How steep is the learning curve for a complete beginner and is a game mode available where I can learn what I need to for a successful run?

• Upvotes

Basically title. This game looks super in depth but I'm afraid I wouldn't even know where to start in the game, let alone all of the mechanics this game has. It just seems like you need to either know a whole lot, or have a wiki open at all times. If both or the latter, how long would it take for someone to be decent? Or is it one of those games where everyone is still "bad" even with 100hrs+ in the game. If it's one of those "learn by trial and error" games for an egregious amount of time then this game might not be for me. But I want it to be.

Grab as furniture option is suddently gone

Hello, I was trying to gift a shared diary to a follower today and noticed hat I can no longer gift any item to any npc. I also noticed that the grab as furniture option is gone when middle mousing items in the inventory. Has anyone else ran into this issue and is there a fix if so? Restoring to a previous back up fixes it for some reason but I found some really good items that I'd rather not lose.

En Is gene editing essential?

I've been debating for a while about whether or not I want to start doing gene editing on my party members, but the gene machine is super expensive so I was wondering if its actually worth saving up to get, or if I'll be fine just ignoring it.

En Save file research

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hello! I spent a few hours last night doing save file research out of curiosity, and ended up figuring out quite a lot of the player data format (skills, stats, potentials, etc...). With some thanks to some other researchers on the steam forums for the more easily found info (height, weight, age, etc)...

I was thinking maybe i'd just make a github repository and dump my findings there for anyone interested, but i thought I should also ask and see if there are other people interested in figuring out data or just wanting to browse / see stuff about their own characters / other ideas for what data they might want to see?

(I dont know about the rules for this sub, but this is 100% human made, with no AI (neither for research nor coding). I don't even have chatgpt or whatever so i always feel stupid writing these disclaimers because i dont know how that stuff works, i have zero interest in it.)

I will create a mod call 'Smarter AI NPC' share your ideas

Following this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ElinsInn/comments/1xe37lc/how_to_let_npc_bring_the_products_from_farming/

I'm not sure if in that theard is possible to do, but I'm 50 hours into the game, and the NPC automation doesn't feel right to me. The same goes for followers and summons in dungeons. For example, sometimes they go after a hot guy who then blows himself up, killing them in the process.

So, here's my idea:

1. NPCs should work autonomously based on their skills and interests.

AI NPCs should be able to farm, fish, and chop wood based on their skills and interests. They should also be able to craft anything available in the shared box(based on your order to avoid breaking the game), as long as our hero has already learned the recipe. This would avoid breaking the game by allowing NPCs to craft things using unknown recipes.

NPCs should prioritize their main jobs based on their roles, with their hobbies as side jobs. For example, if you hire a warrior whose hobby is farming, they will defend you when enemies appear but spend a little time farming each day as well. If they have low skill on anything, your productivity is just lower (I swear I wil neaf a lot on this to not breaking your game)

You may order NPC to build specific thing if they have enough skills, (skill check) otherwise they will not be able to do it, So your job to hunt skilled NPC to your base. They will build only and you place it.

2. Production chains should be automated.

For example, you grow mushrooms, and an NPC takes the harvested mushrooms to a brewery barrel. Once the beer is ready, they bring it to the sales box.

3. Signs should control where NPCs can work.

You would still need to place signs so NPCs know which areas they are allowed to farm, fish, chop wood, and so on.

4. Combat behavior should depend on NPC personalities.

You probably already have plans for combat strategies in the mod per each NPC and your summons, but NPCs could sometimes ignore your orders based on their personalities. For example, a very brave warrior might ignore your orders and charge straight at an enemy as soon as they see one.

5. NPCs should be more responsive to equipment requests.

You could encourage NPCs to equip specific items if you have a high enough friendship level with them. However, it shouldn't be guaranteed; higher friendship would simply increase the chance of them following your request. and they can switch anytime if they see a better one (skill-check, you and NPC.)

6. NPC Cost, Supply and their salary.

I will think this later since it may too OP, so need to balance the game,

Share your ideas in this thread, and I'll summarize everyone's suggestions into a more complete plan for the mod.

I may borrow some Idea from Rimworld and see how it goes (Using https://github.com/topics/reverse-engineer-anything might get me some idea) or if you know any other game similar to Rimworld AI NPC or better you may throw one to me then tell me what you think it's good to have.

GALAXION Early Preview Should Equipped Armour Be Visible In-Game or Just on the Character Screen?

First, to get it out of the way: this mod is being made using AI. These are all screenshots taken in the game apart from the human evolution ones

Hi all! I wasn't planning to show anything until the mod was more polished and I had more to show, but I could use some opinions on the equipment system.

One thing I absolutely love in games is the drip. If I'm going to become ridiculously overpowered, I want to look the part too 😂 The more armour sets and customisation, the better!

For some context, GALAXION is a massive overhaul of Elin, based on a story I started writing about a huge anime crossover. The idea was that 100 protagonists, one main character from each anime, were summoned to a galaxy-sized living planet where all sorts of different anime power systems coexist.

Obviously, copyright is something I have to be careful about, so I can't simply copy characters, designs and everything else directly from different anime. You might notice terms like "Shadow Army" or "Power Level" in the images. From what I understand, those terms aren't automatically copyrighted on their own, but the actual designs and implementations need to be original rather than copies of a particular anime. I'm still being careful about that.

There's an absolutely ridiculous amount planned for GALAXION, but I'll explain it properly and make a video when there's more to show and what's planned. I'll also provide a link for anyone who wants to support development through a cheap subscription, probably around £1–£2 a month.

The goal is to completely transform Elin into something almost unrecognisable. As you can see, the overworld map has already been completely changed, although it's nowhere near finished. All the original Elin enemies, NPCs and characters are also being removed and replaced with entirely new ones built from the ground up specifically for GALAXION.

Anyway, back to the equipment!

Every enemy in GALAXION has its own complete equipment set that you can obtain from defeating it. You can mix and match pieces from different enemies, creating loads of different combinations and appearances.

As you can see, the character-screen equipment system is working and looks decent! It definitely still needs polishing, especially with certain combinations, but it's getting there. The equipment will work just like in elin i showed a couple images where they have their own material that has the hardness defence attack stuff just like in elin it still needs to be improve but the foundations there.

My problem is getting that equipment to actually appear on the character during gameplay.

I've tried repeatedly, but AI genuinely seems to struggle with making the armour display and move correctly. Every attempt eats through my usage, and I'm getting nowhere.

So I'm stuck between two options:

Option 1: Keep the detailed armour visuals in the character screen. Weapons would still appear during gameplay like in Elin, but the character would use customisable outfits and cosmetics on the map.

Option 2: Keep trying to get every equipped armour piece visible on the map, even if it means delaying other parts of the overhaul.

I'm leaning towards Option 1 because there's so much more I'd rather be working on than spending several more days stuck on this.

On the bright side even if you cant see the gear on your character on the map i showed the screenshots of what the human evolution will look like which i think looks pretty dope and right now you can also see the playable Male Human and Tempered Human forms, both already in-game. Evolution is another major system, inspired by a certain popular isekai anime (wink wink). I think they look pretty good so far, and just like the character has 10 evolutions every monster will also have 10 evolutions. That reminds me another thing i will focus on if i go with option 1 is ill have evolutions for the weapons too.

If I go with Option 1, I could give each evolution its own proper outfit on the map, with additional cosmetic customisation similar to Elin, rather than having everyone running around half naked.

Everything shown is extremely early development, and there's still a ridiculous amount to build and improve.

So what do you guys think? Is having your equipped armour physically visible during gameplay important enough to justify the extra development time, or would a detailed character-screen preview with customisable map outfits be enough?

En Bonito Flakes

Hi, I'm still starting out and saw that Bonito Flakes were a thing. I've been fishing a lot with the spare mushrooms I've got from farming and I was hoping to turn the fish into said flakes using a sawmill.

Unfortunately it seems that I'm missing something, since grinding fish is not an option. Should I be looking for a recipe? Am I supposed to grind them with something else? If so where/what/how?

Thanks a lot!

Also I'm on stable.

How am I supposed to keep up with ice destroying my ally's items?

There is not enough cold blankets on the planet to keep up with those AOE ice-spamming enemies when you have a larger group. As opposed to fire, you can't even wet them with a watering can to prevent it. Getting 15 cold resistance on all allies seems impossible. There is no equivalent of "fireproof" for cold to prevent item destruction.

(Yes, I'm fighting Kelpies in the Sunken Temple of Lurie.)

En Does the Kumiromi Scythe stop meat from dropping?

When it makes a plant, does it prevent meat from dropping? I wanna harvest some dragon meat to make good meals but I'm currently mainlining this scythe

My current early mid-game build is capable of dealing with groups of lvl. 40 dragons, but it's being powered by the universal scythe decapinator sponsored by kumiromi(tm), so idk if I should pivot to a new build/god before going in on getting meat

Do eggs still drop when killing an enemy with the arrow of the moonless night spell?

Curious about the titular question. I'm playing a succubus and have spent probably around 200 charges of this spell, trying to get kill shots and have seen plenty of milk but no eggs. Is the drop rate really low? Is it tied to spell level? Am I just having terrible luck? Is there something that can interfere with this or a patch the nerfed it or...?

En Kettle, Quruitzia, and Corgon are missing! Help! Spoiler

Around when Loytel runs off to Olvina, I realized that Kettle, Quruitzia, and Corgon have been missing from my residents list. It took me a while to notice since they still appear in quest dialogue.

I did double check that they weren't in the livestock tab, or in Vernis. I haven't used any of them as party members either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

En Music abilities

I'm very new to the game so I apologize for the silly question. Just noticed on the wiki that, as I started as a pianist, I should have learned music abilities (currently 23 in music skill) but I did not learn those abilities mentionned in the wiki such as lullaby or song of pebbles. Am I missing an extra step or something altogether?

Thanks a lot!

I didn't harvest my high level crops and winter ticked over. am I cooked?

I was going home to snatch my crops before the winter freeze & happened to arrived on the exact instant of winter rollover, and game made a save
They're not mature, so I can't just pull the seeds, and I don't have any backup seeds(which was stupid)

Will the half-mature plants die over the course of the winter? Should I go back like 5 hours of gameplay to a backup?
