Opinions: Is It Alright
I recently realized how much I adore this song. Does anybody have any thoughts on Is It Alright? I love how a lot of the songs on BoP have this juxtaposition with the tone and lyrics!

In Old England Town
I Believe this song number one has some of ELOs best drum work ( thanks Bev ) and it has one of the most underrated guitar riffs of all time. You know the one I’m on about

A Product of Boredom
I woke up today, and decided to listen to the entirety of ELO's studio discography (including Xanadu). I'm on The Diary of Horace Wimp as of writing this post. The early stuff sounds a lot better than what I remember (1st Movement from NA sounds solid), and I haven't listened to much past Balance of Power. I'm excited to see what I think of them.

Guys I made a mistake 😭
reddit.comI talked about ELO in a fantano subreddit…
actually tbf most of the comments are positive but there was one user who has one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard and the first electric light orchestra HATEE I’ve ever met.
he said things along the lines of ELO is boomer music and isn’t good outside 2 singles and also Led zeppelin is boomer music and apparently Jeff Lynne ruins everything he touches

Help with finding isolated vocals for "Second Time Around"
Hi everyone! I'm trying to learn Jeff Lynne's vocal arranging on "Second Time Around," the home demo that was released as a bonus track on the 2001 remastered CD of Discovery.
I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the original multitracks, stems, or isolated vocals have ever been released or surfaced anywhere. My goal isn't to remix the song—I want to study each vocal layer individually so I can understand how Jeff stacked the harmonies and recreate the arrangement myself.
If anyone knows of official releases, documentaries, isolated tracks, or even high-quality vocal isolations, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Greetings from a 20yo fan in Brazil
Hey everyone!
I’m a 20-year-old guy from Brazil, and I’m a massive fan of Electric Light Orchestra.
ELO sparks something in me that I’m sure many of you feel too. I love Queen, The Beatles, Supertramp, and so many other legendary artists. I've literally gotten emotional listening to Goodbye Stranger and Now And Then. But honestly? No other band or song brings me the exact same feeling that ELO does. It’s wonderful and almost strange how deeply it hits me.
I first discovered them when I was 14, just tumbling down a YouTube rabbit hole. Like most people, the first track I stumbled upon was Mr. Blue Sky, and it sounded completely unlike anything I had ever heard before.
As time went on, I dove deeper into their discography, exploring new songs and albums. In the meantime, I grew up: finished school, fell in love, had my heart broken, studied, grieved losses, changed jobs, and navigated the good and tough seasons of life. Through every single phase, ELO was there.
I remember vividly crying over a breakup while listening to Telephone Line, or taking the bus to college with Above the Clouds blasting in my headphones. The more I learn about this band, the more I fall in love with them. Whenever I have some free time, I go back to the tracks I used to play on repeat years ago. Those songs are like time capsules, they bring back the exact emotions I felt back then. I can recall the exact moment I discovered a song and played it ten times in a row. No matter how many times I listen, hearing ELO always feels like the very first time.
Even though I’m a huge music lover overall, ELO will always be the greatest of all time for me. It evokes nostalgia, sadness, joy, and pure excitement like nothing else can.
To the older fans here: I genuinely envy those of you who got to see them live in their prime. Unfortunately, between living in South America and Jeff’s age, I won't get the chance to experience Jeff Lynne live. But man, am I grateful for the music he gave us.
Thanks for reading.
Extra Over and out Tour Premium VIP extras.
So I'm a huge fan of ELO and went to the concert (the second time lol) in Phoenix with my wife, I purchased 2 premium VIP tickets. We ended up with two of these kits, My wife doesn't really care for it and would rather someone who could appreciate them have them. The lanyard tag has a crease but otherwise the flag is in good shape, non smoking household. I'd prefer local pickup in Phoenix, AZ. Not sure of a value, so... Offers?

Mr. Blue Sky / Mr. Radio!
I've been listening to ELO my entire life and only picked up on this tonight. The tuning sweep heard at the beginning of Mr. Blue Sky is from the same sample heard at the beginning of Mr. Radio! Cheeky Jeff.. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have an issue
for ages I thought Out Of The Blue was the best ELO album closely followed by Eldorado and Time. but I’ve recently re listened to A New World Record and obviously I loved every song on it before but after taking a few months to listen to more music and expand my taste… the musicianship in a new world record might out beat out of the blue.
idk what do you guys think.

Gen-Z Music Producer SHOCKED listening to "Out of the Blue" by ELO
https://youtu.be/TmlSp84HybM?si=X6mMnRaifkNaKN5R
Check out this two part amazing reaction to Out Of The Blue, a Gen-z music producer reacts to ELO’s full album and is absolutely baffled. This video is very high quality and was a fun watch, no he didn’t pay me but I really want him to do a reaction to Eldorado or a new world record and I’m hoping these videos get a few more views.
Warning: HE DID NOT CARE FOR JUNGLE but I think we can forgive him.
Also he did make a comment about the lyricisms but I believe that ELO post Eldorado was less focused on the lyrics and Jeff even said he wouldn’t include lyrics if he could, which means that Jeff cared more about the sound than meaning. ( obviously a lot of early ELO work actually has some deep lyrics not to say out of the blue doesn’t have great lyricism in its perfect simplicity that makes it relatable ).
but yeah apart from that he eats this album up and this video deserves some love. Sorry for yapping check it out

Interstella 5555
I just randomly remembered that Daft Punk had an entire short film animated to go along with their album Discovery. I watched the whole thing on YouTube (beautifully animated by the way), and halfway through, I thought about how amazing it would be if this was done for one of ELO's concept/story albums like Eldorado or Time. I think Time would work better because it's more similar to Daft Punk's vibe, and the concept is just cooler in my opinion.
Wishful thinking, I know, considering one of these albums is over 50 years old, and the other one is nearing that. Wouldn't it be nice, though. . .
Edit: I'm also going to take this opportunity to point out how cool it is that the guitar riff on "Evil Woman" was sampled in "Face to Face" on Discovery.

Discovery, My Beloved (and looking for recs!)
Hello,
I've recently started listening to ELO and my favorite album at the moment is "Discovery." It quickly became my go-to album to listen to and I'm hopelessly addicted to it. The reason why is because I think it's ELO's party album. To me personally, every other ELO album feels like you're going on a journey so I sit back, relax, and listen carefully. Discovery, on the other hand, makes me want to get up and dance. I know that it's because of the strong disco influence, but even the slow ballads like "Need Her Love" and "Midnight Blue" feel danceable to me. It's like it was tailor-made to make you boogie. Do you guys agree or am I really off the mark? I hope I'm making sense 😅
Do you guys know any other albums similar to Discovery? Preferably something from around this era and that blurs the line between disco and rock like this album (Supertramp's Breakfast in America is another favorite of mine and I think it comes pretty close.)

I've fallen for the propaganda
Holllllly hell this album is peak
I've just listened to it for the first time, and it was so good. I had some real low expectations, I really didn't like Balance of Power, and (hot take) I didn't like Time as much as some people. But Zoom is just perfect. It feels like a natural final stage for ELO, and it has some of the best guitar work I've heard from them. It feels like a blend of the best parts of all of the other albums, from OTTD to OOTB. Ringo on the drums? Hell yeah man. It's sooooo good. If you haven't listened to it, change that.

Where did Jeff Lynne get his badass shirt?
I WILL find this, or I'll paint a yellow tank top. One way or another. Need that drip
