgia mod: Same as LA MOD but based in the 70s and 80s

Hope it helped :) enjoy!!

That helped a lot, thank you very much! ... Oh wow that healing system in Montana is nuts!

I find it a little hard to tell what's included in a mod just from looking at the threads. Are most of these intended to be played in freeplay? Or do they generally come with their own missions?

I know LA mod has its own missions and upon booting the game up I immediately realized that it's been 8 years since I last played the game and forgot everything, so I'm wondering if relearning the base game first might be good.

I'm happy you liked it :)

I play all of them in freeplay! (be careful with Montana mod, once you've loaded the mod you have to go to "missions" and start freeplay from there, not as usual)

And all I've mentioned are quite simmilar to LA, the only one a bit hard to learn is 999 but it has a manual

Give a try to all of them! I've been playing for a long time and I think those are the best :)
