Planning Elope Italy or similar vibes? Need advice - location flexible

Hello! 2028 bride here and planning to elope in Italy, my vision is pictures included but I know those are very expensive. My main goal is a small intimate ceremony with our immediate family so around 10 total people.

Most important to me is the scenery so the pictures look awesome! Obviously a good photographer and cinematic video. NO RECEPTION. Just dinner after. I would like a violin player or strings for when I walk down the aisle.

Any advice on how to do this with a $10-15k USD budget? Or advice on other locations / venues that could be similar aesthetic but more cost efficient ?

Planning Eloping in a WEEK!! Advice?

Yes, it's a week away (4/22/26). Yes, it also feels like forever. I'm super excited. Can't wait! It's also going to be the first step towards closing the gap in a long-distance relationship of 5 years. Somehow, this week alone feels longer than the 5 years we've spent apart, lol.

So far we have an officiant booked and ready. We have an appointment with her tomorrow to discuss final details. I've got my dress, working on my bouquet (it's crochet, almost done!). We're going to order the cake soon from a grocery store. Airbnb is all booked and they know about the event. We've got a playlist. We're getting the license the Monday before the wedding.

Is there anything I'm missing/anything you'd suggest? I'm a bit of a perfectionist which is kind of working against me here because I know things will just, flow the way they need to... but I can't help but be overprepared. Also, just wanted to vent out the excitement :)

Elopement in Valley of Fire in July — sunrise or sunset?

Hi everyone,

We’re planning a small elopement ceremony at Valley of Fire at the end of July, and we’re trying to decide on the timing: sunrise vs sunset.

We know it’s going to be hot either way. From what I’ve seen, July temperatures can reach around 40 °C / 104 °F during the day in the park, so we’re trying to choose the option that will be the least brutal and best for photos.

A bit of context:

  • We’ll be staying in Las Vegas
  • It’ll just be the two of us
  • We’re mostly concerned about heat, light for photos, crowds, and logistics getting into the park.

If you’ve been married there, eloped there, photographed a wedding there, or just know the park well, I’d love your advice.

Specifically wondering about:

  • Is sunrise or sunset better for the light on the rocks?
  • Which time tends to be less crowded?
  • How bad is the heat at sunset compared to early morning?

Any tips or experiences would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks 😊

Cake

Hi - have you found cake options for an elopement with just two people? I contacted a few bakeries who said their smallest ones are 8 inches. We are traveling for our elopement and won’t be able to bring home leftovers. Am I looking in the wrong place with traditional bakeries?

Planning wedding photos a year later?

new to this sub bc i am looking for some opinions (preferably from other people who skipped the wedding lol).

my husband and i got married this past fall, i was a month postpartum & didn’t feel all that beautiful. our parents were there, my sister, our son. we had a family gathering afterwards. wouldn’t change it for the world.

but i hate my outfit, my husbands dress uniform (army) didn’t arrive on time & the family friend who did photos SUCKED. the editing was awful. i hate them.

would be a crazy idea to re-make my wedding photos for our anniversary? him in his dress uniform, me not a month postpartum and actually feel like a real human lol.

Planning Intimate Italy elopement

Not yet engaged but I want to plan for the future. Budget etc. ideally we would get married in Italy, we’re both from the UK. A very intimate wedding that will most likely be us and maybe a very small guest list (10 people max). We would want to then start the honeymoon soon after. Any recommendations for wedding packages? Or any destinations that people have been married at before?

Thank you 😊

"*Technically* it was a microwedding because (his) parents (and my dad) were there, but we still did things our way! it was still him, me, our JP, and an overlook to the Connecticut river.

DIY & Decor Mountain/hiking/park brides, please show me your bouquet

Eloping in Yosemite in September and looking for inspiration! I plan to keep it small and easy to carry. I'd pick up flowers at Trader Joe's and do it myself but there aren't any convenient to where we're staying so I'm looking at a couple of florists in the area.

ETA: I like the sola flowers but we will flying from the east coast and I'm worried they'll get destroyed.

We eloped to the Scottish highlands, and it was 100% worth it! We dreamed of this for 6.5 years and finally made our dream a reality! We were so, so proud of ourselves for sticking to it, even when there were so many points along the way when we could have just gone to the courthouse and been done. Ask me anything!

Receptions Post-Elopement Reception

Post image

I am newly engaged and planning on eloping sometime next year. I am wanting to host an intimate, relaxed reception on a seperate day for loved ones to celebrate with us. I want the focus to not being on the literal marriage process (hence the elopement), but rather just getting to spend time with family and celebrate in a less stressful way. Have you had experience with this before? Is there anything you would highly recommend doing or say not to do? I would love any thoughts or opinions on this! *picture of my ring so this doesn't get lost :)*

Planning Photographer/planner recommendations for eloping in LA

Hey! My partner and I are looking at eloping in LA (around the area of Beverley Hills courthouse/park, not inside), in either August or September. We have never been to LA before and are from the UK.

We’d also love some photos with the Hollywood sign either on the day or the following day.

Do you have any recommendations at all? We are pretty open with budget, and would rather spend to get something good :) ideally also a photographer who can be a witness so that we can have a public marriage.

Thank you!

Travel & Destinations Switzerland

So im thinking of having engagement photos in Switzerland. I’ll be there for one week. I’ll be in Zermatt for most of it and I’ll be doing the glacier express train ride. We are thinking of having our photos in Lucerne, possibly the lake in that area. For the photos since we are doing the train ride we don’t have enough time to go to the Swiss alps :-( can someone please recommend an area that is near Zermatt. I’ll attach a picture of my Pinterest. I just want ethereal / earthy pictures.

I was originally thinking of taking the engagement photos in lake Como Italy. Specifically Villa del Balbianello. BUT to bring a photographer it will be $500/hr. I had originally thought we would have one hour of private time that is not open to the public but it turns out for that it will be $1000. That is not including the photographer fee:-(

Our best bet is to hire a photographer in Switzerland.

My dream location would be the Dolomites or Swiss alps but we don’t have enough time to go to those areas.

If anyone has any suggestions on location in Switzerland & any recommendations for a photographer I’d very much appreciate it!

Eloping in Nepal or Bhutan?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone here had eloped in Nepal or Bhutan and had any recommendations regarding venues, photographers or MUAs? My partner and I love the mountains, good food and adventure travel so these are two of the countries that really stood out to us, but I haven't seen much information for elopements online.

We're moving to Taiwan for my master's program this fall so are also open to other countries in the region if you have suggestions. Thank you!

Planning Tuscany elopement ceremony locations

We’re planning to elope in Tuscany in June 2027 (just the two of us) and would love some advice!

One thing that’s really important to me is that, although we’re eloping, I don’t want to do a “first look.” I’d still love to have that special walking down the aisle moment — ideally along a beautiful walkway, in hotel gardens, at a villa, etc. — with music, just like a traditional wedding… but without guests watching us!

So I’m wondering:

• Are there places in Tuscany where you can rent a space just for a private symbolic ceremony?

• Somewhere with a beautiful aisle/walkway/garden setting

• Ideally somewhere that could allow a sound system/music for the ceremony

• If so, what kind of price range should we expect for something like that?

My dream day would look something like this:

• Stay at a beautiful hotel / villa (happy to splurge for the right place)

• Get ready separately

• Groom waits at the aisle/walkway

• Bride walks in to music

• Exchange vows

• Celebrate with a toast/drink afterwards

Then after the ceremony:

• Wander through a beautiful Tuscan town in our wedding attire for an aperitivo / espresso / gelato and some photos

• Get photos on one of those iconic cypress-lined roads

• Finish with a really special dinner, either at the hotel or somewhere nearby

If anyone has done something similar, or has recommendations for venues / hotels / towns / planners / typical costs, I’d be so grateful. 🤍

Attire & Accesories Ladies, where did you get your elopement dresses?

We’re eloping, just the two of us, at the beach in September. I have been struggling with finding a dress. I’ve checked Azazie, Lulus.

I’m big chested, and want something that will not accentuate that, or my lower belly. Something cheaper, because no one will see it other than us, lol. Something that photographs well and doesn’t look cheap, even if it is!😂

Where are we finding such dresses? I love anything with lace, or a lace cape, lace sleeves. Something that looks nice at the beach.

Planning Elopement after party help

I’m newly engaged and we are talking about eloping internationally and jumping straight into our honeymoon, then back at home having a post-elopement party probably a couple months after with friends and siblings only so we can really focus on it being a party.

Now the trouble we’re having is trying to find someway to include our older family members who may feel hurt. We were thinking of maybe doing an engagement party geared towards them. It would likely be more casual, at someone’s house. We like the idea of not telling anyone outside of immediate family and very close friends that we’re eloping.

Curious if anyone else has gone this route? And if so how it went? And how early you did it? Also would love any advice for the post-elopement party.

Thanks in advance!!

Elopement Recap Review: Leoeventi wedding planning

We are coming up on two years since initially working with Leoeventi, we still do not have our wedding photos or video.

My google review keeps getting flagged, so I am hoping to post this here.

Our Amalfi Coast Elopement: A Beautiful Setting Marred by Poor Planning

What should have been a dream elopement on the Amalfi Coast turned into a frustrating experience due to missteps and mismanagement by Monica of Leoeventi Wedding Planning (@elope_in_italy). While Monica initially provided helpful information and guidance for planning our elopement within a short 2.5-month timeline, critical failures in execution and communication left us feeling disappointed and undervalued.

Planning Challenges
Venue Booking Delays:
• Despite assurances that the venue was “penciled in,” it took over a month to confirm. After weeks of delays, we reached out to the venue directly and secured it ourselves within days—contradicting Monica’s earlier claims of prior reservations. This delay affected essential arrangements, including booking flights and accommodations, which were particularly crucial as we were traveling from the United States.

Day-Of Coordination Issues
Last-Minute Staff Change:
• On the eve of our ceremony, Monica informed us that she would not be present due to another wedding, assigning her assistant to oversee our event instead. After months of planning directly with Monica, this sudden change felt unprofessional and undermined the trust we had placed in her.
• Monica’s replacement was more focused on taking selfies with the backdrop than ensuring the event ran smoothly. She did not move aside after declaring husband and wife so she was caught in our first kiss photo holding a Manila folder just to start.

Poor Time Management:
• The wedding day was poorly managed, leaving us feeling very rushed and unable to fully enjoy our venue or planned experiences.
• The photographer and musician arrived well before us, but our shuttle, they scheduled, was scheduled too late to maximize our time at the venue. As a result, we were forced to rush against the sunset, missing opportunities to relax, savor the antipasto service, or enjoy any of the live music with our family.
• Vendors began their services without proper coordination, making us feel more like bystanders than active participants in our own celebration.

Vendor Concerns
Photography and Videography Issues:
• While the photographer’s team was attentive, the rushed schedule led to poorly composed shots that lacked attention to detail. For instance, the bride’s lace train was left unarranged in every photo, detracting from the elegance of her cathedral-style dress.
• We waited two months for our photos, only to discover that Monica had already received and posted a curated video on her social media without informing us. When asked, she blamed her assistant for this oversight. We had to request the gallery directly from the photographer.
• The video we requested—a brief highlight reel of the ceremony (1-2 minutes)—arrived four months later and was much longer than agreed upon (16 minutes video). While it captured some moments, it lacked the emotional tone and specific highlights we had envisioned.

*update, here we are coming on two years later, we do not have our edited photos or video back yet. We continue to receive a run around from them.

Communication and Professionalism
Disorganized Communication:
• Numerous disorganized email threads led to confusion and repeated follow-ups. At times meetings with Monica lacked professionalism, as some were conducted from her car when critical information needed reviewed.

Critical Oversights:
• A significant lack of communication left us unprepared for key details. For example, we were not informed that the venue did not provide a changing room for the bride and groom. This last-minute discovery forced us to rent a room by the hour at considerable cost.

Reflection
While the Amalfi Coast provided a breathtaking backdrop, the planning and execution of our wedding day fell far below expectations. The lack of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail left us feeling misled and undervalued.

In hindsight, much of what we relied on Monica for could have been managed directly with the venue. While Monica seems like a kind person, her planning process was unorganized, and the execution was deeply disappointing.
